I needed a quick bite pizza and wondering which is better Uncle Faith or Megabite Pizza in Commercial/Broadway station. I stopped both place and the freshness were almost same. Some looked dried and others has runny cheese on it. However I noticed one big difference. Uncle Faith pizza has more creative and more vegetarian choice. And topping looked more densed. This time I had pesto, eggplant and artichoke pizza. Very good volume and delicious. Definitely I will try that again. read more

Not what it used to be. As we live just off the Drive, we've been coming here for 12 years. Our last few experiences cement our view that the quality has steadily dropped due to obvious cost cutting. Since the pandemic , not a lot of toppings, a huge lack of cheese. Sauce is now lacking. Sometimes it's overcooked (veggies dried out) . It's no longer recognizable compared to the awesomeness Uncle Fatih's used to represent. read more

I got a special place for Uncle Fatihs in my heart as the pizza of choice for so many college get-togethers, D&D nights and pre-Rio quick slices. Unfortunately, time has not been kind. They're still affordable, but I guess with the pandemic and inflation they've taken it out of quality. I've ordered a few times recently for get-togethers and without fail, the pizzas are just slabs of dough with a faint whisper of sauce, a vague description of cheese, and the bare number of toppings necessary to legally claim that it's a "x" pizza. I hope things get better for them, or they raise their prices and bring back the pizza I used to know. Street pizza is awesome. I came here on a whim while passing by the area. The place is dirty-looking with paper plates blowing around on the sidewalk outside. Excellent. This, my friends, is how you know it's good. They had 3 types of pizza available that day. So, I did the Royal Sampler (Pepperoni, Hawaiian, Deluxe). Cheap, tasty, flavourful. Be sure to read this poem that some guy wrote about Uncle Fatih's. It's in a frame between the windows on the inside. Don't remember too much about the poem itself, but there was a mention about the pizza giving the writer an erection. I'll admit there were a few good chuckles. I had a mailer coupon for 1 Large Pepperoni or Cheese pizza for $7.99 via online order so I decided to come pick up a Pepperoni for late night dinner. The pizza itself is pretty good with a generous amount of toppings and cheese while not being overly greasy. I was so hungry after work and Uncle Fatih seemed like perfect place for a small meal. It was a very small pizza shop comparing to Fresh Slice in this area and ordered a slice of Pulled Pork which cost $2.25 after tax. Pizza itself was alright and not much toppings on it. Crust was light and crispy which I liked. I can taste a bit of BBQ sauce but didn't taste much of pork toppings. Toppings were slightly dry. Uncle Fatih is bit better than Fresh Slice, however I'd rather go to Fire Pizza instead for better tasting pizza. Perfect place for people watching. I ordered an extra large capicollo & mushroom. I usually get them by the slice and its my favourite. Me and my cousin ate the pizza right there on the tiny counter top. I gotta say ithe crust was dry. Fresh out of the oven and it was a bit much on the dry side. Had to use the ranch sauce to moisten the crust. Was it day old dough ? Best slice pizza place in the city They have lots of toppings and a large variety of slices to choose from. This place is so much better then that crappy Fresh Slice chain. If you have a chance grab a slice and you will notice the difference. They top their slices with a lot of ingredients until most places which is more dough then anything else. The pizza here is pretty good. By pretty good, I mean clearly superior to Fresh Slice. I refuse to eat at FS anymore on account of their crappy pizza. Sorry, I have standards now that I've tried French and Italian pizza firsthand! I had two slices last night - a pesto-cheese and a cheese. It came to $4.50 with tax. There were about a dozen different pizzas to choose from during our visit. They have a couple dressings for your pizza if you so choose - mayo, garlic and chili flakes among them. This review has little to do with the pizza, unfortunately. I've been here once or twice before, though more frequently to the Kitsilano and the Cambie/Broadway locations. Our visit at about 8:30-9 at night found the tiny storefront busy. Tiny is being generous - the customer area is beyond cramped. There's bar seating for maybe five, and a couple seats outside. The lack of space and some of the characters hanging around made me quite uncomfortable. Cheap pizza be damned! Our server was reasonably friendly - much more so than I've found at other slice places along Commercial. Pizza Garden I'm looking at you - if your employees don't give a damn about the customers, that's a reflection of the management. Another reason I wasn't so thrilled with my visit was the noise. It's loud inside Fatih's but even louder outside. Traffic on Broadway and Commercial, sirens, etc were to blame. After a long, somewhat hangry evening, I guess I was just looking for a bit more peace and quiet. This place was not my choice. Parking situation is good. Just outside the doors are a couple parking spots, as well as across the street in front of the Rio. Failing that, there's plenty of parking in the nearby residential area. You're also a block from Commercial-Broadway skytrain station, and the 99 and numerous other buses, so there's that. I won't be returning to this location. It's about time I tried some of the more spendy pizza places on the drive, and once that's accomplished, the other by the slice storefronts should expect to see me! read more

