I was in the area and really wanted GST (Gas Station Thai = Thai Pan in Leesburg), but couldn't find a place to park. Then while driving around that gas station looking for a spot to park, I smelled some amazing Pollo a La Brassa and saw La Chocita behind the gas station. That smelled drew me in! The folks inside were friendly and sat me promptly. I ordered a quarter chicken and she immediately told me she didn't have any chicken today (I think she meant not ready yet). I said I smelled it and that's why I came in, so she said to wait and went in the back. She came back and said she had chicken, so I assumed the fresh, amazing smelling chicken I came in for that was being cooked was ready. Well, what I got was yesterday's chicken which seemed to be re-heated. It was dry and flavorless... very boring. No spices to be seen or tasted - So very disappointing! The beans that came with it were decent... not a lot of flavor, but great texture and still good. The salad was fresh, their "dressing" was the typical mayo-based sauce and it was ok. I was craving some Peruvian chicken and stumbled on this place. My friend recommended it and since I was in Leesburg, I thought I'd give it a try. The parking lot needs some work, it's not paved. Apparently this place has been in business for over 20 years, they could improve in this area. You start with complimentary chips and salsa. This wasn't bad. I started off with horchata, very good. I had half a chicken all dark meat with yucca and rice. The chicken was pretty good. Flavorful, juicy, tender. The yucca was the perfect texture, crispy exterior, soft interior. The rice was okay. The sauce both white and green could use some work. I'll say, their sauce doesn't come close to super chickens sauce. We dined in. The place was clean. The server was nice. They checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. They have a extensive menu. I'll definitely come back to try out the other items. read more

I can't believe I've lived here this long and never eaten at this Mexican restaurant. It was so good. I went back twice and one week. The first thing I had was the char grilled steak burrito and it was fantastic. It was stuffed with juicy steak. The second time I went, I had the shrimp enchiladas which were decent but I thought for almost $18 you should get three of them, not two. My girlfriend ordered the nachos and they were very good. Tried the grilled zucchini appetizer and it was delicious and worth the price as it could easily feed four people. We finished up with the Tres leches cake for dessert and it was fabulous. The service was great and they have Tapatio hot sauce. One of the other pluses here is there's plenty of parking in the back which can sometimes be a problem eating in downtown Leesburg . We will definitely be eating here more often. read more

It's a local favorite in downtown Leesburg for Latin American eats. I've gotten takeout here a few times (due to COVID) for taco Tuesday and their papusas Wednesday special. Food here is absolutely wonderful from the tacos (carne, lengua, carnitas, and veggie), yucca con chicharron, and the Buffalo wings. The papusas are probably my favorite in Leesburg with the soft texture and cheesy pull. Combine it with the cabbage garnish and red sauce for the perfect bite. When I'm back in Leesburg, this is in my rotation. The restaurant scene in old town Leesburg is stepping up and this location is one of the reasons why. Respect! read more

I've been looking for a real Mexican place since I moved from California. I tried some of the Papusas. I had the cheese and a bean burrito - I'm a vegetarian. They were good but a bit plain in taste. I am not really familiar with Papusas so I can't gauge. Ingredient quality was good. The slaw was different and nice to contrast. I think next time I'll try to order from the vegetarian menu to see if those options are a bit more flavorful. Service was fast and courteous. Masks in effect. Prices are different than the website, more expensive. I'm a long time Californian that recently moved to NOVA. I used to go to hole in the wall Mexican restaurants where I was the only non-Mexican and the food was awesome and I miss it so. They'd make chips fresh and have a hopper where you could shovel it in. I'd get a Horchata and pile on the hot sauces... I'll keep looking but this is OK. Gravel and dark parking lot which already gives a bad vibe (especially at night), but stepped inside and I was greeted with a smile and friendliness. 1st bowl of chips and salsa are complementary. Ordered crispy taco ground beef platter. While waiting after our order was placed, I could hear the kitchen staff preparing our dishes. Tacos and refried beans were delicious! Screwing up takeout orders is a cardinal sin in my book. Ordered fajitas and the didn't include the avocado. Aside from that glaring error my food itself was bland and uninspiring. The rice was plain and the pico was close to non existent. The beef for my fajitas didn't have much flavor, but at least the vegetables were cooked well. For the price point it was a solid miss, and that is not even factoring in the missing avocado. My lady had a better experience, she found burrito pretty good (beef has good flavor and texture) and fortunately for her everything was correct. read more

