I was looking forward to trying Umani when I noticed they would be at the Sandy Food Truck Festival. Unfortunately this ended up being some of the worst pizza I've had in SLC. There is nothing special about this pizza. It tastes like a pizza that could very easily be made at home with store brought dough, ragu sauce and Kraft mozzarella. Or the pizza you get for school lunch. The crust was too doughy and heavy to hold so the pizza was extremely floppy. The sauce was flavorless and the cheese blend didn't seem fully cooked (see video attached) I've seen other reviews complain about the wait time and you should believe them. It took 30 minutes to get my pizza when they told me 15. There were folks behind me that had ordered the same thing as me but ended up getting their pizza first. They must have changed how they run their food truck, because my experience was very different than the others I have read. My pizza was $7 for the slice. I was worried it would be a small slice of pizza, but it was a good amount. I would say it's about the same size as 2 regular slices of pizza. The wait wasn't long, and I was happy with my food. They don't have a lot of options, which can be good if you have a hard time deciding what you want, but I would have loved a few more creative options. The margarita pizza I ordered was tasty, and I loved the amount of pesto that was put on my pizza. My only thing was that i wish the dough part of my pizza was different. It tasted like pre cooked dough, and I would have loved a thinner slice. I'm sure that's what makes the pizza come out quicker though. read more

While on a work trip on a walk I stumbled across this food truck. Decided to take a chance on them after seeing the wood burning fire place. I gravitated to the American Dream which had Italian sausage, pepperoni, Red peppers, black olives. I added artichoke hearts as well because I wanted more veggies. For a totally of $13 the pizza is a thin crust. The pizza is cut into rectangular pieces and was ok. I was missing that cheese strings when you pull apart the pizza slices. I ended adding parmesan packets and pepper flakes on my pizza. Overall the pizza was ok and I loved that the truck was all decorated for Halloween. I would like to try another type before I decide if it was for me or not. I don't know if I would get that flavor again. Until next time! read more

How is this a margarita pizza? Where is the basil, pesto, or anything green? It just tastes like an average cheese pizza that was $15.50 btw.... It's not even worth half that. Instead of spending so much $$ on a "cool" looking food truck, work on recipe and execution. Believe the low reviews, they deserve it. My husband waited 35 minutes outside this truck to not even get a pizza. He asked about his order about halfway through and was told it was up next. I'm stunned that this stellar and very active food truck hasn't been reviewed yet! Part of the problem is that they don't always update their location (on Instagram and Facebook) and they don't have times on their Web site. The good news is they are on the food truck "circuit" (so to speak): --- The Reverstaurant downtown SLC (327 E. 300 S.) --- The A. Fisher Brewing Company (320 W. 800 S.). They have food trucks daily, Umani there often. Perfect if you want to get a brew with your pizza) --- The Food Truck League. The FTL usually has Umani's location, and Umani is often at the Food Truck roundup (at The Gateway Fountain) and their App (and website) usually track Umani. The quality of their toppings and sauce is magnificent. And the best part is the wood fired cooking ... they definitely give you that stone-fired taste, miraculously created in the back of a food truck. There are options for both the conventional and froufrou pizza eater. I'm a Hawaiian pizza fan, and their tasty incarnation adds chives to the usual pineapple and ham for a one-of-a-kind flavor. The American Dream is pepperoni, BIG slices of sausage, red peppers, and black olives. It puts the old-fashioned "Pizza & Sausage" incarnation in the windmills of my mind to shame. If you're willing to roll the dice on something new, I recommend the Amber: Bacon, roquefort (a bleu cheese), and cranberries. I loved it. The best part is you can half-and-half ... it's given me the chance to try more kinds of pizza over my three visits. The food is a five ... but hard to track down. Please, please, please Umani ... Food trucks are back at the Utes Football games. We asked how long the wait was and were told "8 minutes", it was 8 minutes!. Crust was crispy, the toppings were fresh. I got the veggie. I L O V E that they cut it rectangular and in thin strips-like a breadstick. Especially for eating it out of the box (stadium). It was perfectly sized and cooked. I couldn't eat it all and shared with 3 men sitting near and they said "good choice" even for a vegetarian pizza. This is the #1 pizza food truck in Salt Lake City as rated by local workers. The thin-crust wood fire pizza crust is crisp and light. I love Hawaiian pizza. The melted mozzarella topped with fresh chives, crispy Canadian bacon pieces and sweet pineapple pieces is perfect. Choose your litmus test for good pizza at UMANI and you will not be disappointed! My friend's litmus test for good pizza is a margherita. He savored every bite of the white mozzarella, rich red tomato sauce, and pesto. Let me start by saying the review before mine is from the guy who took my order at the truck (or at least his picture looks exactly like him) so I'm guessing the only good reviews are from the people who work there, which is so bizarre, this is the first review I write because I could not believe the experience I had, the truck looks cool but that is the only thing good about it. Ordered from this truck when they came to IMC. it was pretty disappointing. I asked for no red peppers. Not only did they still put peppers on it, they also added half cooked, wiggly, gross bacon, that was not in the description of the American Dream. I ended up spending the first 5 minutes picking off everything they put on that I didn't want/wasn't in the description. I dont mind bacon on pizza... but it has to be cooked, not raw and chewy. And every bite of pizza STILL tasted like red peppers!! Everyone in front of me also got their pizza in a box... mine came on a plate, outside in October. By the time I got all the way back to my nursing unit (IMC is a HUGE hospital), it was cold. I couldn't stand to eat half of this pizza. What a waste. read more