I have been coming here for years. But I really must say that I was disgusted when I ordered a slice and the female working the counter sneezed into her hand then proceeded to wipe the contents on her pants, she then went to grab the plate to get my slice. I had to stop her and ask her to wash her hands. She left the counter to wash her hands then proceeded to go over to the mirror and with her clean hands and started combing her hair with her hands then put her hair back up into a bun. Love it or hate it, Vancouverites tend to have a passionate argument one way or the other for Uncle Fatih's. How this humble little spot got such a cult following, i'll never know - though if memory serves me (and trust me, most times Fatih's made a cameo, the memories have been a bit fuzzy), I dare say that much of the love comes from the fact it's open late. But is it great pizza? I recently had the rare opportunity to nab some Fatih's when I was neither intoxicated or hung over - on our way to a show and with very little fuel, we popped in here for a quickie and surprisingly, it didn't live up to the OMG that it induces when in the two states mentioned above. What this is, is a good selection of good pizza at a good price. It's not rocket science. It's nothing to write home about. It's decent pizza. I'm normally not a cheese eater, let alone pizza so it really says a lot when I actually enjoy the slices they serve at Uncle Fatih's. An old friend recommended this pizza parlor to me. When I finally visited I was definitely not impressed by its location/decor but don't let that fool you because the food here is really awesome. I'm pretty sure all their toppings are unique in their own right but I'd say the most special ones are the potato topping pizza and their blue cheese/ground beef. Ok, some New Yorkers in particular are very picky about their pizza. They all say that New York has the best pizza and after many trips to NYC, I don't agree at all. There might have been a time where pizza should only have certain topics, but I beleive those days are over. Pizza should be as creative as possible and Uncle Fatih's serves up a mean slice. This is not gourmet pizza this is late night "hit's the spot" pizza. It's cheap, fast, and hot. Usually this place is the busiest at 1 or 2 am, which indicates what type of joint it is. I feel like this place is riding on fond memories of East Van devotees from a time when Uncle Fatih's actually had good pizza for a good price. I used to be too poor for dollar pizza (yes, for serious - a veggie stir-fry is cheap!) and lived a little further south, so I hadn't tried this place until a few year ago. Raving about the awesomeness that is potatoes on pizza, my friends pulled me in and I got, I don't know, something. And I've been continuing to get "I don't know, something" ever since.. None of it is really worth remembering, just something fast and cheap that I ate because everyone else wanted to go there, or because it's in a good location, or because it's still open when other places aren't. Its over-greasy, the toppings aren't very good, and there is a notable lack of cheese on most of them. Ugh. I don't understand why on earth everyone was raving about this place. I went here a few years ago based on a floormate's recommendation of how delicious and cheap it is. Cheap, it was. The interior was filthy, but I was expecting that (the most charming places are usually a little dirty). Although, I can't say I much enjoyed the dead flies lying around. The most important part: the pizza. That's the special part about this place, right? The pizza? I think people are infatuated with the concept of "this cute little hidden nook that has glorious pizza". Because the pizza--I'm going to say it--was Bad. I did not enjoy the pizza at all. Firstly, I would like to absolve the myth surrounding the name of this pizzeria- it is not pronounced "Uncle Fatties," it is "Uncle Fa-tea-hhh" with a bit of a throaty influence on the h's. Be that as it may, the mispronunciation of the name only adds to the crunch. Uncle Fatih's, albeit located on the East-SIDE *finger representation of the "E" just in-case you missed it*, is widely known by many Vancouverites as 'the best pizza I've ever had.' That being said, if you're not comfortable with what the East-side dishes out, then I suggest grabbing a slice when it's light out- you know, safety first and all. 