Ok. Walked in waited 5 minutes to even be acknowledged standing in front of the registers. The girls were too busy socializing amongst themselves. They have an "organic varieties" listed under the hot coffee and when we inquired about it they looked at us like we were speaking gibberish. After looking at the menu and asking themselves about it pretty much said they had no idea. Ordered coffees and when we went to pay we were told they were cash only! After the wait and everything. Coffee is good but the person at the cash register seemed completely uninterested in providing assistance. Notably, when I asked for a sandwich, they proceeded to say they're not making sandwiches anymore because they "close soon" ( it was 1:15 PM) and on Apple Maps it says they close at 3 PM. I then asked another person behind the counter when they close to which they said "it depends". I didn't know storefronts could choose to close whenever they want I guess? Stopped by Ultimate Perk on a beautiful spring day and enjoyed one of my first iced chai lattes of the season. This iced chai was a great one. You can tell they don't use the run of the mill boxed chai syrup to make their chai lattes as the flavor was unique, but in the best way. My husband described it as "the spices of carrot cake in a cup" and I sort of like his description. If chai lattes are your thing, this is certainly one to try! My husband ordered a New Orleans cold brew coffee and this was also delicious. He doesn't usually have any sugar in his coffee, but tried it the way the drink was suggested (with cream and sugar) and wasn't disappointed. It wasn't overly sweet and the cold brew was smooth and not acidic. Definitely a new go to coffee shop when we're in Andover! read more

The young lady (high school aged) behind the counter was not very friendly. The coffee was ok. The bagels were ok. I was kind of expecting a bigger area to sit down in. We were seated next to a woman who seemed to know everyone that walked in the door. She spoke very loudly, sitting about a foot and a half from me as people walked in and walked out. If you just need a quick coffee or bagel/donut it is not a bad place but the atmosphere and the one employee we had waiting on us, was not great. read more

Coming home from a long trip, we decided to get off the crowded 93 and take the back roads and I was delighted to finally stop for coffee here after passing it for years. I wish I had stopped in before now! Nice store with outside tables that looked perfect for relaxing on a fall day. There was a line but they had several people helping and we didn't wait long. I liked their list of Fall coffees. I needed a bit more of a caffeine jolt so I went with the New Orleans cold brew. Wow! It was so good. Perfect taste and packed a punch but wasn't overwhelming. For our other coffee, we went with an iced Swiss almond. It was good but the flavor was weak so it didn't taste that special. I was almost tempted by the pumpkin whoopie pies but was good. They had a nice food menu too that I'd like to go back and try some time. I'll definitely be making the effort to stop in for coffee more often! read more

First visit with my sister. I ordered the New Orleans because it sounds like a cafe au lait you would get in New Orleans. From The menu: "New Orleans Cold Brew Organic, fair-trade, custom roast coffee using the New Orleans method. Our coffee is steeped 8-12 hours, giving a smooth taste with low acidity. Served over ice with pure cane syrup and milk." A cup of black coffee sat at the pick up area for a couple of minutes before I called the server's attention, there was no milk or sugar. The server reprimanded me: people who come in regularly know they have to ask for the milk and sugar. I responded that it was my first visit and I just wanted what was listed on the menu. I wanted coffee this morning but from a local place, not a chain, so I was kind of in the area, googled for a breakfast place and found this joint, had to go out of my way a little bit but I felt it was worth the risk. Right away I loved the curb appeal, very clean, modern european feel, couple of tables outside during a mildly chill morning. People reading books, some talking catching up. Getting inside I had the same feel of cleanliness, everything thing so neatly put, counter and menu, very easy to read from. Unfortunately I had the embarrassing surprise when it was time to pay, they only accept cash... I didn't had any, only credit card and apple pay. The lady was prompt to relieve me saying "you can come back later to pay" Well I wasn't so sure about how I felt because I was only in the are by happenstance... Fortunately the person I was with had some cash at hand so, she paid for it. The point is, the staff is friendly and it seems very much ready for situations like this. I'm a big fan of BREWED flavored coffee rather than the 'add syrup to create flavor' coffees and there aren't many places that have them. Well, this place does! Lots of them! Currently I'm addicted to Ultimate Perk's hazelnut coffee. To me it's the best around, freakin' delicious. (I used to get it at Brueggers (meh) or Panera (pretty good).) And in case you're wondering, they add the cream and sugar for you. A con is that it is cash only, resulting in a setback the FIRST time I went in. "Do you have hazelnut coffee? YES??!! Yippee! Oh, cash only. Bummer." But now I know and come prepared. I'd also like to mention another nice thing about them. I was behind a lady who was paying for her drink and she said "...and I owe for my daughter, she was here this morning and didn't have any cash." Meaning they let the daughter get a muffin and a drink on her word. (Yes, I was eavesdropping.) I also was short 35 cents once and they let it slide. (I gave it to them next time because I felt bad.) . This is a nice thing about a mom & pop businesses, that flexibility. Regarding seating and parking: They have about 5 two-top tables inside (except when then put their tables outside, then there are 3 tables inside), but most people seems to get their drinks to go. With parking, if you're just getting your coffee to-go, then there are 15 minute spots on the little side street next to the coffee shop that are often more open than on Main St. read more

