We like this place and were excited to go back. Now? Not so much. We waited 30 minutes for a table, okay fine not a problem at all. Then we were seated, and waited for 30 MINUTES for a server to come acknowledge us or give us water!!! We literally sat for 30 minutes with no water?? Servers kept walking by us and not a single one could have walked by and said hello? Or "we're really busy someone will be here soon"? I'm a server, I get it! He very cold, unconcerned, with a "you don't have to eat here" attitude was very disheartening. I will say this margarita was one of the best I've had! It was a special of the day, raspberry margarita on the rocks. Super fresh and delicious. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. Needed to send food back because the steak was so fatty that my husband and I couldn't even chew it enough to swallow. My husband who never complains about food was actually the one to bring it to the manager's attention when he stopped by our table to check in with us. The Manager got us a different helping of meat right away and it was quite a bit better. The rice and beans were not that tasty and the amount of cheese and sour cream provided was hugely inadequate for the amount of fajitas in a 2 person entree. There was also almost a 45 minute wait from ordering to receiving our entrees, it was late afternoon on a Saturday with very few tables. That was a ridiculous long time for the amount of customers. For the high price, lack of flavor and low quality of food, I won't be stopping back anytime soon. Also, the waitress left us with a machine to pay the bill and never checked in with us again. There was a glitch on the machine requiring a staff login so we couldn't pay and we wasted about 30 minutes trying to figure it out and track down our waitress. Approximately seven weeks ago was our first visit to Uncle Julio's. We were in town for two weeks and the final supper tally was nine at Uncle Julio's. My husband and I live in a State where there's only fair Mexican cuisine and the vast majority of casual dining restaurants are mediocre at best. We learned the food is prepared fresh every day At Uncle Julio's -- including the sauces and marinades. The Wednesday special is an amazing bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp served with a made from scratch sauce. The sauce contains honey along with 11 additional ingredients. The sauce begins with a sweet flavor and ends with a little kick. We've tried most of the items on the menu. However, when we landed on those succulent dishes that became favorites, we stayed with them. Tuesday is taco bar night and the "taco bar" is served at your table via a lazy susan. The meat choices are beef or chicken or both. Along with the meat there are two sauces, two cheeses, corn, onions, tomatoes, limes, cilantro, and lettuce. The taco bar is served with made from scratch corn and or flour tortillas. The Crema sauce is a favorite of mine. The meats -- chicken, steak, ground beef -- are all seasoned and cooked perfectly. The best part of the dining experience at Uncle Julio's is the staff. They have treated us as we are a part of the family (not the dysfunctional ones). Patty and Shelby are warm, welcoming and perfectly patient during the busy supper service. They are efficient and quite skilled in the kitchen and have the ability to appear at the right moment, in an instant where they're needed. We came back to Brookfield last week and of course, have dined frequently at Uncle Julio's. Both Patty and Shelby remembered us and welcomed us warmly. We found a favorite server during this visit as well. Julie anticipates customer needs, remembers favorite items and always exceeds our expectations. Today is Wednesday and I'm very much looking forward to those bacon wrapped shrimp and seeing our new friends. read more

Both of us had the taco salad and were amazed at how big it was. One could have fed both of us. The chips and dipping sauce were . Didn't have guacamole but it looked good as well. Dining out during the pandemic is a little bit strange, but Uncle Julio's tries to make the experience an enjoyable one. Checking in for our reservation was a little odd. The two hostesses at the door seemed to not have a clue what to do. Our friends were already seated at the table, yet the four hostesses inside (why are there so many?) handed me a stack of menus (curious) and took me to an empty table in the porch area. I said, my friends are already here, checked in and seated. There was a lot of calling around on their communication system. I eventually just walked around on my own (with my huge stack of menus) to find my friends. Really strange the plethora of hostesses were so clueless. Anyway, once I sat down, the service was great! It was my first time at UC's and I found the food to be delicious! The chips are thin, warm and well salted. Yum. We ordered guacamole that was insanely good. I had a taste for a spicy margarita, so the waiter recommended the El Jefe. Yow. This one packed a spicy punch! And it comes in a large martini shaker with two servings. Be prepared for how spicy this is with the black pepper on the glass. I would probably get the regular margarita that my husband had--so good. It was cute with the little lime rind floater on the top! For dinner, I had the steak and chicken fajitas--really good. Hubs had the steak fajitas, also good. My friend had the chicken fajitas--her fave and her husband had the carne asada. We loved our food! We were hoping to have the Chocolate Pinata for dessert to celebrate our friend's birthday, but they aren't serving it during the pandemic. Boo! The waiter said it's to "limit people sharing food", yet they serve a gigantic bowl of chips and guacamole, both which are meant to be shared... We made a reservation for 12 people to celebrate a birthday last night. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told we would be called when our table was ready. We went to the bar. The female bartender completely ignored us for 10 minutes. We finally were able to get her to acknowledge us, she told us she had many orders and would get to us when she could. 15 minutes later this rude woman, with no urgency in taking orders, finally took our drink order. Our party lined half of the bar. We asked for chips, never were offered, and she brought one bowl. When we asked for more she acted like it was such an imposition and took 5 minutes to bring the additional bowls. At 8:20 for a 7:30 reservation and we still are not seated. Hostess says she does not think it will be anytime soon. She was able to find a table by a booth to split our group. Our server, Allison, was the only bright light. She found us another table so we could all sit together. I told Allison we needed a piñata for the birthday girl. When we finished our meal I was informed the birthday girl would not get her piñata because they ran out. The birthday girl's celebration was a bust. Will never do a celebration here ever again. I have never had such a top down terrible experience like this at a restaurant in my life! The server (Will) was terrible and made excuse after excuse as to why we did not get our drink. He blamed the bar for everything. 1 person at our table of 7 did not ever get their frozen margarita. I had to go to the bar myself and there their "frozen" drink sat totally thawed out. I asked the bartender if that was the drink our person was missing and she said yes. I asked her to remake it and I would take it to him. The bartender Ellen was awesome and helped me out and also gave me another drink our server failed to bring. I asked the server to bring us another drink which was in a can and he spilled it all over 2 other people in the party as he poured it tableside. He made excuse after excuse. The fact is he was totally inexperienced and should have owned it. 3 out of 7 people ordered fajitas and none of them were brought out with the sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and other fixings usually accompanied with these items. We were given less than what was expected when we ordered our food. We asked to speak to a manager. The manager was great! Her name was Yvette. She was very nice and I made it very clear during our conversation that I understood it was not her fault but we needed to have a conversation so they knew where they were falling short. Yvette said to all of us they would take care of the bill. This was a company outing and was going to be expensed and that we were not worried about paying the bill it was only a matter of quality service we were worried about. This is a favorite among many who visit this area since we have a direct bill with a local hotel. She assured us she would take care of the bill and even offered us to he $40 desert that we declined. All 7 of us got up and left assuming the bill was taken care of because that is the message we were given. Within 20 minutes Susan called me. She told me that we had walked out on the bill and she was calling me to ask why. I explained to her the situation and that we were told it was being taken care of for us. Susan said "she did not say that" and I felt like I was as being accused of walking out on a bill. Multiple times she said I was not told that exactly what the other person (Yvette) told me that out bill was being taken care of. This is clearly a Susan problem. She doesn't have a handle on the business and makes it a customer problem instead of her problem. Blame is pointed at everyone else and not her own. She said Yvette had a "language barrier problem" and that was what happened. I think that is very offensive consider Yvette was very understanding and was able to speak very clear of what happened. Susan is the problem at restaurant 39! Yvette was amazing and Ellen was amazing! Will was terrible but I blame that on management and lack of development and leadership. What it comes down to is Susan. She told me I was never told something I was very clearly told and 7 people can back me on that fact! We are on a business outing. None of us are close enough to just walk out on a bill as a team without clear defined direction that the bill was being taken care of. I will never be back and I will also spread the word that this place is toxic with customers and how they treat them. The company I am with had at least 100 employees in the area with at least 1000 visiting annually. I will always deliver the message that I have been treated with the complete disrespect and it is not an establishment worth our business. It should be pointed out I offered to pay the bill in full with an 18% tip for the server multiple times and instead of it being accepted I was told I was wrong and a liar multiple times. read more

I love the margaritas! We've eaten here countless times. We love it. We usually get the skirt steak fajitas for two, it's plenty of food. They make the tortillas on site and depending on where you're seated you can watch them be made. My favorite margarita is the Tres Amigos, it has three tequilas in it. The chips and salsa are good. For dessert you can get a chocolate piñata. They give you a little wooden club you use to crack it open. There's fruit & churros, chocolate etc. it's so good. They take reservations which I like.
