I'm dumbfounded on how the service could be so bad. I walked in during happy hour and sat at the bar where I received a menu and was asked if I'd ever been there before (no, first timer). The bar and restaurant were barely a third full. I'm a business traveler and like to work while I eat, so I ordered a fresh fruit margarita, and small order of quest and started to work on my laptop. I looked at the menu and thought the bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp looked like a winner, and planned to order it. The bartender brought my drink over, and it was amazingly good, and thought I have 30 minutes more to order another. The queso came and was also great, especially with the fresh chips and salsa. And that was the last time I heard from any servers. I sat for over 40 minutes with an empty glass and an empty basket of chips. No one asked if I wanted anything else. The bartender seemed intent on laughing with a couple at the bar that I'm assuming we're either friends or regulars, but I never got so much as a word from him in almost an hour's time. I looked up and noticed the check had been placed in a glass in front of me. That speaks volumes, so I paid my bill and finished my dinner at another restaurant. I did bring this to the attention of the manager, who, to his credit, gave me his card and told me to ask for him next time I'm in. If that experience is any better, the. Stopped here on a Sunday for lunch. We were seated right away. The restaurant appears clean and it's a nice atmosphere. Music is a little loud but it is what it is. Our server was friendly and everything came out quickly. The salsa is interesting, not bad but it is quite different. We ordered some queso and it was pretty good. This place has gone downhill fast. We love frequenting this place because of the chips and salsa and that they have a great patio for dogs. We went to the annual Bark Bash at One Loudoun this year and got a table with our dogs there. Some friends of ours who joined us told us they never go there any more because the service the last several times over the past year has been totally horrendous. Well, we experienced this first hand this time and we will not be back to dine in. The waitress was completely untrained and disorganized. They took my one friend's order to the wrong table and my order took 45 min! I think the waitress forgot about it. I'm certain she did bc she didn't remember my order to ring up my bill at the end. The food for my other friends never came and they canceled it...including a bottled beer. How long does that take?! When I asked got the check because we had such bad service, it took 40 min with the waitress asking me twice what u had ordered (while writing it down again?!) and then proceeded to give me the wrong bill. We could have walked out without paying because no one knew what they were doing ans we were tired of waiting. We tried to be as patient and understanding as possible, esp since there was an event at One Loudoun that day...though not sure why they wouldn't be prepared for that. Instead, I asked to talk to the manager. I explained we wanted to leave and all the issues. It took 10 min before the manager came out, BTW. He then went to the cash register. Tried to ring something up. There were 4 other waiters standing around. Then he ran off without explanation. He came back with a roll of paper for the receipt printer. Ummmm? He said that was the issue. I don't think so....10 min later, still no progress. I finally walked up and said that we wanted to leave and at this point, I think comping our meals so we could do so would be the right thing to do...not bc I wa Ted a free meal so much as I wanted to leave and they were nowhere near figuring anything out. The manager actually said to me that was what he was doing but he had to figure out what I ordered so he could comp me. Are you kidding me? I gave the waitress my order 3-4 times by then. WTF? Worst manager EVER. I told him since he was comping the meal I was leaving. He said I was free to go. Thanks. Worst experience EVER. Not just a one-off. If you have a good experience, tip your server very well. You just met a unicorn there! There are so many other great choices of restaurants in the area. AVOID UNCLE JULIO'S for a sit-down meal! Came here last night for a celebratory dinner because we enjoy the food but it was such a huge disappointment. Our server lacked a sense of urgency. She was slow, uninterested, and distracted. When asked for a refill of chips and salsa, she only brought the chips. She forgot our silverware so when our food FINALLY arrived after what seemed like hours, we couldn't eat it. We had to find another server for silverware (and water refills) because she was nowhere to be found. When we FINALLY received our food, it was awful! The rice was undercooked - hard and crunchy. There were large bay leaves in the beans that both my sons bit into. The veggie fajitas that I ordered consisted of four strips of zucchini, a tablespoon of mushrooms, and mostly onions. No peppers or yellow squash. The whole entree barely filled half the dish. But it did include the aforementioned undercooked, tasteless rice! My son ordered the carnitas tacos and they were cold when he bit into them. My other son ordered the barbacoa fajitas and his was also a microscopic amount. Honesty, the only good part of our meal last night was the chips and salsa and the tortillas. Thank goodness we are going to Mexico next week where we can indulge in generous amounts of delicious, authentic Mexican food. read more

