I would only give 2 stars for the quality of food, but I decided to give 3 stars because it's one of few restaurants that were open late. Also, delivery was fast. I ordered the truffle burger. It tasted ok, but the patties were dry (as you can clearly see in my photo), and there wasn't much on it other than the patties, slices of pickles, and small bits of grilled onions. The sunny side burger by far the best one I have had yet. Avocado bacon and sunnyside egg all w a smashed patty?! Gimme that! Easy to order through DoorDash. Wish time was restricted for me bc I would have gone to pick it up instead. Bc DoorDash charges too much. Everything came great besides the sweet potatoes. I was sad it was overcooked. I'm thankful that this burger joint has fixed my craving for inn n out! The patty melt is my guilty pleasure and the classic is well underrated here. I've only had delivery and it's arrived every time perfectly seasoned and cooked. I'm not a fan of the cheesy tots because way too much cheddar cheese for me. We just landed in Portland and was looking for somewhere to eat at 10pm. Umami burger is open from 11am-145am. They do not take orders at the food truck. You will need to place an order online or through one of the delivery apps. The food is prepared pretty quick I say 5-10mins. We got the The OG Umami Sampler which comes with The Umami Classic Burger, Truffle Burger, Manly Burger, Umami Caesar Salad, Onion Rings, Cheesy Potato Tots and Thin Fries for $42.50. It was suppose to come with 3 signature sauces but somehow that was missed. The sauces are to be eaten as a dipping sauce. Luckily we ordered an extra jalapeño ranch at pickup. The sauce had a little spice but very tolerable for those who do not like heat. All of the burgers are 4oz. This combo was perfect for my family. My husband doesn't care for veggies so the manly burger called out his name. It was basically hamburger, cheese, and bacon. My son loves everything on his burgers so he called dibs on the umami classic burger which has hamburger, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. I love everything with truffle (and garlic) in it so it was obvious that I would get the truffle burger. The patty didn't have much flavor but the sauce was very flavorful. I really enjoyed the well seasoned onion rings and the huge cheesy stuffed potato tots. The salad was nothing special and they forgot to include utensils and napkins. The Umami Classic Burger is soo good and exactly what it says it is, "classic". I'm not big on over-hyped burger culture so this one hits it on the head as a basic (but delicious) burger. I read somewhere that the calorie count for this burger was ~600 so I'm not complaining, especially if I've been working all day and neglected food. It's a good option to get some calories really quickly but not go overboard like Five Guys burgers where it's like ~1200 per burger.. geez. Also, I'm pretty sure the bun is a pretzel bun which levels up the flavor game a ton. If I had one thing to say in when it comes to "meals" which would include the fries, I'd say they could spare a few more fries.. but meh. I won't knock a star off for it. read more

The 2 girls working at this Reels Kitchen were both rude and unhelpful. One of the most frustrating food experiences I've had in years. I drove 20 minutes to this location because Yelp said Unami Burger was open late, but when I arrived there I was informed that this is NOT a location where you can order food. I repeat -- you cannot order food in-person at this location. You can only pick up here after ordering through an app. So naturally I asked "how can I order" and "which app do I order through" and both employees DIDNT EVEN KNOW HOW TO ORDER!! So not only can you not order in-person, but then you also can't help me figure this out? They couldn't even tell me which app or site to go to; or any of the names of the restaurants that Reels Kitchen cooks for. Knowing how to put an order in is one of the fundamental aspects of your job!! How the hell do you not know how to do that? read more

I've had the pleasure of tasting Umami Burger when I visited my brother in LA, and to this day, I swear up and down that it is the most delicious burger joint I've ever been to. I was BEYOND elated when I saw that it came to Portland! I especially love that it's been open surprisingly late during this Covid period we're living through. My burger is always cooked at a great temperature, always hot and fresh, and tastes absolutely DELICIOUS. I've had this place two times. The first time was great and it hit the spot. The second time the chicken for both meals was burnt, like I literally couldn't bite through it. Also I ordered thin fries and received sweet potato fries despite the fact that I opted to cancel item if unavailable. I'm very into sauces, they have that down but consistency is key. Ordered through Uber Eats. Pictures on Uber Eats were gorgeous and when the food arrived it was very very different from the photos... in a bad way. Fries were not nearly as appetizing looking as the photos and the Mac + chz looked like it came out of a microwaveable pack. Portions were akin to a McDonald's Happy meal and not a $23 meal. I asked for utensils. None were provided. I asked for no pickles on my burger. Pickles were on the burger. Extremely disappointing experience and food that we could barely eat. First of all, there is no "Umami Burger" in Portland. That is a bait-and-switch. Instead, there is an un-branded anonymous foodcart that serves as a kitchen for Umami and at least two other restaurants. Second, the cart is completely unbranded, so I had to walk around the food pod for twenty minutes until I finally asked a series of actual food cart owners who pointed me in the right direction. By that time, the food was cold. Let's talk about the food. The burgers were...ok. Maybe a two star burger at best. The side of coleslaw I ordered turned out to be no more than a scant spoonful in the bottom of a ramekin. And the fries, well, I've had better frozen fries still frozen. Besides which, I had ordered truffle fries and got the bog-standard fries. In short, this is a scammy out-of-towner running a ashamed-to-be-branded second-rate burger franchise. We ordered the fried chicken burger and the truffle burger. The fried chicken burger was great, but a little soggy. The truffle burger was tasty but a major downside (and full disclosure we did order this through postmates delivery) was that it was cold. Stone cold. We also ordered the thin fries with a side of sauce and sauce did not arrive. The fries were decently seasoned but- cold cold. Not just lukewarm. COLD. All around, the food was okay at best- but there is stiff competition for burger joints around here, and I have had far tastier delivery burgers and paid about 20% less. My reason for 3 stars is only in the hopes that maybe this spot is better when you order IRL and have the food fresh. read more

Ordered online twice, got the umami burger add bacon, fries with jalapeño ranch and house sauce. Everything was great! This is exactly the right ratio pickles, lettuce, sauce, meat, cheese and salt. The fries stayed pretty crunchy and the jalapeño ranch was surprisingly good and actually had some spice! Definitely glad this location exists. read more
