I went with my wife this past week, and we were both impressed. The One Loudoun Uncle Julio's definitely lives up to the name. The bar area is larger than the Reston or FFX Corner, and seems more upscale as well. The food was delicious and surpassed expectations, considering they had only been open for a week. I got the Jalisco, fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and beef, all of which were amazing. I was surprised to find tamales on the menu and will be returning to give them a taste. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. We will be back many, many times. read more

There is nothing bad about this place. I will say, their margaritas are outstanding (@ $9-11 a pop). And I do love One Loudoun where it's located, and sitting outside on the patio. However, I think the prices are too high for the food they serve - value is simply not there. The food is not bad, nothing to complain about, but nothing special. I would expect for $10-12 apps and $20-$40 fajitas to be knocked out at the park. It just doesn't do that. I would choose Los Toltecos any day over Uncle Julio's. Authentic, better value. I have been a fan of Uncle Julio's for a long time. Never have a bad thing to say. Always great. But I never had the urge to write a review until my experience this evening. I came from having a terrible experience at a restaurant across the street and knew I wouldn't be disappointed coming here. But what I didn't know, was how much better my night would become. I sat at the bar and Justin was our bartender. Off the bat extremely welcoming and friendly. For me a bartender is supposed to be the host of the party at all times. Making it welcome to couples, solo guests, and groups. One who fails at making someone feel welcome has failed at their sole duty of being a bartender. Justin was EXCEPTIONAL!!! It was a Sunday evening and the bar wasn't too busy so he was able to hang around and chat for a good amount of time. After a while I told him of my horrible service experience previously and he was mortified. Immediately paid for my queso as a kind gesture. And if you know my love of queso then you know that this went a long way with me. He had great recommendations and was on top of things during our entire visit. Our food and drinks came out wonderfully delicious (per usual). If one person is able to turn your night around with just providing above and beyond service then They deserve to know. Ok so the food is great the server was great but my son was paying and he is in the United States Navy I am so proud of him. He was deployed last year and because of ISIS he had to stay much longer than we thought so when paying he asked if they had a military discount he gave his ID then the manager said no discount unless you are in uniform!! Funny cause if he was in uniform he would be discharged cause he was on civilian time !!! He had never run across this before and he was like it's ok mom but I'm mad !! It says something negative about Ashburn that people will actually wait an hour for a table at this mediocre chain restaurant with pretentious prices. The food is not bad, and certainly comes in the gargantuan quantities that consumers today demand from chain restaurants. But at $20-$25 per entree, the food ought to be really good. There are many touches lacking here: it is VERY loud; they bring you drinks without napkins; we had to ask for small plates to go with the guacomole; our table was wobbly and we had to ask someone on the staff to stabilize it; and the overall design is just bizarre, in that the entrance is completely opposite of the primary parking area! Maybe they should have a shuttle service to the front door! Another annoyance is that, when waiting for a table, they buzz you that your table is ready, then keep you waiting another five minutes before seating you (this wasn't just us--it seemed to be for everyone). I was so excited when Uncle Julios opened up. I no longer have to go to Reston. But, unfortunately, I still have to go to Reston for good food, ambience and good service. After three disappointing trips, I am afraid to try a fourth one. The last visit I ordered enchilada. I couldn't believe the platter when I got it. No greens at all and did not look appetizing. After a long, hard day, I want a place to relax and enjoy a nice dinner. This was not the case. Service was not great either. Took a long time to get seated. Food is good. I've been here a few times, had the enchiladas with fajita steak, tableside guac, queso and soup. All food was good. Unfortunately the atmosphere is too loud, unless you sit outside. Which during the winter or bad weather isn't possible. Sitting inside is too crowded and loud I could not hear the person next to me. read more

So glad there's now a Julio's close by! The restaurant is beautiful! It was absolutely packed, with waits over an hour, but that didn't seem to affect the service at all. We got the table side guacamole to star - so awesome, and there was plenty to go around, even though there were seven of us. went to uncle julios two weeks ago with two other couples. we waited about an hour. drink prices are extremely high. once seated and orders were placed, we received an app (shrimp wrapped in bacon) that was partially cooked, and the shrimp tacos were cold. after sending the tacos back, they came back again as cold. my meal was wrong too. the reston location is sooo much better. maybe they'll work the kinks out, but I'd still rather go to reston read more

