My go to location is typically their Wauwatosa spot but I happened to be in Brookfield in need of some pre-movie eats and this location of BelAir came through! We stopped by on a busy weekend evening and had to wait a bit. The restaurant was bustling and the bar was completely full. One seated, we ordered guacamole and margaritas to start. Their guacamole is great with maybe a bit more pico added in than I prefer (I'm more of a purist when it comes to guacamole), the chips taste fresh, and the margarita was tasty. For my entree, I got three veggie tacos with beans and rice. I love the variety of veggie tacos and all were tasty. The service is fine and the prices are reasonable. Get to it! read more

Had a server here named Brandon who was incredible. We had to leave another establishment after a table we had been waiting on was passed to someone else and he turned our night right side up with how on top of when we needed refills on water and chips. Server also had great recommendations when asked. Me and my larger family always love this place for its feel and how much space they have for bigger groups. We went on a weekend for lunch and were able to be seated right away. The chips and 3 salsas are definitely great cause all three are quite different. The green one is more fresh and tangy, while the orange is creamy almost like a queso. The darker red is very smoky in flavor, but it's overall nice to have a variety. The burritos were both huge with plenty to take home. While their food is consistent everytime I would say that the quality is more mid tier and good for a quick bite but nothing phenomenal nor authentic. The service was nice but this day particularly was a little slower than their usual. I was out shopping with my nieces and mom at Von Maur when one of spotted BelAir Cantina and said she wanted tacos. We decided stop in. The entrance was very slippery due to the snow that day. They had a mat out but it was soaked. Truthfully I don't think there was much that could have been other than adding a caution slippery floor sign. We were seated away. We ordered chips and salsa, these are not free. One niece just wanted chips, the other ordered the gringo tacos, my mom the carne asada and me the shrimp bowl. If you order 3 tacos, rice and beans come with your meal otherwise it's extra. They did let my niece get an extra side of rice instead of beans. She devoured all her food. My mom liked her tacos but didn't realize it wouldn't come with lettuce and tomatoes. I love my shrimp bowl and it was massive. Could easily get 2-3 meals out of it. I did order a horchata and I needed to remind the server to bring it. It was delicious and I thought the cinnamon stick added a nice touch. The location and ambience is great, right in the thick of Brookfield Corners with a great patio and space near for kid activities. Our waiter was very friendly, though rarely checked on us so we all ran out of drinks/water. The $3 Tuesday taco special is a great deal. Tried evry taco and they're all solid except the fish taco which had zero flavor. Also the corn tortillas are not very good, I'd recommend the flour. This place is a great spot for the taco lover! Loads of options from steak, to pork, chicken, seafood, and even vegetarian. I ordered 3 tacos. Starting on the left was the Al Pastor taco. Marinated pork with a pineapple salsa. It was ok, nothing to write home about, but the flavor was good. On the right was the Korean Beef. Marinated skirt steak, lettuce, slaw, and a sriracha crema. It was sweet and spicy with rich flavors. A great taco for sure. I finished off with the middle taco which was the Salmon Plum. Seared salmon, plum and tomato relish, a house ham sauce, citrus slaw, and topped with fresh cilantro. This taco was by far the star of the show!! All the tacos came with the choice of corn or flour tortilla, and a side of rice and beans, however I swapped mine out for 2 sides of rice. I came here at 630 pm on a Wednesday. There was no room at the bar and we were told it was a 10 minute wait. Once seated it took our waitress a long time to take our drink order. My husband ordered water and I ordered a spicy mango margarita. My food came before my drink which should never happen. My food was like warm at best. I hate Mexican restaurants that don't give you chips and salsa to start your meal. My husband had a pastor burrito and he said it was good but also luke warm. There was a kid next to me running all over and it was very annoying. IF THE OWNER IS READING THIS, stop being cheap and pay busers. I was not a huge fan of this restaurant. I typically love Mexican food, so I was excited to meet my friend at this restaurant for a casual weekend catch up. But, I wish we tried another Mexican restaurant - one with better/more authentic flavors/food and service. I can start with some of the pros of my most recent dining experience: 1. The restaurant was well lit and looked very inviting. 2. The queso we ordered was delicious for the first 5 minutes before it cooled and became hard to scoop 3. They have a variety of tacos available - vegetarian, fish, meat Some things I disliked were: 1. Our waiter was noticeably rushing us from the moment we were seated - even though the restaurant wasn't busy or scheduled to close for at least 2 hours. On occasion, we had to ask her for more water when we saw that she was peeking around the corner at our table without offering us refills when our cups were clearly low (trying to see if she could get us out early). 