This little gem offered something new to me on a Friday afternoon. Yes, we like their lunch buffet for $12.99 and on the weekends(Fri, Sat, Sun) they add custom street tacos. They are made with either corn or flour tortillas. The server heats them up and heats up your choice of protein. They offered chorizo, carnitas, chicken and steak. Of course I indulged in 4 different tacos. We can add our own toppings of onion and cilantro. There's a variety of salsas and wow, the habanero is HOT! My coworker picked up food on his way in tonight. He got the steak fajitas and was pleasantly surprised. I got the enchiladas de la casa which were not edible. Something tasted very off with enchiladas so I only ate the rice and some of the beans. Would definitely not recommend the enchiladas. Coworkers even tried the meal and agreed something tasted off. Went to lunch here with my kid... she got the chicken quesadilla and I got 2 cheese enchiladas and 2 tacos. The food was tasty but they put the tacos on top of the hot enchiladas and got soggy. I was in the mood for mexican food and since this was right off of the main street ID decided to stop in. While it wasnt packed, it wasnt empty either so it took a few mins to get a seat. They brought out the chips and salsa and these were the nice big chips that had salt on them so i was happy about that. I ordered the carne asada tacos that came with rice and beans. My wife, daughter and I went for dinner on 12/31/2022. My wife and daughter both had tacos. My wife had Carne Esada and daughter had steak tacos. Both well seasoned and delicious. I had enchiladas, I shredded beef, 1 pulled pork, I chicken and I cheese. All very tasty. The red sauce is tasty. The rice delicious, needed some salt. The refried bean, creamy but needed some seasoning. Overall, very tasty. If I could give 3 1/2 stars I would, not sure I should give 4. I do enjoy this restaurant, the food is very consistent. Been a customer for a few years now and Del Rio had become our "let's grab some Mexican" place to eat. However, and maybe it's me, but it seems like their prices have gone up exponentially recently. Yes, I get it, inflation has hit everyone. But $10 for queso? a $12 virgin daquiri? $19 for arroz con pollo? That's fairly pricey for any Mexican place let alone "a local". We were in the area helping an old friend and I remember going to this restaurant 20 years or so ago. I remembered the donkey in the front. Unfortunately, it's not as good as I remember or my taste has become a little more refined. My food was cold and tasteless. Not really cheap, not a great ambiance, either. Sort of like a cafeteria feel. I had the steak fajita salad and DH had the chicken chimichanga. They don't serve Coke, didn't know that until we saw the Pepsi line item. As a Mexican, I do not recommend. There are many better restaurants in Northern VA to bother going to this, unless you are in walking distance or something. read more

Six of us dined at Del Rio last night. As it was a gorgeous evening, we decided to eat outside. First Problem: There was only one waiter (who was great, but he needed help.) By the time he was able to serve all of us our dinner, (three trips) my food was cold. At a minimum, someone should have helped him deliver the food to the table. Second Problem: While trying to enjoy our dinner outside, a busboy had to have dragged at least six smelly loud garbage cans to the dumpster and back, along the two sides of the restaurant where we were sitting. Very unappetizing to say the very least. As we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, I didn't say anything to the waiter or go back inside to speak to the manager. It will be a long while before I try Del Rio again. read more