Service was a bit slow but we were a fairly large party on a busy, busy weekend. Beware the tableside guac is no longer prepared at the table, so you cannot customize it to your liking (or at least my party did not get that experience). My friend was quite disappointed about that after hyping us up about it. My daughter & I split the chicken & steak fajitas for two. It was very good and the guac that was included was just fine (compared to the tableside version mentioned above). We all took home leftovers and I don't know about the others in my party, but I turned the leftovers into a few different quick meals. I've enjoyed other Uncle Julios locations but was not happy with this one. We just went here for date night and were very unimpressed with the Tuesday Taco platter. The round tortilla shells were served in covered plates but were cold upon arrival. Then we noticed that everything on the platter was cold, including the beef and chicken. With the pinkish hue of the chicken, my date and I started wondering if they were even cooked all the way through. Long story short, we were starving so we ate what we could. A manager happened to ask us about the meal. He confirmed that the meats should be served hot. He was very apologetic, which was a nice gesture I suppose. Not enough to comp us a little bit, nor did we ask, but he at least apologized. The swirl sangria cocktails we had did not seem to have alcohol in them. We normally love to eat here. The food and service are always amazing. However this is the second time we've ordered a $9 side of guacamole to go and the container is barely half full. It was already browning by the time we got home. So disappointed. If it was 3 or 4 bucks, sure...but cmon. They should either train the staff to fill the container or cut the price. read more

Only 3 shrimp in each of my tacos... they were cold (not expected) with jicama with an interesting sauce. Again to sweet for my taste. We, unfortunately, gave Uncle Julio's another try last weekend. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 children. As expected, we got absolutely terrible service! Our server was Lizbeth and we sat outside. She was unfriendly from the start, didn't greet us at all, never smiled or acted pleasant in any way. When we requested something, she just turned and walked away, without acknowledging it. We asked for more water, she never brought it and we had to ask another server, going by, for it and for more salsa and chips. And the icing on the cake? After we gave her our payment, she just walked away. As we hadn't given her a tip yet, I asked her about it and she had the gall to tell us that she already got 20%!!!! SHE GAVE HERSELF A 20% TIP!!!! How dare she after that kind of service? I have never seen a server do that. We had planned to give her 10%. The 1 star I gave was for the food, which was not bad. However we will NEVER go to this Uncle Julio's again and are telling everyone of our horrible experience. read more