The manager Diego is rude and unprofessional. We arrived at 6pm to wait in line twenty mins just to put our name on the wait list for a party of 6. We were quoted a two hour wait. When going back to the hostess stand (after an hour and a half of waiting) to get an estimate on how much longer the hostess stated you were quoted a two hour and fifteen minute wait and I explained we were quoted a two hour wait. Diego rudely turned around and stated well even if you were quoted a two hour wait you still have another forty mins. I then stated I understand you are busy and new but I'm just looking about how much longer on the wait. The nice hostess explained to me she would check the floor to see about how much longer. She was actually helpful unlike the rude manager. She stated we will be the next 6 top seated. After waiting another thirty minutes we watched TWO 6 top tables be seated prior to us when they were in line behind us originally to give your name to the hostess. We went back to the hostess to explain what happened and they magically found us a table immediately and apologized to us. Unfortunately our experience here with the manager was very unprofessional. It doesn't matter if we had a three hour wait he needs to learn common courtesy and customer service. We understand this is a new location so they are busy but you don't need to be rude to paying customers who have waited two hours to eat at your restaurant. Good food and service. The plates are a good size portion, so if your're not that hungry, you might want to share. I ordered fish tacos and my husband ordered chicken & steak fijita; both were delicious. We also ordered margaritas and their signature drink, The Swirl. I'm a huge fan of the Uncle Julio's chain, but this one seriously needs to work out some kinks before I'll go back. Unlike other Uncle Julio's, there is NO call ahead seating at this location, so we had a two hour wait. After placing our name on the wait list, we were told they had just given out the last pager and to check back in 20 minutes. Fifteen minutes later (when I saw a stack of pagers on the hostess stand), I asked for one, but was reminded that I had been told not to ask for 20 minutes. Similarly, after 75 minutes of waiting for our table, I checked in to see where we were on the list. The manager's response was to remind me that, based on my arrival time, I still had 45 minutes left to wait. When we finally taken to a table, there were not enough chairs--or room--for our party and had to stand around the table for at least five minutes while they tried to figure out how to seat us. Once we were seated, the wait staff was fabulous and attentive. The food arrived very quickly and was good (although the beans and rice were not as good as at other locations...it was as though they had been sitting for two hours, waiting to make it to someone's plate). Our waitress, bartender, and the gentleman who took our drink order in the patio waiting area, were each excellent. That said, it certainly is not worth the two hour wait. read more

This place is horrible. Went for dinner, the lighting is so low we could not read the menu (not a deal breaker), the signature drinks were very watered down, and had too much mixer and I'm not 100% sure on this but I don't think there were any spirits in them at all. Our server was a nice guy and very attentive, but the food was just horrible. We started with a queso dip, which was in the $5.00 range, we got two tablespoons of Velveeta and peppers. I had the tuna tacos, to charge $20.00 for this meal is really a crime. One tablespoon of beans and two tablespoons of parboiled rice, three tacos with less then 8 oz of fish total. Now I will say this, I DID get almost an entire head of cabbage in the tacos. My wife's meal of just standard beef tacos was good, the meat was very dry, I don't know how you screw up ground beef, but Uncle Julio figured it out. She asked our server for some type of taco sauce/salsa to cut the dry meat, and he said "we have two great choices, Cholula, or Tabasco". I have had traditional Mexican food, Tex-Mex, and Baja, this place is so off base it's sad. Save your money and go somewhere else, this place is horrible. read more

