Bagels are great, everything else is poorly managed. The kids working there are very pleasant but have zero training or are just not set up to provide proper service. Today, for the 20th time, I had to order smoothies at the register. One girl working the register and making the smoothies (how is this possible). Everyone behind me had to wait about 8 minutes to just pay for what they had in their hand! ‍ Why didn't I order online, because it seems like they had an elementary school kid set up th online ordering. I've been going to this location for almost 20 years and it's always been clean with friendly service. The coffee is so good and the bagels are pretty good too. They are very generous with their eggs and their cream cheese, holy cow! I always end up scraping off half the cream cheese. I am not a fan of their bacon, always undercooked. I prefer it to be crispy. Their muffins are fine, nothing really to write home about. I appreciate that they always get my order right. This is a cute cafe near the Andover commuter rail station. I stopped here before work to grab a coffee and bagel. To my surprise, it is takeout only, despite the very large interior space. 10/10 Bagels, 10/10 Coffee, but I can't give more than 3 stars solely because of the way they make their eggs in the breakfast sandwiches.The eggs are some crappy egg white formula and it's microwaved in a plastic tin. They put so much egg that it's thicker than the bagel itself. You want to ask for half egg? They will forget. Please put in the effort to fry some real eggs, it'll benefit your customers, who lots of people i've talked to also dislike the egg. read more

The sandwiches are great but my experience with this place is ALWAYS a complete piece of s***. The people who prepare your food are rude and dismissive, acting irritated that you're trying to specify, as if they know what you're going to ask for before you even do (such as extra cheese, less egg)--and then they make it incorrectly! I have ordered from here probably 50 times (mostly on DoorDash; a few times in person), and I kid you not: they have messed up my order over 35 times. First experience: Nice employees, clean building, beautiful pastries. Second experience: Takeout: good sandwich, good flavors Third experience: Takeout: online order; grilled chicken focaccia on a wheat wrap. Add bacon. Giant wrap. Partially through eating, notice a chewy piece (thinking it is just chicken) then looking into the wrap realize it is grey in color. Pulled it out, open wrap, it is a FULL LENGTH PAPER TOWEL. Side note: obviously they use it to clean the lettuce but it was a full size piece. I throw out the sandwich and call, ask for the manager. Explain the situation. Her initial response was, "it's not trash... we use it to clean." My response, "paper towel is not meant to be eaten and there was no added bacon." I asked for a refund and hopefully will be getting it. One would think that if you are in the customer service industry you would actually provide customer service. I was in this morning and there were only 2 customers being helped. No greeting or how can I help you. They looked like they would rather be anywhere else but there. Two more customers came in behind me to the same. Then a group of 5 kids come in and walk right up to the counter and start to order! Did they ever think to tell them there were 3 customers in front of them??? Nope. Someone Can't Count and Owner/Staff Isn't Very Helpful - The Bagel Blunder A mistake could have been easily been corrected-has turned into a fiasco: Someone can't count to 13 or even 12. Or do they think their customers aren't going to count to insure they received what they ordered and received actually what they ordered? A few years back I had contacted Perfectos regarding their bagels for more info. Max, the owner, replied from what I believe his personal email address - and I have been visiting and getting bagels, until the pandemic slowed any visits to stores with the exception of grocery shopping every few weeks. They "had been" my go to place for bagels until the other day. I really liked their bagels and have been picking up a dozen when I am in town for other things due to their distance. It is a treat, but due to the distance and over the past year, haven't gone into stores in general. I had to be in Andover not all that long ago, so I used their ordering via phone - a dozen bagels, selected the one I wanted, and is their norm the total would be 13 - a bakers dozen. I indicated when I would be in and paid via credit card - all via cell. When I got there, I gave them my name and they pointed to a bag sitting on a table on the other side of the room - not sure how long they had been there, but I showed up within a few mins of when I said I would. When I got home, the 13 bagels turned out to be only 11. VERY disappointed, as it would be some time before I could get back there.... When I texted their number with my receipt and photos of the bagels, it couldn't be delivered. So I called the following day as asked to speak to the manager. I told Max the problem and even suggested that since the two missing bagels were of the same type and I only ordered 2 of those, perhaps they were waiting for them to be ready and just forgot to add them - as counting and verifying shouldn't be an issue. He said to come back for those two....I told him that the drive of 20 miles and the fact that I very cautious of store visits since I was at high risk