I told Raul that I wanted a more chestnut balayage compared to my original idea of having ash blonde hair.

She really listened to what I wanted and did a fantastic job with my haircut -- I left feeling very happy with the results. What really stood out was how accommodating she was. I had a last-minute request for my boyfriend, and she kindly fit him in and did an amazing job with his hair as well. We both left very happy! Tia is not only talented but also warm and professional. I would definitely recommend her and will be coming back again.

She did exactly that and styled it the exact same and it looked amazing! I went home and realized that I actually wanted it more flat than voluminous so I messaged her the same night and asked if I could come in to get it thinned out more and she managed to squeeze me in the next day. She was very kind and thinned it out exactly how I wanted and I can't be happier with my cut. I could tell she was booked through the day back to back so for her to make room for me the next day since I was traveling the day after was very sweet of her. I seriously can't imagine going to someone else to get my hair done after coming here. Tia is accommodating, friendly, experienced, and hardworking.

So I decided to try this place and glad to say I've found my new hair studio. First off, it gets pretty busy considering it's the owner himself, Jack, with no helpers (once in a while his wife will be there to help out) so definitely call to make appointment first, would not recommend walk ins, even if you absolutely need same-day haircut, call first. Second, the owner is pretty Asian so the haircut is more Asian styled, and that's perfect for me but I'm sure if you show him a picture or accurately describes the haircut you want he's definitely more than qualified to get you what you want. He also engages in conversation with you throughout the cut/wash, and usually I don't like to talk while getting a haircut but conversing with him was actually pretty pleasant, very down to earth kind of guy. Definitely will be coming back! Conveniently located in the 168 Supermarket plaza but facing the street so plenty of parking/street parking.

I hadn't done anything to my hair in about 2 plus years and let my gray roots come in. My hubby is…read moreretiring soon (he's my silver haired fox) so I decided to finally embrace my gray, too. The hair that Adriana had to deal with was "virgin" hair untouched by processing but very fine. I don't know anything about balayage (and that it works from the tips to the root, not vice-versa) so she helpfully showed me a few pics of gray highlighting and we were set to go. I love the ambience there; very chillax. This happened right between Thanksgiving and Christmas and you get burnt out on all the bouncy music everywhere you go. Luckily, I picked a very quiet establishment with just soft jazzy versions of the holiday stuff. The many live plants as decor really adds to the spa vibe. Make sure you keep your voices low so as not to disturb other patrons, many of whom are fellow Asians like me. I read on their website about the "Head Spa" that they do, which is kind of a 20/40/60 minute facial but for your scalp. Those chairs are so comfy you will, if you're not careful, fall asleep. Every major service (cut and highlights for me) will include a scalp massage. They block out the overhead lights and you feel like you're floating lying down. I might come back regularly for this alone. I recommend this place for people who have stress headaches. They say they use pure jojoba and help exfoliate your scalp. The total for a long hair cut was $94 and the cost of highlights was $325. You put down $100 deposit with your credit card when you make the appointment and they don't cash it until your service is complete. Make sure you're on time or early (I suggest at least 15 mins) or you will be charged 100% penalty. Parking is limited to behind Lake Ave in "Shoppers Lane." If they run out of spots you can also park at the Trader Joe's (west side of Lake) and just buy something there so you can get validated. It was pricey but well worth it. My stylist advised that I come in every few months for toner rinse to keep the highlights bright since the gray will just come in naturally after that. Don't be afraid to do it! Ask for Adriana.

I had straight across bangs when I walked in so it's not like I don't like bangs on me. They just look like I cut them myself & messed up LOL but I styled them myself just now & it's a little better. . I had such a great experience with Reyka last time so I'm quite disappointed in my experience this time with Yuri. She was very kind but I don't think she asked enough questions throughout the process to know what I wanted. I know it's hard to get 100% exactly what you want unless the stylist can read your mind so I really don't mind it looking a little different. But, the photo I took as soon as I got in the car shows how she sent my bangs out the door... which... I have textured hair but I look like I got smacked by a tornado It was $120 for this :( I drove out from west LA because I really trusted this salon but I think... it's time to find a different one or try Reyka again :(