I've been coming to 'The Perk' for years and it is still as good as it gets. The coffee is delicious with flavors brewed in (no flavor shots) and there's always 10+ flavors to choose from. There's all types of dairy/sugar alternatives too. It is cash only so be prepared! The staff is awesome to see everyday too. Chandra is there every morning. She remembers my order and is so quick and efficient, but still friendly and personable. Ultimate Perk is a good local alternative to the usual chain coffee shops saturated throughout the region. This shop is located at the southern end of the downtown business district. They offer several varieties of fresh brewed hot and iced coffee drinks with no flavor shots added, lattes, cappuccinos, chai, tea, and freezes. The drink prices are in line with other coffee places in the area. The donuts and baked goods behind the counter are from Heav'nly Donuts. In addition, bagels, wraps, paninis, salads, soups, and energy drinks are also offered. After taking a good stroll through downtown Andover on a cold morning, I stopped in here to warm up and recharge. I looked over the several interesting coffee varieties offered including Swiss chocolate almond, tropical coconut, Kahlua cream, pumpkin spice, and more. I quickly decided on a medium cinnamon sticky bun flavored coffee with cream added to the cup behind the counter. I could smell the sweet cinnamon, steam eminating from the cup. The cinnamon sticky bun coffee had interesting flavors and had a smooth taste, a pretty decent cup of coffee overall. The place itself is small with the counter area and a few small tables along the opposite wall. During warmer weather, there's also seating outside. Parking close by can be a challenge during the week, but on weekends, usually not a problem. read more

I really enjoy stopping by this coffee shop whenever I'm on my way to the Andover commuter rail station. There's a nice variety of hot and iced coffee flavors, espresso, and cold brews. The baked goods (muffins, cinnamon sticks, raspberry and fog squares, etc.) are also great. My favorite part about Ultimate Perk is the breakfast sandwiches. I usually get a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on an Asiago bagel. The bagel is just the right amount of chewy and the sandwich ingredients actually taste fresh. The downside is that the store is cash only, which can be inconvenient if you typically pay with a card. Parking can also be difficult to find depending on the time and day you go. That aside, I think this is a great coffee store and I like supporting small local shops. read more