Decent food and service. Any time I get a margarita from here it's almost all mix and no tequila, not worth it when they cost about $10 each. One of our favorite places to go. However, cleanliness is slipping...litterally. The floor is so greasy you slip and slide all the way to the table. Sitting at the table my feet arw sliding all over the place. I asked if it was just me, maybe my shoes. Everyone said no they were slipping too. Tonight's service is good so far. Three days ago came with some friends...service was horrible. As in never got our water, served queso with nothing including no flatware. So went to the bar and asked for chips, flatware and napkins. We ate the queso. Then our mixed drinks came out at the end. Never saw the waiter who took our original orders. Latest visit - service and cleanliness have tanked. The food is always good...but...no longer a go to place. Waiter was awful, we had to ask for our water three times, had to find someone else so we could give our orders, and had to find him again to pay our bill. We were there for almost two hours. Just left and am annoyed. Had a reservation and was seated in a timely manner at a booth with a tabletop that was slanted. We thought no big deal and hopefully no food will roll down to the floor. Ordered appetizer which was great and drinks. Ordered our food & my meal was made incorrectly but ok as they fixed it quickly. My husband and two sons fajitas came out with no plates & only 4 tortillas. We waited 10 minutes for the plates and 20 for additional tortillas which came out cold. We brought it up to the manager and while he did not apologize he did comp my salad. All this would have been fine but then the waiter returned to the table and went on a rant about how if it were him not the runners, the plates would have been brought out immediately. Came in and sat at the bar on a Friday night at around 8pm. I started off with a delicious mango margarita. My boyfriend and I ordered fajitas to share as our entree. It came out at a decent time but when I took my first bite, I pulled out a long black hair from my mouth. It was disgusting. I had to immediately spit it out and my boyfriend was afraid to even take about out of his. The bartender apologize and got the manager. The manager came by and talked to us but it left us angry. He never once apologized for what had happened. He simply said he would get us a new one and then he walked away. I was not expecting much but I was looking for an apology. My boyfriend was furious and immediately had the manager come back so we could speak to us. We confronted him saying we were upset by the fact he couldn't even apologize for what had happened. I love Uncle Julio's - have been a fan since the "Rio Grande" days. The One Loudoun location, however, is terrible. The waitstaff are terrible and the managers not much better. The food is definitely not the same flavor and quality as Reston. In the beginning I figured it was because they were new and needed to work the kinks out. Tonight the service dropped to a new low. Ok, I want to give 4 stars but let me explain..... I went with a group of friends to dinner here for a birthday celebration. It's a Saturday night, so it's super busy. Our drinks came out, followed by the food (although two of us waited a bit for ours to come out). All is well until the bills come. We all paid separately, which I know can get confusing but our bills looked good and we placed down our cards with our paper tickets. My ticket was about $38 and some change. When my card came back with my credit card slip, my bill went from $38 to $52, two other people had the bills switched, and the rest were also the wrong amounts. I asked the waitress what was going on and she seemed to have no clue. She walked away (assuming she'd get this figured out), and came back and says "I'm sorry, our machine just doesn't usually do paper bills" whatever that means. Again, I asked why my bill was roughly $14 more than what it should have been and she had NO answer for me. Long story short, it was NOT fixed and we were all stuck just dealing with it. I walked out paying more than I should have and am still puzzled. I probably should have demanded an explanation, but the waitress seemed uninterested in fixing any of it. A HUGE wtf!? read more

I can no longer stand by what i said on my last review. I am not giving this location a one star because of the food, food was great. The big issue was how poorly run the place was. We made reservations at 4:30...we were waiting for at least half an hour when there were several tables available. The staff consisted of almost all teenagers and snobby millennials who were more interested in talking to each other, and less pleased when they had actual work to do wether they were seating people, taking orders, etc. We ended up leaving the location before we could be seated after the tremendously long wait. It is worth the extra 15-20 minutes to go over to the Reston location (which i will write a review on after this). But i do not want to hear excuses about how the location is "new" and "just getting itself together". They have been opened for almost over a year now and should have gotten their (the staff) act together by now. Teenagers and young millennials do not have the maturity to work at an establishment like this. I just sent a letter to the head of the Unce Julio's chain. Never coming back again! read more

If you have infinite time to wait and don't mind subpar service, this is a place to go. There was a 45 minute wait for the dining room for two so we took our chances on a bar table. We snagged a table as some others were leaving. There were three dirty tables all together. I think we sat there almost ten minutes before someone came by we could grab to bust the table. After that finally happened, we probably say another 20 minutes with not a single wait staff around. Eventually, a server came by to let us know they were short staffed and apologized for the wait. It was a full hour before we actually had our food in front of us. Overall not great. This is the second time we have had this experience at this location and I think we probably won't be back. At one point we even overheard a server making a comment about how the other servers were stupid. Pretty unprofessional. read more