and their clientele can be in the their teens due to the academy in Andover, that I would reach out to him when I had my shots and was in town. Didn't seem to be a problem....initially. I found the old email from Max from the past and sent him 4 msgs a week before I would come into town and that I had had both shots and wanted bagels prior to going to CA and actually these would be taken there. I got no reply. I called the store but he was said to come in later in the day; called when he was due in, and the store was closed. A 3rd call and I got another number that would reach the store after hours so I called later in the day and no one answered, but left a long detailed message that I would be visiting the following day, would pick up 1/2 doz bagels and the previously two missing bagels. I called before going down to Andover, and the first time they picked up the phone and just hung it up. The second time, I got someone, explained the issue, she said to come down (it didn't sound as if it was a big deal), she then said there was a line out of the door and hung up on me. Drove all those miles specifically for the bagels and no other reason - wanted bagels and to close this issue out. After being ignored for about 5 mins (this was 10am) as it seemed the woman who was in charge of others there, was dealing with a customer who had an issue, copying his credit card, writing down information and she said that she would have the boss take care of it - and this took up about 3 of the staff, and one person was standing in front of me for some time before I got to explain the issue, that I had called the previous night, etc. The head woman as noted before, was consulted and I explained the problem. I asked if I had spoken to her earlier that morning and she said no (but she did sound familiar to me); I asked if she got a message from Max or whether she heard my message of the day before - no. Bottom line is that she can't do anything and I have to contact the boss and he isn't there and hasn't been there for some time...leave your info. So I did. Of course, it is too late now, as my unfortunate drive of 6 days to CA starts shortly, so won't be available for X number of months. The head woman wasn't exactly all that pleasant or understanding, or diplomatic. Sounded like she wanted a fight - but I was already disgusted with the whole thing and wasn't going to get more involved; she was just passing the buck. Not the first time that I have spent hundreds of dollars on the principal of something. Out of pocket expenses for an incorrect charge of $0.50 on my credit card bill, literally cost me $75 and a few hundreds dollars in time. This out of pocket expense is only the loss of 2 bagels, so about $3 - but 4 emails, 4 telephone calls, driving 20 miles back to Perfectos for more bagels and the two that were missing, the aggravation, the time, etc. adds up to lots of money/time. read more

The bagel maker said it'll be four minutes until the bagels are complete. surprise surprise the bagel maker tricked me. 20 excruciating minutes later the bagels finally come out. i run to the car, as I was already late for a prior meeting. I get home and unravel the bagel cover to find a BLT WITH EXTRA MAYO AND TOMATOES. The coffee was good but I will never go back! No service at all, not even a smile! Some rude woman was at one of the registers and appeared to be 'fixing' it but m not really sure. She let people stand in her line without saying a word! They all had to move to the next line where there was another cashier who was just as unfriendly! What a cute little cafe in Andover. There is limited sitting and street parking, so I would recommend coming here to take out. I love getting breakfast at Perfecto's. They have the most delicious breakfast sandwiches ever. You can pick from a wide variety of bagels, or choose their delicious English muffin. I love getting egg whites, cheese and ham in mine. They also have amazing coffee, with different flavors. I love getting the hazelnut coffee. Perfecto's is always a solid choice for breakfast or lunch - good bagel selection (even at the busiest of times!), fresh sandwiches (real eggs ftw!), and good coffee. Bonus points for the cookies and treats in the display case, always so fun to look at. Seating is a challenge on Saturdays and Sundays, but we haven't had problems parking here. Also called one Sunday morning to order 6 dozen bagels at 8am, they were ready 20 minutes later, sliced, and packaged up. Now THAT is excellent service. read more

THOSE WITH ALLERGIES - BEWARE!! If I could give a review with zero stars, I would, solely based on the management of the Andover location (as I cannot speak to the others). Last week, I stopped in to purchase a coffee, which is a spot my family and I used to frequent. While at the register, I spotted an Oreo bar that I knew my toddler-aged daughter would love as a sweet treat. Before committing to the purchase of the bar, I asked what the ingredients were and if any nuts were present in the item as both my daughter and I have a severe nut allergy resulting in anaphylaxis. The server was unsure and went to the back for clarification. When she returned, she said the ingredients were "Oreo cookie, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and a drizzle of both types of chocolate on top." The ingredients she listed did not pose harm to myself or my daughter, so I went ahead with the order. Later that afternoon, I had my husband try a