'It's a tight squeeze' is a bit of an understatement for Uncle Fatih's, so don't expect to dine-in; the patriots of this place know well enough that you get your pizza, get out, and stand there eating it on the corner of Commercial and Broadway. If you're kind, you can buy a slice for someone on the block who's also hungry, and if you aren't, you can afford to be at Uncle Fatih's considering that you can get 2 large slices of pizza and a waterbottle slash a can of your poison, for only 4 dollars. Recommended slice of heaven: Potato, Blue Cheese and Ground Beef, Sundried Toe-MA-toe or Atrichoke. If you aren't sure which one you would like, a large pizza is ONLY $9.99; grab a slice of each pizza, take it home and decide which one you like best. OK, first off before I get into my rant, Uncle Faith's is the best of the worst pizza places on the drive. If you want a cheap slice, you can't do better. If you want a cheap pie, go here. There are 2 classes of pizza places on The Drive. You have your excellent high end pies from Marcello's and Lombardo's, both of which serve up a really fantastic product, and you have your dime a dozen crap hole pizza dives which are out to make a buck off slices. The latter type seem to multiply on The Drive like vermin (though they're all slowly getting bought up by Megacrap). Apparently The Drive has such an insatiable appetite for weak pizza that the recently opened Mediterranean Fire, which used to serve donair (yeah yeah, yet another donair place on the drive) changed their menu to serve crappy pizza slices because that's what everyone wants. Of these bottom feeder pizza places there are very few that actually have a product that is even remotely differentiable from any of the others. Urban Grain serves up their pies on a slightly different crust than most and I commend them for it. The only other place on the drive that isn't Freshmegaslicegreasehole, is Uncle Faith's. They actually put a decent amount of toppings on their pizza and seem to care about the quality of their product (though it could use a bit more cheese). About that - it seems in Vancouver that pizza places get away with putting half as much cheese on their pizzas and serving it with range dressing as if you wouldn't notice that you got shafted on the cheese (seriously, bottom end pizza in Vancouver is worse than most everywhere else in N.America). I know this has been a rambling post that has barely mentioned Uncle Faith's but I'm about to get to the reason I've come here to write this review at all. Go to Uncle Faith's website. Having been an off and on customer for many years, Uncle Fatih's has always been my go to for cheapy pizza. It's close to my home and it's convenience has drawn me in so many times. Over the last two years, my son has started asking for "pizza lunch" regularly enough that I find myself stopping in once a week (usually before they get busy for lunch). Maybe it was because I was later than usual and they were busy that I had an issue today. It wasn't the girl behind the counter that normally serves me so cheerily. I ordered the same as always, two slices in a box with a little container to put some dip in. "50 cents for the box," I am told. Really? I come here all the time and have never been charged extra for a box. "No box for 2 pieces, I can only give you a bag if you don't want to pay." Sorry, you expect me to walk home 4 blocks (pushing a stroller that requires both hands to maneuver) with two loose slices of pizza that have been thrown into a bag? No, nevermind, cancel my order. And she rolls her eyes, lets out a weary sigh, and gives me the stink eye as I wrestle my stroller back out the door. The upside to all this? I walked 5 minutes north along the Drive to Fire Pizza and was reminded that their pizza is quite a bit tastier and there's more selection (love the lamb pizza). Screw the convenient location, good service and better pizza is worth a five minute walk and I saved 50 cents. There was no issue getting a box at Fire Pizza. read more

Uncle Fatih's Pizza (not 'faith' as I've been pronouncing it for years) at the north-west corner of the Broadway and Commercial Drive intersection is admittedly not much to look it, but certainly worthy of a visit. Having driven by it hundreds of times, I finally managed to pay this establishment a visit and it exceeded my expectations! Get this: two slices of fresh pizza (of your choice) and a drink (pop or water) for $4.50 - out of this world, right? The fresh slices presented to you aren't your typical (boring) pepperoni or Hawaiian pizzas (though they are available). If I may suggest, try the 'Beef and Blue Cheese' (ground beef with blue cheese dressing) and the 'Plain Pesto' (pesto sauce, cheddar cheese and mozzarella) - you'll thank me for it. To kick it up a notch, drizzle it with the complimentary ranch sauce and you'll want to pay the uncle another visit. Flavours of these pizzas may sound a little unorthodox to a beginner pizza lover, but I can assure you that they mesh extremely well. In addition, the dough and crust is not greasy or soaked in oil. Rather, it's as fresh as bread from an oven and equally as enjoyable as the pizza itself. There is a reason why this place has a line-up every now and then; and now I know why.
