Y'all. My wife and I pulled off here on the road to Hana for something to snack on. We had the tacos, banana bread and some cookies.. we were blown away by the tacos and went on our way to Hana. We literally turned around once we got there to do the long windy drive AGAIN just to come back for more tacos. The meat wasn't fatty and was unbelievably juicy and tender. Hands down the BEST spot on the road to Hana. We stopped here not expecting much. I wanted to try some pork so ordered the Kalua pork melt. It's a grilled cheese with kalua pork. It was bomb. The pork was so juicy. And we also casually ordered malasadas also not thinking much about it. It's 3 per order for $6. These were the best malasadas we had on the island! Fried them up in the truck so they were hot and not stale and had the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar. Soft & chewy & just perfection. So much better than every other place hawking crappy food along the road to Hana, this might be the single best bite of food I ate on Maui (with the possible exception of some of the noodle dishes at Migrant). The pork was salty, meaty, and intensely smoky -- good with tapatio, good with BBQ sauce, good if you just scarf it down naked. $6 for two, but they're small -- I wish I had ordered more. These Tacos are bomb dot com and heard that the coconuts we're sweet too. The sandwiches are also bomb dot com. I guess coconuts sweetness is seasonal. If you tip the guy well you can get your coconut hand husked here and then break out the coconut drink, put it in your fridge for four hours and then eat the coconut meat. This is one of the first fruit stands on the Hana highway + Uncle Harry is Vietnam vet and one of the people that made a stand for preserving a cultural island. read more

Yay! This was a nice little stop on our Hana Highway trip. I got a coconut and pineapple smoothie which was really delicious - super fruity, fresh, and sweet. A few members of my party got the last two baby loaves of banana bread and we all got to taste but I wasn't too impressed. It tasted like generic banana bread but was a bit dry (maybe it was slightly old). A few people got ice cream (banana macadamia nut, I think). I sneaked a taste and found that it was really creamy and rich and really good. The lady running the stand was really nice and friendly and helpful, especially when one of the members of our party found out he'd stepped in poop. She gave him some dish detergent and directed him to the hose so he could rinse off. There was a picnic table under an awning and some interesting decor (deer head, animal skulls, and two live turtles in a small tank). There was also a weird looking duck walking around. We got to meet Princess, the owner's dog, who was friendly, but had flies swirling around her. read more

Though, I do understand that many of these local fruit & bread stands depend on tourists like myself for their income, so I don't want to complain too much. After I placed my order, I noticed Harry's collection of belts & trophies from him & his son's days in mma/wrestling. As a boxing fan, anyone with that type of combat sports background immediately gains my respect. In celebration of my honeymoon, Uncle Harry broke out his ukulele & performed his rendition of Elvis's "cant help falling in love" as my wife & I ate. This was dope & my wife loved it. When my husband and I were visiting Maui we stopped by Uncle Harry's, originally for a smoothie, but ended up trying their burgers, smoothies, malasadas, and banana bread! Everything was so delicious and fresh we wished we were staying on that side of the island to try more of their great food! The ladies behind the counter were so knowledgeable and kind, they gave us tips on how to best use our time and what sites to visit. I guess that I forgot to review Uncle Harry's. Must be old lady brain. So this is a late post. We were driving the Hana Hwy part of the way and stopped here on a whim to get a couple of smoothies. The pig tacos looked good, so we ordered 2 to snack on as well. I had not read any reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. The stand was being manned by Uncle Harry's grandson and his two adorable little girls. All three were so friendly. And those little girls really take their job seriously! Great quality to instill on kids. It was a bit slow and we had the opportunity to chat for a bit and learned a lot about Uncle Harry. Plus, my husband is a firefighter so he had someone to talk "shop" with. The tacos were delicious and the smoothies were refreshing. Welcoming fruit stand with simple, fresh offerings served with Aloha. Plus their prices are fair. What more can you ask for? Whenever we're on Maui, we drive at least part of the way to Hana. great little place in the middle of the jungle. stopped here on my way through Hana. Picked up a smoothie and some pineapple icecream...ohhh it was sooo good too. Stopped at Uncle Harry's on my way to Hana. The place smelled like fresh banana bread baking, and I kind of regret I didn't get it. I would actually give this place 3.5 stars if that was possible on Yelp. Even though I didn't get the banana bread, I actually tried the Kalua Pig tacos which were quite good. They were shredded pork with cabbage slaw on a warm flour tortilla, covered with some BBQ sauce. I don't know if that's a regular menu thing or seasonal but it was worth the stop on my way to Hana Bay. I would note that this place is a little slow because it is a Mom and Pop stand. So, if there is a line, there will be a wait. But it's worth it, 6 dollars for two tacos, you really can't beat it. read more

We came upon this place by complete accident. It's not listed as a highlight on the road to Hana, but it should be. Next time we go back, we will plan to stay a while.