Just ate here with a bunch of friends. The waitress was great. The kitchen had major problems. First- my friend had an hair embedded in her enchilada. She then asked for a steak taco and the meat was raw. She wasn't comped her meal though she ate nothing and was charged for her coke and queso with a lukewarm apology from the manager who after the second time finally comped the bill. I am not sure I will be back at this location. We went online and made a reservation and when it was finally time we were told that although we reserved a spot it's not guaranteed that our table will be ready because it's busy. I was upset because this is something that should be mentioned when you make a reservation on the app especially when you are dinning with starved little ones. When we finally got seated we had to wait an extra hour for our food to arrive. We had different staff come up to us telling us our food is coming. When our food finally arrived it was cold. Very very disappointing. The Mexican rice was burned and my kids didn't enjoy. The steak fajita had a good flavor but it was really fatty and had a lot of rough connected tissue like It wasn't trimmed well. My husbands steak tacos were also dry and cold. I am from California. We love our Mexican food there!! My daughter, who was a native Californian, just recently moved to the area. We tried a few other places that claimed to be Mexican or Tex-Mex, by the way she just moved here from Texas. So I think she and I are pretty well versed in authentic flavors!! Also, the size of this bag of (half filled) chips is absolutely absurd, I didn't even know they had sizes this small. Last week my friend and I wanted to meet for lunch at One Loudoun. We hadn't decided where to eat, and took our time walking around in the beautiful weather before deciding on a place that's name begins with Bar. After spending 30 minutes trying to get any service at all we left. Feeling a bit defeated we walked into Uncle Julios. What a difference! I don't know if it was shock after being treated so badly but everyone was so friendly. We sat at a table in the bar and had a lovely lunch. My friend has some dietary issues and they were well taken care of. I had the most delicious spicy margarita! The food was good and the people were nice. We are long time UJ lovers... going back maybe 20 years. The One Loudoun location is alright. We continue coming here, because we literally live right down the road. I wish I could love it like I love Reston :-( it's crazy how the same company, and have so many differences. Last two times we've gone, the salsa was super runny and bright red. The waiter even commented on it when he brought it, saying "sorry. Different tomatoes" ...okay.. I don't know... I wish this was addressed to be just as great as Reston... when time permits, we do make the drive to go to Reston... it's just that much better over there. read more

The service was an abomination and the prices are laughably bad considering the food is lower quality than Taco Bell. It didn't help that I got sunburned while sitting inside as the sun blazed down on us. Neither the server nor the manager cared at all when we complained that their sunshades didn't work. So yeah, I was wearing sunglasses inside while it must have been 90+ degrees at our table. So the 15-minute wait for drinks after ordering a soda was just great. If you're craving for good Mexican food, then avoid this place. This one is just one fancy "Mexican" restaurant, which serves pretty bland food. We went there for dinner, they give chips and salsa (which doesn't taste like salsa) for free for the table. We ordered Camarones Diabla (jumbo shrimp) and Salmon Jarden. Camarones Diabla did not have the taste of the Diabla sauce at all, just fancy decoration of medium sized shrimps (definitely not jumbo). Salmon Jarden was a joke, definetly not mexican taste at all. The salmon was grilled so dry that it lost its original flavor too, Meh.. And to top it the rice and beans (which is one of signature Mexican dishes, and simple to cook) were pathetic. Today was my first visit to Uncle Julio's. As a vegetarian I was surprised to see only one option, the vegetable fajita. After talking to the waitress, I switched to a plate she recommended, cheese enchiladas. This plate was basically a flour tortilla filled with cheese and sat on a plate of more cheese, which was completely unappealing. After eating half of it I gave up. This was my hot spot for good Mexican food. But on two separate occasions, the quality of food sank from when the restaurant originally opened. I guess with the mass number of people coming to the restaurant, the food is mass produced in advance and then microwaved before serving. The amount of cheese and busted burritos due to the nuking makes the meal a total mess. Speaking of mess, the tables and area around the tables is messy and sticky. Please save this restaurant from going under but recognize that management needs to step up their game and get real chefs back in the kitchen. read more

I'm not really sure why this place is so busy (we waited 45 minutes for dinner around 6PM on a Friday night. The Fairfax Corner location is the best, and Reston is decent too. But this location - the food is really subpar and not as good as the other locations. We had tableside guac, and the server didn't bother asking us how spicy we wanted it. When she finished, I asked her if she added any spice - she said no. I asked her to add spice in because we like it spicy. She looked extremely annoyed and roughly took the mortar bowl back to add the spice. That should be a normal question for tableside guac? I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, and the steak was one color, no grill marks/taste, and looked like fake meat. It looked rubbery and was very chewy. One of our friends is on a keto diet, and asked for a small vegetable-type side instead of beans/rice. He got a full blown side salad - which we thought was extremely generous. We received the bill at the end, and they had charged us $6 for the salad. But they took back the rice/beans...so take back part of the dish and then charge us for an addition? They didn't bother telling us it was an additional charge either. Our server told us he would "check with the kitchen on what they could do". All in all, the food here sucked. read more
