After being in California for about a week, my daughter was determined to find a place that had popping boba. We'd tried a few other boba shops along the way, but they either didn't have it or didn't have the flavors she wanted. Then we found Ume! They had mango popping boba, which was exactly what she had been looking for, so she ordered the mango tea with passion fruit . There was a pretty good line when we arrived, which is always a good sign, but they were moving through the orders quickly and we didn't have to wait too long. The shop itself was bright, colorful, and had a fun atmosphere. Her drink was delicious, and the mango popping boba was definitely a hit. The only thing she wasn't a fan of was the passion fruit seeds. She wasn't expecting quite so many of them, and they definitely weren't her favorite part of the drink. My husband loved his mandarin tea(no caffeine) so even our baby tried a sip and loved . It wasn't mine and my daughter's jam, we got two passion fruit mango tea but definitely great on a hot day. I would try it again. The guys working were very lost and slow my drinks were ready for about 5 mins sitting far away from reach and he was turning and standing around and right when he was starting to grab my drinks a lady asked for help in ordering machine so he left my drinks there and walked away to help, I patiently waited. Finally a location close! Their service was really fast, it's nice and clean, the food was made well and I'd definitely order again. I got their popcorn chicken- salt & pepper seasoning & spicy. I thought it was seasoned really well. The popcorn pieces are larger chunks and I feel like you get a very good serving size. They're crispy, seasoned and fresh- one of the better places for this item! For a drink I got their pistachio jasmine with boba and 70% sweetness. It's so good, especially for a pistachio lover like me. Their packaging it really nice too. This one has the perfect location - Los Gatos downtown. The staffs are super diligent that they even open earlier than those other ume locations - 10am. They were obviously short- staffed during the holiday seasons but seems that they are working hard to make it through! I like the fact that they offer 15% sugar for their yogurt drinks, which is kids friendly. I ordered their tangulu yogurt slush as well as lychee watermelon tea. I think both are good, especially the yogurt had exceed my expectations with decent amount of sweetness and sourness. Let me start by saying I gave this place multiple tries before writing this review. The first time, they had barely just opened, so I figured it was because they were new. Other times I excused the slow service because they were busy. But now there's no excuse. Today I placed an order and waited 10 minutes... then 15 minutes... and still no drink. While I was waiting, another person walked in, ordered at the cashier, and had their drink in hand within two minutes. Several of us sitting there looked at each other like, "Are you kidding me?" I finally got up and said, "Hey, I ordered our drinks a while ago." The employee asked for my name, searched around for the order receipt, and said, "Oh, it's right here -- they'll be up shortly." I've seen this exact thing happen here multiple times because they're disorganized with orders. I do not recommend coming here. I really miss Tea Fermata -- they were even busier than this place, but it never felt like a wait. read more

My daughter regularly eats there with her friends from LGHS, and they often get the orders wrong, but today was the worst experience. The employee who helped them was a very young man -- she didn't catch his name, but he was very young, Asian, and extremely rude. They ordered a not-spicy popcorn chicken, but he gave them a spicy one. When they told him it was spicy, he replied: "And what do you want, for me to remake it?" They said yes, and he responded in a rude tone: "Really?" They answered: "Well... yes?" Then he repeated, "You want me to remake it??" laughing, followed by an annoyed expression and saying "Ugh." He then came back and said, "Give me the old one." My daughter and her friends handed it to him, and he angrily threw it in the trash. They also ordered a drink with boba, but it didn't have boba -- which happens frequently. It seems they don't pay attention and often hand out drinks without boba. The service is very poor. They talk over customers while they are ordering and don't listen. It feels like they think it's easy to treat young girls badly when they are alone. The boba was a mix of hard gross boba and some soft, so I guess I came at a bad time when the boba was old (1:30pm on Thursday) . I asked for 100% sweet, didn't taste any sweetness in the milk and there was a lot of ice in the drink even though I asked for less ice. This place is so cute, and my daughter absolutely loves this place. We go 1-2 times per week, and I really like the concept. The drinks menu is huge, so many options, also a fair amount of food options. The drinks come out at a reasonable pace, but food takes a long time. It's not uncommon to wait 20 minutes or more just for fries. I would give this place 5 stars if the food would come out quicker. Tip: The large plastic cups are really well made, a lot thicker than regular coffee shop cups, and has a cute print on them. We save them and use them as water cups at home. read more

Came for their grand opening where they were having BOGO deals. I love and hate these weekends. I mean, how can you pass up a BOGO, especially with how much boba drinks cost nowadays. But the lines and waits are usually pretty long. I think I ended up waiting about half an hour to order and maybe another 15 minutes for my drinks. Not horrible but I feel I probably had better things to do. Since I had waited that long, I had to get 4 drinks total. Oh and the drinks have to be the same for the BOGO. So I got the coco mango jasmine bloom and the passion fruit green tea with jelly and boba. They were out of the coconut pudding so they let me substitute with green tea jelly. But without the coconut pudding is it really a coco mango jasmine bloom. Haha. Anyways I was able to customize the sweetness level on both and the ice level on the passion fruit tea. Solid drinks. And at half off, you can't really beat it. Service was quick and efficient. Oh and they had someone dressed up like the giant pink bunny mascot and the guy/girl was a hoot, making lots of people laugh with their mannerisms. read more

I've been to Ume Tea in Los Gatos several times, and while I've grown accustomed to the long wait times due to understaffing, what I experienced during my last visit was far more concerning. While waiting for my order, I witnessed a staff member in the back--responsible for preparing food--push down an overflowing trash bin. Immediately after, this same employee went to use the restroom and then returned to the kitchen wearing the same gloves they had used for both tasks. Without changing gloves or washing hands, they resumed handling food. This is not just disgusting--it's a serious violation of basic food safety protocols. Such behavior can introduce fecal bacteria into the food preparation area and posing a significant health risk to customers.. No patron should ever be subjected to this level of negligence. The health and safety of customers should be a top priority, and this kind of disregard is unacceptable. I urge the management at Ume Tea to address these hygiene issues immediately. Until then, I cannot recommend this place, and I hope other patrons will be cautious. Everyone deserves to dine in a clean and safe environment. read more