Unfortunately, there was a significant language barrier, as my stylist only spoke Mandarin, which led to miscommunication throughout the appointment. I showed a reference photo of the hairstyle I wanted, hoping it could be achieved, but it seemed the stylist did not fully understand the look I was going for. Sadly, I left feeling very unhappy with the final result and felt my hair was not done as requested. I still paid out of courtesy for the time and appointment slot, but after this experience, I do not plan on returning. As a first-time client, I didn't feel there was enough attention paid to understanding or meeting my expectations. I left the salon feeling so ugly and discouraged. I basically paid to have my hair messed up by the specialist. Worst experience ever. I recommend for anyone to double research options where they have stylist that listen to clients needs

This is a long overdue review (probably more like a rant at this point) and specifically for the…read moreperm result. I visited Superb Cut (Haojiancai) a few years back in November when they were newly opened. I took advantage of their promotion to get 20% off (if you bring someone along for service). Also based on their marketing it seemed like they were a pretty well known salon from Taiwan so I decided to give this place a try. Before I begin, let me include some background info to the events as I believe this played a crucial part to my experience** My stylist's English was not the best and my mandarin skills were good (I can understand and speak it) but it's not my primary language. I would've preferred English but we ended up communicating in mandarin throughout the entire process. I also always go into any salon with low expectations and have an understanding that the actual result may be different than what I have imagined. Okay, here we go... I wanted to try a digital perm BUT I had partially bleached hair, so I asked beforehand if I am a suitable candidate for perming. The stylist at the time had said yes, but it will be frizzy. I asked if he could provide me a photo bc I wasn't confident in my understanding of what he meant especially if I was to pay for such an expensive procedure. He said he was not able to. I still decided to do it bc I was suitable (spoiler: big mistake). After he was done, I did not like it, but you know when you feel you got put on the spot and you're not comfortable enough to say you hate it so you force yourself to say yes it looks good? That's how I felt and at that point I was ready to go home and just convince myself I liked it. Either way I accepted it and paid and left. Another thing that soured this experience was I got charged for digital perm (more/most expensive) even though I was only given a cold perm (cheaper with no heat or weird gadgets at all, just rollers). I think with tip I paid $300 in total. The next day (or two?) I noticed my hair was straight (at most wavy WITH frizz) even though I followed the procedure to get the best curls including applying hair mousse and scrunching it up. I called and spoke to them about this situation and they rescheduled me to fix it (good on them). However, looking back, I should've just asked for a partial refund rather than having them fix it bc the fix was not any better. I came in again and this time he actually gave me a digital perm because my hair needed heat for curls to hold up. I also mentioned that rather than making my hair more voluminous, the perm made it more flat. He said it was flat because I needed a root perm to really lift the hair. He said he'll do it for me this time and then right as we were starting the service he wanted to charge me a partial price for the root perm (something like half or 40% of the original price, I forget). I declined saying if it cost extra I will just continue with the fix and that's it. He then gave it to me for free as compensation for my time of coming in again (which I do appreciate that). The perm was finally done and this time the curls did hold but I still didn't like it. My hair was fried and for the next year or so I just wore my hair up so I didn't have to deal with how much I disliked it. I thought the perm would give me a nice volume but instead my hair looked damaged and I looked much older. However this was my first perm so I had nothing to compare to. I know in the end, the decision to perm was mine but I just wished the stylist had advised against it knowing it might not look good or (not) turn out the way I wanted. Telling me I was suitable and not willing/able to provide a photo of what he meant by frizzy when my hair couldn't even perm properly at the end just made the whole situation seem like a money grab, especially since this was my first experience with this salon and a first perm as well. 2 stars for the willingness to fix it and overall staff was still friendly and nice. TLDR: I was dissatisfied on how my digital perm turned out (flat, straight, and frizzy) and had to go back again to get it fixed which again turned out frizzy and damaged and far below what I had prepared myself for. Although service was friendly and the stylist was nice, I felt the stylist did not properly advise (against) the service I wanted given I had partially bleached hair, just for the sake of a sale.