bite prior to having a bite myself or giving some to my daughter - a very typical occurrence to have a taste tester since one can never be too careful with this type of allergy. He immediately noted that coconut shavings were in the bar. These shavings were not visible, as I believe they had been either mixed or melted into the drizzles. Feeling thankful that my husband identified the allergen and not the doctors at the emergency room, I decided to give Perfecto's a call to explain the situation and make them aware of what had transpired. The girl who answered, while initially pleasant, provided little to no help for me, but, instead thanked me for calling and said that she would remind workers about the coconut in the product and suggest a sign to be displayed next to the item in the display case. I immediately felt that the magnitude of this allergen omission was not being taken seriously and that the response was one to pacify me as the likelihood that these measures would take place seemed implausible. As the consumer, especially one who, as mentioned before, has purchased a myriad of coffees and bagels from Perfecto's, I felt that no remedy for my anguish and the potentially life threatening situation was offered. When I requested to ask for a manager, the girl put me on hold and came back on the line to say that the manager was very busy and that the server who recited the ingredients did tell me there was coconut and that it was me who was mistaken. She also added that the server had an accent and I probably did not understand her. For the record, I understood her completely (the ingredient was omitted) and still cannot understand why they think I would purchase this type of pastry knowing it contained a life threatening allergen for myself and my toddler. I could not believe that a manager could not even give me the time of day in a matter that could have been very devastating both to my family and their business. I got off the phone and called my mother who was in the car that day while I ran into the cafe. She, who was also appalled at the lack of concern for their customers and the blatant dismissal of the events, decided to give them a call herself minutes later. The same girl answered and rudely stated that she had just talked to her (believing it was me) and said she already told me that the manager left (which again, was incorrect - I was told she was too busy). Our names and numbers were taken down at my mother's request and a phone call from the manager should have been received on Friday (9/7). Five days after this experience, and still no call. As a lifelong resident of the town and a mother, I am floored at the behavior of this business, especially one that is touted as a cafe with a "mom and pop" feel. My family and I will not be returning to Perfecto's and I urge anyone who has an allergy, or children with allergies or dietary restrictions, to re-evaluate your patronage to this business. There is a level of trust that consumers place in the hands of the restaurants they visit and in this instance, it was shattered without consequence or regard for the well being of their customers. read more

Even if you're in the right spot to order a bagel (and congrats to you for figuring it out!), you'll have to wait for teen staffers to make scads of egg sandwiches and refuse to acknowledge you until they're absolutely ready. How about a "be right with you!" Don't you kids like tips? By the way, all of you lauding the egg sandwiches -- have you seen the crappy plastic containers they're microwaved in? I've heard so much about this place and was stoked to get a chance to go. It's small, and the system is not clear to anyone who first walks in the door. I ordered my somewhat large order, nothing fancy and definitely something I have done at every fast food establishment in the past. 5 items, including a coffee, 2 sandwiches and 2 cookies. I was a bit bewildered when I ordered my coffee then the girl assumed that was all I wanted because later as she was bagging my bagels she told me there is a "bagel" area to order and a "coffee" area. With no clear sign age and being new to this caffee I wasn't aware and no one even tried to explain that to me. Well onto the food. The coffee was good. The bagels were excellent. I got a Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with veggie cream cheese. It was just spicy enough and yet smooth. The cream cheese was amazing! And I will be back to experiment with the veggie cream cheese on other bagels. All in all I was pleased and happy to have gone. Maybe next time though I will go at a later time in the day. I always get exceptional service whenever I go here. Today I asked for a foccacia bagel, even though the basket was clearly empty, and my sandwich maker kindly put a whole batch in for me. The foccacia bagel was delicious, with the right amount of crunchy cheese on top and captured in the bagel hole. Their wide ice coffee selection is delicious any time of the year. I'm sure their hot coffee is good, too, but if only ever had ice coffee here, so I can't really say. The muffins and pastries are cute, too, and very yummy. Just now offering sandwiches on english muffins. Awesome! Variety of their cream cheeses change often which is wonderful if you like to try new things (don't worry - the standard ones are always there). Are you an iced coffee connoisseur - you'll LOVE this place - they have over 20 (maybe over 30) different flavors everyday.
