Wing was very nice and conversational (in English, Cantonese, AND Mandarin!) and we ended up cutting off about 5-6 inches -- and I feel great about it! I'm very disappointed with my experience at this salon. I called ahead of time specifically to ask about the price of a women's haircut, and I was clearly quoted $50. Based on that price, I decided to make the appointment. The haircut was completed without anyone mentioning that the price would be different. Only after the haircut was finished, I was told that the $50 quote was a mistake because they thought I was asking about a child's haircut, and suddenly the price was changed to $70. What makes this even more frustrating is that their own website lists: Women's Haircut - Medium-length women's haircut (above the shoulders): $50 Women's Long Haircut - below the shoulders: $70 If there was any question about the length or the correct price, they should have explained it before starting the haircut, not after the service was already completed. I would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether I wanted to proceed at the higher price. Changing the price after the service is finished is extremely unprofessional and leaves the customer feeling taken advantage of. A business should honor the price quoted to a customer, especially when the customer calls ahead specifically to confirm the cost. The haircut itself may have been whatever, but the way the pricing was handled completely ruined the experience. Very unprofessional, disappointing, and upsetting. Jack was explaining to us his recommendations before the haircut and we are very pleased with how it turned out. Initially, my husband thought he wanted his hair to be much shorter but when Jack shared that it would be better to keep more hair to style the back of his head, we trusted him and we are so glad we did! Great experience, coming here for a last minute appointment. They accommodated and waited for me to get there by 6pm because I was driving from work which was nearly an hour away. Wing cut my hair and provided me with a consultation before cutting my hair. I share with him that I needed to be able to tie it up for work and that I didn't like the short bangs. He checked in with me when he cut the baseline layer to make sure the length was ok with me. I've Pinned and saved so many haircuts that were medium LOBs and how would I have known that it wasn't quite suited for me and my face shape. Heyo! I just wanted to leave a review saying how wonderful my hair turned out after going to Ume Salon. It was my first time getting a haircut by myself, and this short! It was a great experience since the guy who was cutting my hair explained every detail of what he was doing and why to achieve the vision I had in mind. He was incredibly detailed and knowledgeable, even honestly explaining why some of my previous haircuts turned out differently based on my hair type. He recommended that I get a relaxer treatment because my curly roots would cause my hair to poof out once it was cut short, making it look lopsided or uneven. I ended up getting a short boy-style haircut along with a relaxer treatment, and I absolutely love the results. Even my hairstylist aunts complimented the technique and skill behind the cut, which says a lot! I've received so many compliments on my new hairstyle, and I have this salon to thank for that. The treatment is holding up nicely even after a week of heat and sweat, especially at Disney. They're so patient and explain how much and why they have to do things a certain depending of your hair and vision. Trust their guidance and they will deliver your vision! I paid around $260 for the haircut and treatment (before tip), which is definitely on the pricier side. However, considering the level of skill, attention to detail, personalized recommendations, and the results I got, I genuinely think it was worth every penny. My #ThankfulThursday goes to Angela at Ume Salon! I have been so busy moving homes this past year and kept pushing off my haircut. I know it's usually hard to schedule a haircut last minute and I stumbled upon Ume Salon that was several minutes away from me and decided to give them a call on Thanksgiving day when I was able to have a free morning. Angela picked up and scheduled me to come in within the hour. She washed my hair really well and cut and styled it in an hour. I would've hope that she would've used some hair oil or cream for my newly cut hair. For my long hair, she charged $70 which was very reasonable. It was a trim and just what my hair needed to get ready for the holidays. She told me that they just opened about 6 months ago. The salon has seats for about 6 stations and there was someone else getting a perm sitting in back of me. The hair washing was in the back of the salon and I didn't have a chance to look at the type of shampoo and conditioner. They were both very friendly, and unlike some other hair stylists who simply asks you what you want and call it a day, they made sure and asked back clarifying questions with details to make sure that things are exactly as we are looking for.