I give this place 3.5 stars, we ordered for delivery, they said 20 mins but it took over an hour. The portion sizes are huge and the taste is so so. I ordered the Bolivian dish, the fried steak was huge, the steak had that oil look to it since it was fried, rice was kinda hard and bland. Fried eggs were alright, salad was blah. We also ordered cheese and bean pupusa, by the time it got to us it was cold and dried. The slaw that came with it was blah too. My girlfriend got the enchilada with a taco, enchilada was decent and taco was alright too. Can't really mess up a taco. We also ordered rotisserie chicken. Chicken tasted great. The fries that came with it was all soggy, the green sauce was thick and not spicy. Over all I liked how they make all sort of Latino dishes. Love this place! My family and I attend very often. Usually on Sundays after church. Great family owned gem. Service is always great and food comes out pretty fast and delicious! My daughter always gets cheese pupusas. I really enjoy the breakfast platter "el ranchero" it has fried chicharrón and comes with tortillas on the side. It can get very busy and parking is tight but we've never had any issues finding a spot. I also love how they always have beautiful worship music playing. Can't wait to go back! Don't let my 'A-OK' review turn you away from visiting or returning to La Chocita Grill. I only just visited there for my first time, and I believe I will return. While I wanted to award La Chocita with 4 stars, the downward spiral in service we experienced over the course of our dine-in visit and the lackluster quality of my husband's sandwich knocked it down to 3 for me. However, my experience and contentedness with my entree and appetizer, plus my excitement in "discovering" this Latin American place in an old house, left me looking forward to our next visit. As mentioned, La Chocita is situated in an old house in historic Leesburg, not far from the famed Doner Kebab and Fireworks Pizza area. You''ll find a wide range of clientele inside, and no more than a dozen tables. I loved the sarape-style blankets on the tables covered with protective clear plastic tablecloths. We were seated and brought water immediately, while we pored over the menu which included a dish from what seems like every Central and South American country. What I really enjoyed was the fact that the menu calls out where each dish comes from, so choose your own dining adventure. We each started with a pupusa, beans no cheese for the hubby and jalapenos and cheese for me. The pupusas were easily our favorite part of the meal. They were plenty dense with filling while tasting fresh, with a great ratio of corn meal to filling. Slaw and salsa were good accompaniments, too. I also ordered a Passion Fruit juice, why not? It was tasty! For entrees, I chose a 1/2 rotisserie chicken, served with spicy veggie and pepper accompaniments, including caramelized onions, plus really tasty beans and rice. It's a good thing I had a hungry man with whom to share this bounty (and it only cost like $15), as for some reason, his simple Charcoal Chicken Sandwich and side of Fried Yucca almost never appeared, for some reason. While my entree was amazing, the sheer lack of communication as to why the sandwich and yucca were taking so long, coupled with the lack of apology or anything from the server or manager once they finally arrived, did nothing to help with the the fact that the sandwich was a dry, cold pita, with just a little chicken, tomato and lettuce on top. Yeah, it was only $7, but still...once the yucca finally arrived, it sat mostly untouched due to how full we already were. While I think we'll return, service and food timeliness had better improve next time, or I don't know if La Chocita will be worth the trip out to Leesburg. read more

Peruvian chicken places are so common in northern Virginia that I didn't have huge expectations for this one. I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with rice and slaw and had a surprisingly good experience. While another member of my group thought the chicken was too dry, I interpreted it as a crispness that I wasn't expecting. It was flavorful and the portion was huge. The rice and slaw sides weren't remarkable but good. Our table also ordered a side of yucca and chicharon which was very good. All very crispy and hot. Our waitress seemed to be working every table inside so our service was a little sparse, but it added to the charm of this being a small family business. I didn't love this place. The chicken used is the rotisserie chicken so it's very juicy but also contains dark meat. I also don't like any fat or skin which was put in my quesadilla. They charge extra for additional chips or salsa. The ambiance isn't great, the decor is lackluster. I wouldn't go back to eat. read more

I have tried most Mexican restaurants in the DMV, both chain and family-owned. I prefer La Chocita Grill over the others, by far.