On a random night, with nothing else to do, I sat on my couch with a friend of mine trying to determine what to eat for dinner. So we jetisoned off to Leesburg to eat what he described as "the second best chimichanga he's ever eaten". *Note to readers, he would later acknowledge that he best chimichanga he'd ever eaten is at a restaurant that has closed for business, so really Del Rio is the best active chimichanga available.* In any case, we made our way to Del Rio and as advised, I ordered a chimichanga. I got the beef while my friend ordered the chicken. I can say without hesitation that it was indeed the best chimichanga I've ever eaten in my life. The tortilla was nice and crispy while inside, it was packed with flavorful ground beef. On top, the chimichanga was smothered in melted cheese and I was given more than a plate's serving of lettuce, sour cream, salsa, etc. to eat with my chimichanga. The mexican rice that accompanied the chimichanga was also delicious. The only thing that didn't blow my mind was the refried beans, and honestly I could care less because I was focused on the amazing chimichanga. My family has been eating at Del Rio for probably over a decade, now. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and it's fast for a restaurant that is not fast food. This is one of the restaurants on my short list where I will wait for a seat. It's typically a short wait. I recommend getting there before 6:00 pm on weekends (or after 8:00 pm). There will be a wait during the peak times. If the weather is nice, ask to eat outside. Every meal starts with free salsa and chips. The flavor in the salsa does vary in both taste and spiciness, but that tends to be just different degrees of very good. At least, that leads me to believe it's freshly made. One "secret" is that you can get chips and salsa to go for $4. It's a pint of salsa with enough chips to go with it. That's cheaper than I can buy (poor quality) chips and salsa at the grocery. We also get the Chile Con Queso quite often, we really like it. Over the years, we've had probably just about every item on the menu though our favorites are the enchiladas de la casa (2 enchiladas with rice and beans), fajita pizza, machaca pizza, el super burrito, the #2 special (Rosarita - 2 cheese enchiladas and 2 beef tacos with rice and beans), and every variation of the fajitas (but we often share the family trio - steak, chicken and shrimp). If you get the pizzas, burritos or one of the specials, be really hungry, split it with someone else or plan to take some home. My "usual" is the enchiladas de la casa (one chicken and one cheese). If I have to ding Del Rio for anything, it would be the beer list, which is very small. The margaritas are good, but not great and have gotten a bit pricey. Generally though, we get out of there for about $35-50 for three people depending on if we get drinks or not. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I understand things are tough on restaurants these days during COVID so we are doing our best to patronize those that are worthy of the cost. We placed an order through DoorDash and it delivered only for the order to be incorrect: we asked for chips and salsa and instead received loaded nachos. We asked for no cilantro, cheese, or avocado on our tacos. The tacos were completely loaded. This would not be such a big deal were it not for people in the house with allergies. When we called to request a correction, the manager, Giovanni, informed me that the order "had to be correct". He read back the order to me and I said yes but that's not what I am looking at right now. He then told me the DoorDash delivery person must've mixed up the order. I informed him the bag was brought to us tied and sealed as he indicated he has done when he checked the orders. He then tried to accuse the delivery driver of opening the bag, switching the orders, and tying the bag back up. He told me to "take it up with DoorDash. I can't do anything for you." He was rude, didn't want to admit he screwed up the orders and didn't pay attention to details, and then lied by blaming it on the delivery driver. For all the restaurants who are working their butts off to make ends meet, take care of their employees and their customers... and these guys can apparently afford to be assholes to their customers. We won't eat there or from there ever again. PS) I really wish I had checked their health rating scores on Yelp before I ordered from there (yuk!!! $). 0 stars, do not recommend. read more

I really really like this place. For their prices, their food is really good! I am literally in love with their chicken nachos. The chicken is so flavorful. I also really like their salsa, and let's be honest, the salsa is kind of the star of the show at a Mexican restaurant. If the salsa is bad, it's not a good sign! But Del Rio has delicious salsa and chips. I usually order the chicken toquitos for my dinner. They are an appetizer, but add beans and rice like I do and you've got a meal! The only reason I took a star off was because I wasn't really happy with the queso. It had the consistency of melted Velveeta. I was starving, so I scarfed the queso, chips, and salsa anyway. They didn't seem very busy and could probably spread out the seating more just fine. If you want Mexican food, this or any of the surrounding Mexican places in Leesburg are OK. We've been going to Del Rio at least once a week since 1999...twice or more when I was pregnant with each child. :). It is THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD in Leesburg. The people are friendly. Margaritas are great (I like the Cadillac the best). Our favorite dishes are the Del Rio burrito (fajita steak and chicken), the shrimp enchiladas, special #6, quesadillas, fajitas, and the salsa is delicious!! read more