Hired this food truck for an event. Took 30 to 45 minutes for pizza. Pizza was average. Defiantly not fantastic. When time for the tuck to leave workers told us we blew our quota out of the water over doubled it. Owner texted me later that night that we didn't make our quota we over him over $400.00. I questioned it we had a line the entire night I knew we made our quota. He was rude and argued with me. I wanted proof and he sent me a graph that made no sense. Great tasting pizza, just had it at Fisher Brewing. Only thing thing we didn't like was the ratio of crust to toppings. UMANI!! It took me about a few days to remember the name of this Food truck. I was telling my Friend how cool your set up is, and how good it actually was. 1. Probably the coolest food truck out there 2. Probably the cleanest 3. Friendly staff 4. Dont have to wait years for your food 5. Open set up I wouldn't give a place 5 stars. Let alone a food truck. I have tried quite a few of them and honestly how many shady food trucks have you eaten out of? Lookin like dumpsters on wheels.. Yes its pricier.. so is every food truck.. stick to your (60 cent)$10 rice noodles w sauce.. I played it safe. Half and Half. Pineapple and Pepperoni. It was fresh. Good, coulda been a little bigger, good amount of gluten, just enough carbs. My brother got the Criolla. It was very exquisite.. But I am a peasant, so I like simple Pizza. If you are a simpleton like me stick to their regular ones. Ps.. Alot of people seemed to really enjoy the fancier ones. Idk how long you guys have been around but keep up the good work! The prices are a little high but I'd gladly pay for it if the pizza was good. However the crust is terrible and it doesn't seem like they use good quality ingredients. We waited in line for this pizza at the Lantern Night Lights festival. They were one of several food trucks. Longest line, and the truck looked legit. 30 minutes in the line to order your pizza. We got to the front of the line only to be informed that two of the four options were no longer available. Why not put something on the truck that shows that? So annoying. So I order three cheese pizzas. $27 including tip. Then wait another 15 minutes for my pizzas to be done. To eat their pizza after that wait? Horribly disappointing. It wasn't even hot, which was mind blowing, since it was obvious there was no lull in the line. The crust didn't taste wood fired at all. It was undercooked. The sauce tasted like it might have gone bad. Cheese was cold. My kids wouldn't eat it. We ended up throwing them all a way. Huge waste of time and money. I don't understand how they are still in business. They should sell their truck to someone who knows how to make pizza. read more