I've been here many many times to get primarily Lattes and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is pretty tasty and more expensive than other places. My issue is that the last three times I went here whoever makes their sandwich has messed up. The first time they didn't bother to cut it in half which makes driving and sharing it very difficult, the second time they put it on a croissant instead of a bagel like I ordered and they confirmed and today they just left out the eat when I know they confirmed it. For a pricey sandwich whoever makes it has messed up and whoever is handing it off to the customer should check because by the time I notice I'm too far to drive back. Excellent, friendly service! They serve a variety of coffee from New England Coffee (I believe) and all of their baked good (muffins, croissants and bagels) are from Heavnl'y Donuts. Their muffins used to be from the Gingerbread Baking Company in Wakefield but I don't think that's the case any longer. They also offer limited breakfast sandwiches (fresh eggs that they microwave and bacon and sausage I believe) which they make in front of you along with lattes, iced and hot coffee and teas, cold brew and bottled drinks. Prices are fair and competitive with other shops downtown but the best part is the outdoor seats in the spring/summer months. They are also very dog friendly outdoors offering a fresh bowl of water to their 4-legged visitors. Limited seating is also available indoors and you never feel rushed by the staff to leave. I am in the area often and had tried the coffee and was not very impressed, but there are not any other options around so every once in awhile I will stop in and recently decided I won't bother anymore. I wont go on and on about how much the place sucks, just state my complaints and move on. 1-They don't let you put your own sugar and cream in the coffee and give you an attitude about it. I like my coffee darker sometimes and with more sugar other times. Real coffee shops let you put your own cream in. 2-I ordered the same drink 3 times and got 3 different prices. I understand that iced americano isn't on the menu, but it shouldn't be a dollar more than an americano. I asked why it was so expensive, and was rudely explained that I was being charged for a latte. You are pouring espresso over ice instead of water, why the price hike? Surly barrista chick behind the counter messed up which one of our bagel sandwiches supposed to have no cheese, then proceeded to give us the stink eye for having to re-do our order. I could hear her complaining to the other girl behind the counter about having to waste food. It's one of my least favorite things when an establishment gets your order wrong then acts as though you were the one who made some sort of mistake. If I could give zero stars to this place, I would. I don't drink coffee, but was in the area on a rainy Friday waiting for friends and popped in to warm up. The donuts were a buck and way better than Dunkin's and the gingerbread chai tea I had was something I hadn't seen before and was absolutely delicious. The inside was clean with giant picture windows that let in a ton of light, but there is minimal seating of 4 tables. It seems like a drop in and run type place with it's great corner location. Excellent coffee, friendly service. Always a hit - I treat myself with their Cinnamon Sticky Bun iced coffee (along with probs every female in Andover) every weekend. They have new cold brewed iced coffee (the New Orleans and the Kyoto) also - tried the NOLA today - good, wouldn't necessarily order again - but am dying to try the super strong Kyoto. When I go to a coffee shop, its for the coffee. I have never had any food here, but a friend of mine really enjoys the food there. I also hear great things about the bagels. So back to the coffee, the reason I go to a coffee shop. Dunkin's is across the street. Doesnt even compare in quality coffee to the Perk. I'm not typically into flavored coffee because the artificial flavors make me ill. However, the beans are actually roasted into the beans rather than flavor added, like at Dunkin's. I HIGHLY suggest the Pumpkin Spice coffee. So darn good. I'm not huge into sugary flavors like cinnamon bun, so I'm not a good judge for that. One added bonus about the place is that I am lactose intolerant and allergic to soy. However, they carry Almond milk. if I wanted a hot chocolate, I'm all set! Otherwise, I drink my coffee black. I enjoy the taste of coffee, not the milk and whatever else you drop in there. The seating area is not very abundant, but there are a couple of tables outside for the nice weather that people certainly take advantage of. I'm a fan of this place. I now live outside of Massachusetts but try and go here when I visit home. They have great coffee (I've taken some back to Richmond with me before), good bagels and pastries. It's a small local shop, better than the Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks down the street. Baristas are friendly and I always have a pleasant experience going here. Having a nice local coffee shop is a great change up from all of the chains out there. I like knowing the Ultimate Perk will be there for me when I go home. read more

Not bad. I ordered chai. It was good but shit, I don't have much else to say so let me ramble. Well the seating is nice, and they have wifi. There is an outdoor seating area too. There are some hot babes that come through here too. As far as quality of their products...they sell coke, vitamin water, nesquik and other stuff you can find at cvs. They have donuts and bagels so it reminds me of a Dunkin donuts. They do have fair-trade organic coffee but it's a special slow-drop blend that is served chilled. I haven't tried it but it sounds really good. read more

I love the coffee here, and the flavor choices they have! Today I got caramel nut crunch.. I pretty sure they are connected to Heavenly Donuts and this is just another branch with another name because they have the same flavors coffees and it tastes the same. I've never tried the food so I can't comment on that. Service varies, sometimes you are greeted by someone friendly, other times it's someone who looks like they hate their life. This morning I was hit with the hating their life service. I love that they have Almond Milk as an option! Biggest problem: CASH ONLY!! This drives me nuts, the first time I went in there (a few years ago) I didn't know and I had to run to an ATM just for a damn coffee..
