I just went to Uncle Bills for the first time this morning....I LOVED IT! i really enjoyed the whole 50's decor thing that they had going on....I had a Bacon Omlette,3 eggs (although i asked for two and got it :) ) toast and hash browns....i was so full i couldnt eat it all, me and my mother took all of our food to go and the waitress was just fantastic about it she was really nice and she actually made me feel like every thing was truly up to me. i also really like the fact that you could see them cooking EVERYTHING right in front of you (as long as you sat by the bar) i was very content with the place and hope to go back there manyatime :) read more

Awesome 50's style diner with an extremely friendly staff and amazing breakfast with great prices. They have FREE Wi-Fi and have added a nice LCD to watch TV. Best breakfast for miles. You get to watch them make your food in classic short order fashion. Uncle Bill and Tim are a riot and it's just a great place to visit. We stopped for dinner and found this place on Yelp. The place is decorated in 50's items and is a smaller but cozy place. The food tastes good and the French toast was very good. The reason for my 3 star rating was the staff. We asked for several recommendations as we had not been here before and they gave us there thoughts which was appreciative but the one waitress had a mouth and used several words that were not appropriate and we did not find funny. Several other comments were made when coming over to check on us that just left us shaking our head at this place. Not sure if it was just an off night but not sure I would want to bring kids there to listen to that. My wife was also uncomfortable and just made the whole experience awkward. read more

After driving by this place many times, I decided to stop in to try it out. I love this place. The staff is friendly and fun, and the food is always good. As far as diners go, this is the top of the list. The only negative thing that I can say about it is that during busy times it is tough to get a seat. But for me, it is worth the wait. Super friendly staff who server a quick traditional breakfast. This place has been a Schaumburg/Roselle go to restaurant for decades. It's the kind of place where they know their customer's names, and always have a smile on their face. Don't expect fancy breakfast and lunch fair... it's simple but we'll executed food. This place is as good as a diner on the side of the road can be. I ordered a fairly standard breakfast: eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes, and toast. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted delicious. The other customers were friendly and appropriately chatty (to a stranger) and the staff (including the owner) was welcoming and courteous. I want to give this place a 4th star, but they are "too-friendly". Food is quite good as are the portions, but compare to "Checkers" (formerly Spring Grove) they Uncle Bills is a bit pricier and slightly smaller portions. But it's character is unique, reminiscent of the diners of yore, which adds to the experience. read more

Great cream soups on Thursdays and one of the best steak sandwiches around.

We enjoyed breakfast at this diner before heading back home after visiting family. Food was good the server mixed up our order slightly, but the food was good and reasonably priced. We are regulars at Uncle Bill's. This is not a fine dining experience. It's an old restaurant with surly but funny and friendly waitresses. The food is probably something you could make for yourself at home and it's nothing fancy, which is why we love it! Waitresses are known for having conversations with the regulars from across the room and while waiting on other tables. There's always an opinion and 50's music playing in the background. We love the atmosphere here, very down home. We've taken visiting family here and they all loved it. One of the few places I can get homemade liver and onions. Restaurant snobs will not enjoy this place, regular people will. read more

My sister raves about this place and couldn't wait to take me to "Uncle Bill's" I'm so glad that she took me their. My sister and I had ordered water with our meal and the waitress offered to buy us a beverage of our choice. We thought she was joking but she was serious. The staff left me with an impression that i'll never forget. I was only in town for a week and we ate their twice. My sister told them my name was " the best sister in the world" lol when we went back the second time they remembered me and said Hi best sister in the world..... We used to really like this place... Now it makes our stomachs crawl! One visit for lunch my wife ordered cottage cheese and it was a very large serving. My wife finished her lunch but did NOT finish the CC. She went to the restroom and while she was away another couple came in and the women wanted Cottage Cheese. She was told they were out and then ordered fruit. I few minutes later the waitress (who'd served us) came back and said she found some CC and set it on the table. Where do you think the CC came from? The last time we went there I ordered mash potatoes, we I was finished I asked for a take out box. While, putting the potatoes in the box I noticed a HUGE black hair. Makes me sick just thinking about it. Stay away if you value your health! read more

I travel a lot and enjoy eating in diners on my journeys. I consulted Yelp today while in Roselle. The positive reviews got my attention, so decided to give Uncle Bill's a try for a late lunch. It was very disappointing, and it is a safe bet that this joint won't ever be featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on The Food Network!! The place was virtually empty and the cook was lying down (napping?) on the bench of a booth by the window. I did not know he was the cook or I probably would have left right then. There was one middle-aged waitress and a younger waitress she appeared to be training. The older one was loudly complaining about another waitress who was not there at the time. The entire time I was there she complained. I ordered a Coke, a bowl of chicken soup and a cheeseburger. The Coke tasted flat, so she replaced it, but blamed it on their soda machine and said it is not like what I would get at McDonald's! What does that mean?! Isn't a Coke the same everywhere?! While eating my soup - straight out of a Campbell's can I am sure - I saw the cook popping food into his mouth while he cooked my burger!! As soon as he plated my food, he sat down at the counter, put on headphones and a backwards ball cap and commenced checking his phone!! REALLY? Although the burger looked okay, my appetite was lost when I saw this joker eating while preparing my food. Not a good impression at all. Maybe the place is better supervised when Uncle Bill is present, but it was a disaster without him there to keep an eye on his employees. I will not go back! read more

I went with my family to "Uncle Bill's Diner" for breakfast. We all loved the retro theme and thought that it was a very family friendly place to go. The employees were very upbeat, helpful, and always had a smile on their face. The food was good, but for the price that we paid it could have been a little better. The omelet was a little dry and there was very little eggs on one of the orders. Overall I was satisfied but for that same price I could have went to Denny's for a little more higher quality. read more

This place sticks out (in a good way) amongst all the chain restaurants in the Schaumburg area. We've been living in the area for over 5 years and finally decided to give Uncle Bill's a first try the other day. The soups, sandwiches, and breakfast fare were all delicious and to my family's liking. The service was very friendly and accommodating, and the prices are a good value. I got the sense there were quite a few loyal regular patrons in there. I'm glad we discovered Uncle Bill's and recommend it to anyone looking to change up the routine.
