DO NOT BANK HERE! Nightmare. They will not notify you when your account is negative. Even after closing the account, they still allowed my card to get charge and incur more fees without the option of O/D reversal. I got married and they never changed my legal name. Also, they advertise on Account Portal and the glitches are ridiculous. Customer Service is ho-hum. I wish i could give negative stars as they've wasted hours of my life i will never get back correcting their mistakes. read more

Absolutely the worst bank ever! They will freeze your account with plenty of money in it for no reason. I have spent hours dealing with customer service to try to get my account "activate" again only for request to be ignored. I called up customer service to get my account activated again, they told me to go to the local branch and give them my id, card. I made my way over there only to get it denied by the manager on duty. He claimed he had the access to re-activate my account but denied in fear of losing his job. Several days later, I called but this time they asked me to come in again to show my ID. This branch is a laughing stock to any functional banks out there. Do not bring your money here. If Umpqua Bank. shuts down my account for this review. It will be a form of retaliation for this review. read more

Stay Away from this bank Worst bank ever to do business with. Since the merger with Columbia bank, Umpqua has become the bank of frauds, thieves and criminals. Stay away if you don't wanna lose all your balance and savings. Got a prank call indicating that my bank card has been illegally charged for $59.00. I quickly logged-in to my account while on the call and could not see the charge. They stressed they could see it on their side. Few days later, a little over $13k disappeared from my accounts. Don't do business with these people, they are bad people since the merger with Columbia bank merger. Stay away. To be honest, there shouldn't be a star at all for this bank. Don't trust this bank's offer. Half year ago I followed their an offer open a check account and do everything they required and wait few months still didn't get the $200 bonus. When I called them, they said they don't know about it then I cancelled the account. I try to upload their document, but Yelp can't let me do. read more

In A Nutshell: -I'm not a member of Umpqua but they were nice enough to have selected my business to be featured in their, "Local Spotlight", where they display/sell items within the bank. -It's definitely not your standard boring bank. This place even has water available for your 4 legged friend. -You don't have to be a member to use their meeting room either. Overall, the employees are all super-cool, knowledgeable and helpful. I want to start by saying that I have not been to a bank branch, so this is a review overall for Umpqua Bank. I was not a customer of Umpqua, but became one when they approved my PPP loan. I have banked with Wells Fargo forever, but because I am newly self employed, I do not have a separate business bank account with them. WF did not even give me the option of applying for the PPP loan and when I called their customer service, after talking with an associate, their supervisor and then their manager, no one was able to help me. The manager told me she will open a "case" for me and I will be hearing from someone in a few days after they investigate my concern (which was whether it was WF's internal policy to not give PPP to non-business account holders or if that was a federal policy - that it is not fair to us self employed folks that really don't need a separate account for our business). This was about a month ago and I still have not heard a thing from WF. In the meanwhile, I heard on the news that community banks are receiving a larger portion of funding the second time around than the first and some do not require existing relationships. So, I stumbled across Umpqua. Their website was very clear that they had run out of round 1 funding but when round 2 opens up, by leaving my contact info, they could notify me, so I did. I immediately received an acknowledgement email saying that they got my request. About 10 days later, I received an email saying that they are accepting new applications so I applied right away. About a week later, I got an email saying I was approved. Once I signed off on the docs, I was funded within a couple of days! Thank you Umpqua for helping out the little guys like me!!! read more