Terrible service. Our server Erick or however you spell it was probably the rudest person ever. We waited ten minutes for him to acknowledge us and when my girlfriend makes a comment he slams the tray on another table and than turns to us with the biggest attitude and goes "what can I get you" I mean at that time both my girlfriend and I were like what is wrong with this dude. He needs to check his attitude. Anyways so we ordered and than we also ordered drinks. He forgot to bring my lemonade and brought me coke instead...... Like dude it's not that hard to write down your orders. I am a server too so I know how all this works. But yea he brought me the wrong drink and every time we asked for water he gave us the biggest smirk and walked away. When we got our food he didn't even come back to check on us he just kept passing us and took more care of everyone other than us. When we asked for our checks he just dropped and we even wrote how bad he was. I will never feel bad about that. He only deserved 5% because that what he gave us. 5% service. I will never come back to uncle julios after this experience. I suggest the management does something about their staff because they are more and more terrible every time we come. I recently visited this location. I used to go to the original location in Dallas often. I love the fajitas and swirls. The new fresh from scratch station is a nice touch. I, also, like the roominess and decor. My food came out in a timely manner. Despite what a previous reviewer wrote, you can see this restaurant making the items fresh from scratch. I will be coming back to this location anytime I am in the Ashburn area. read more

The hostess said it was no problem and lead us around to every section where every waitress said they didn't was us seated in their section because it was too close to the time that they were supposed to get off. The restaurant is rather large but service was still very quick for us even on a busy Sunday evening. We had a Acapulco Seafood salad with ahi tuna, carnitas taco platter and a Juanita's platter (tamale, enchiladas). All were good with plenty to eat. We liked the salad best with the citrus vinaigrette sauce. They also provided plenty of chips, very thin, with nice salsa sauce. This new location is promising but the staff need serious training, We waited long stretches between service - 20 minutes to get drinks delivered for example. Server disappeared for long blocks of time. Orders taken/filled incorrectly. What's difficult about this order - shrimp tacos with just shrimp and lettuce? Didn't come out correct the 2nd time either! And when it comes time to pay? The wait staff can't split the bill correctly (50/50) and the split bills add up to more than the original bill! This isn't the first time we've been here but it may be the last. I made a reservation for two (my wife and I) for 5:45 and got there a little early and it was quite busy. I was told that my table wold be ready in 15 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes, I returned to the desk and was told "uh....we gave away your table 20 minutes ago..." They were apologetic and took us to a table right away. Unfortunately it was the worst table in the joint. Right in the middle of the floor where when anyone came in or out the main door, the wind blew right on us. I had to keep my coat on. My wife ordered a peach schnapps and something but when she got her drink, it was a margarita. The waiter tried to sell her that is was what she ordered but were weren't buying. He returned with the correct drink and tried to make the excuse the "sometimes the peach is a different color." Really? We ordered steak and chicken fajitas for two and it was at our table in less than 3 minutes. No time at all to enjoy our appetizers and what is worse, proving that the entree was not at all fresh. It didn't even have the typical sizzle when the dish arrived. The meal was lukewarm at best. The waiter knew I was not at all pleased and the manager came by. I didn't even lift my head up. At the end of this of the disappointing meal, the waiter made it a point to tell us that he took the drink off the bill....the incorrect drink! We were still charged for the correct one. WOW! Thanks buddy! At any rate, there are many other Mexican restaurants to go to in the area and we have our favorites. Uncle Julio's is NOT one of them any longer. read more

We had a great meal with drinks. The spice tuna tacos were fabulous. Service was good and the only reason I don't give it a fifth star was because of the seating arrangement around the large tables. We were seated along two service aisles. When others sat at their tables the guacamole cart could barely pass on two sides of our table. I sat at the end and the cart knocked my glass of water as it passed by us. I grabbed it before it tipped over and spilled. No apologies were offered. Food service continued to require me to lean away from them as the trays were near and over my head. I tried to move the table and it is a beast. It didn't budge. I was ready to leave before the meal was over. HINT, AVOID SITTING IN THE TABLE AREA. There were 4 adults, a toddler and two 6 year olds at our table. Room for us....No room around us on all 4 sides. The people at the table behind us continued to bump into our chairs. To give you a clear picture, I had to get up, step into the aisle and slide my chair in to allow the 6 year olds to pass behind me to use the restrooms. No, I am not a large man. read more

We got a free appetizer when we were seated because we had a 630 reservation and still weren't seated for almost 45 minutes. The service is slow not because our server wasn't great but because there's not enough servers or bus help! Our table was still dirty when we sat down and we waited a long time for drinks and food. We were disappointed in our first visit. It's obviously poorly managed. If they can get their act together this could be a great restaurant. read more

Took my mother here for lunch and it was delicious! Definitely recommend getting the tableside guac and fresh fruit margaritas:) and we didn't have to wait long for our food at all. The whole staff was super nice and polite. My server was Ashlyn and she was one of the most attentive and prompt servers I've ever had. Made it a very memorable experience--my mother and I are already planning to come next weekend! read more