I have a checking account in Proctor district Tacoma just for pure convenience to get cash for farmers market purchasing. I was account holder for 10 plus years. It is sad to see the service levels are going from bad to worse. Hours of operations are slashed. Saturday morning is closed.Worst of all I bought 2 Certificates of deposits in 2018 for 2.5% interest and they auto renewEd them with 10 day notice into a 0.2% 2 year extension with $1,000 withdraw penalties. after 3 years of investing I walked out with a mere $50 interest on a $10k deposit. I was unfortunate enough to have to deal with Bryan VanHuystee, as he was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. When I came to the bank with an honest inquiry on a home refi, it was their professional opinion it was feasible. I wouldnt have wasted my time to pursue one, had they opined otherwise. It became apparent to me that he was just looking to make a sale when the loan didnt close. He insinuated that I was misleading in some way shape or form about my finances. I suspect he didn't understand enough about our situation to ask for the proper documents/information. Why did he, being the professional, talk to clients in a manner they feel they have to defend themselves? He made me feel so interrogated during a phone call that we ended up in a shouting match. His assistants, Adam and Tiffany, each apologized on his behalf following this call. As shocking as this may sound, it is it true and corporate offices will get a formal letter regarding this incident. Adam and Tiffany, I must add, maintained their professionalism from beginning to end; they were very courteous, responsive and dedicated to their clients. I think they were just as shocked as I was of how Bryan treated us. read more

I don't even know where to start with explaining how different Umpqua is. I banked at Wells Fargo for years and finally got sick of the big bank mentality. I grew up in Oregon and knew of Umpqua Bank and was happy to see they finally moved to California. I went in, took the tour of the bank from Daniel and Justin, and decided to open up my accounts here. I haven't looked back since! Here are some of the things I love about the place. -The place looks like a hotel lobby. It's super nice and doesn't look like a bank at all. -They have their own blend of coffee made for them by a customer in Oregon which they brew in all their stores -They have a table in the bank where they showcase a local businesses products for free. When I got my tour it was a local skateboard company. Now it's a local vegan nutriotnal supplement company. -They have free wi-fi and wireless printing available. They even have ipad's they lend out if you forgot your computer. -They lend out their board room to local businesses and non-profits when they aren't using it. You just have to tell them the date you need and they add it to their calendar. -There is a silver phone in the lobby which connects directly to the front desk of the President of the company. If you have an issue or praise, you simply pick up the phone and talk to the guy. It's nuts! -They actually seem like they like getting involved with their community. Not just for publicity or to announce it on their site, but because they enjoy it. Strange to see from a bank nowadays. The only thing bad I could say is that they don't have a lot of the technological bells and whistles that some of the big banks offer. But to be honest, I'd rather bank somewhere with people are nice and honest and not have that stuff than somewhere that does but the people are soulsucking d-bags. That's just me though. read more

Umpqua Bank really sucks! I had to call several times just to speak with someone so that I can register online and then they could not help me over the phone. Told me to go into a local branch to get any data.......what kind of service is that??? When you call them, the representatives pick up the phone and say "world's greatest bank" or something like that. I have news for them!! They are terrible at providing service! read more

There's a new breed of banks coming, and I hope they take over the giants of old. The first thing you'll notice when you walk into Umpqua bank is the open air of welcome and hospitality. Talk to anyone who works there and you'll find none of the dour wearied faces you've come to expect from other banks. The tellers at the counter are actually interested in helping you, and the associates in the offices never come across as pushy or selling. The best part of my experience with Umpqua? They truly love the community. I've seen in two occasions (and one was first-hand experience) the way Umpqua goes beyond banking, showing an honest interest in what's going on around them, and putting in genuine effort in reaching out and supporting local endeavors. On both occasions, Umpqua Bank was generous to donate their space to host fundraisers and benefit galleries, and Daniel in particular has been absolutely wonderful to work with, not just in coordinating the events, but taking an actual interest in the success of the events. But Umpqua has reversed the order of things, and is a pioneer in community banking--community (people) first and the transactions will follow. The Assistant VP of the San Jose branch, Whitney, and all of the Relationship Bankers there, Jessica, Omar, and Jackie, know me by name and make me feel so welcome when I visit. I support entrepreneurs in all phases of launching start-ups. And, it all started with Umpqua's evening Catalyst Series in San Francisco which gave me the opportunity to hear luminaries at the crossroads of business and technology share the secrets to their success. When I need a quiet place for that first client-call or a place to host a meeting that mirrors the professionalism I bring to my consultancy, I have a place to go. Of course, I am bringing my business to Umpqua! My only wish is that Umpqua would motor East and set up some locations on that coast.