2. First visit to BelAir Cantina in Brookfield and, overall, it was a good experience. They don't take reservations, but I put us on the online waitlist. It was great! On a busy Saturday evening, we only waited 5 minutes. There were three in our party and we all ordered a variety of tacos. Everyone loved their selections. Prices are per taco ($5+ per taco) so the cost ads up quickly. I appreciated that the server noticed I had ordered vegan tacos and steered me away from the pinto beans because they contain bacon. My only criticisms are that the restaurant is very, very loud. It also wasn't particularly clean. There was food on the floor under some of the tables, including ours, and our tabletop was sticky. What a fun Mexican American restaurant! I came to Belair Cantina with 2 friends Saturday midday and we were seated immediately. It was very spacious and cute inside! The menu here was extensive with tons of tacos, bowls, and drink options (and more). We ended up getting chips with salsa and guacamole for an app, and I got two takuchi tacos (tuna tacos). The wonton shells and fillings were all really good but I think it would have been better if the tuna was cut up like poke instead of 2 long strips of it. It was tasty nonetheless. The cocktails here are so great. I got the blueberry lavender and it was sweet and refreshing. Our service here was okay - our server didn't really check on us and never gave us silverware or straws for our cocktails until we asked, but it was hard to get a hold of her. Plenty of space, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, and even in view of an outdoor projection screen for all those Wisconsin sporting events! I had the Carne Asada, Chorizo, and Ninja Pig. The atmosphere is fantastic! The inside is beautifully decorated and there are garage doors opening the bar area for the summer. This is a fantastic place to go have a couple cocktails. Our server was slow to get to the table, 10+ minutes, but throughout the meal she was great. I ordered a marg that took nearly 15 minutes to come and we arrived prior to the dinner rush so I was not quite sure what the hold up was. We used to dine here frequently and the quality of the food had gone downhill. It has been about 4 years since we had been to this location and decided to give it another shot. The chips and salsa were great as always. They started to charge for these around the time of Covid and never went back, but I will splurge and pay for them, $2.01 won't break the bank and they gladly refill your chips. The spicy pollo taco was just okay. There was a decent amount of flavor in the chicken but the slaw was lacking! The shrimp taco was fantastic, it was so stuffed with shrimp I lost count on how many were in there but I believe it was 6. 6 shrimp in a street taco shell is a lot and every bite contained delicious flavor! The Wish Upon a taco was great and had really good flavor as well. It was a little awkward to eat, but the taste made it worth it! The Carne Asada taco, a Mexican staple, was not good and I urge you to stay away from this one. Mine was dry and flavorless and his was so fatty 50% of the meat was not edible. My husband and I ate at BELAIR CANTINA for an early lunch yesterday, prior to going to our son's soccer game. We were in a hurry and let our server know in advance. We were seated right away and the server did an excellent job of making sure our order was put in quickly. We both had a beverage and ended up getting the Cali guac, and corn appetizers. To our luck they have $2 select tacos on Tuesday and Thursdays! We each got two tacos in addition to an adult beverage. their standard margarita on the rocks was delicious and my husband was very happy with his beer. Great location inside of a shopping mall area, however, that made parking difficult... even on a random Thursday around the lunch hour. The others were fine. I had Carne asada, Zihuatanejo shrimp, and Tilapia Diablo. If you don't like sweet food then I don't recommend the Tilapia Diablo or skip the pineapple. The tacos were loaded, ingredients were fresh and had good flavor. I asked for a side of jalapeños which I didn't realize there was an extra charge of 1.79 for a few slices of jalapeños. Okay experience here and I've been before. The wait was a little longer than projected but it was on a $2 taco day so it was understandable. Our server stopped by and was pretty good about checking in on us. We both ordered 3 tacos and got the rice and beans with it. It may have been a while since I last went to Bel Air but 2 out of my 3 tacos were pretty bland. Don't know if it's a new recipe or just an off night. Same with the rice, and the beans were more of just a bowl of mush. My girlfriend and I have been here approximately 10 times in the last year. The food is always very good and the service is excellent. There is a tall female hostess/maybe manager who provides amazing service. But I cannot give them 5 stars for one resson: the mens bathroom. Every time I have gone here, the bathroom is disgusting. The cans are always overflowing so people start throwing the paper towels on the floor. The sinks are gross and often the dispensers are empty. When I attended UW Madison, I would often stop at Taco Bell on State Street at bar time. Their bathroom was revolting and until now the worst I have seen but the mens room at Bel Air Cantina has done the impossible and topped the bathroom of a Tavo Bell full of drunken college students at 3am. read more

Started off our meal with a half pitcher of raspberry margaritas and chips. Chips and salsa are not complimentary but it was only $2.00. You get three salsas and they are rotating. Today we had a roasted pepper, a jalapeno, and a creamy red pepper and for our tacos, I got the Ninja Pig which was sweet pork, a shrimp, and a black bean and corn. Hubby got the Pig, the shrimp, and the carnitas pork. With our 3 tacos, we got our free sides of rice and beans. There is a choice of black beans or pinto beans. This is also the second time that I went there, was seated and no one came to the table for over 15 minutes. The best thing about out dining experience was our server Michael D, he was really good. Our ten minute suggested wait time turned into a 45 minute wait. It was 2:30 in the afternoon, capacity was half-filled at best. During this wait it is hard not to think the 5 employees chit chatting at the host station could maybe have done something to speed things up, but I have no idea what their responsibilities were, maybe they were not on duty. No manager in sight. You notice these things during a 45 minute wait with empty tables in sight. The main reason for two stars was that the meat in the carne and carnitas tacos was dried out. I think if there had been some juices it might have been okay. But dry meat lacks flavor and makes it hard to chew. It is hard to imagine a chef serving dry carnitas or carne, you would have to be numb to your food. The next day, by chance, I found myself at another Mexican restaurant. I had one of the tastiest, juiciest, tender carnitas tacos ever (and can't wait to go back). It prompted me to write this review as the difference was so striking (not going back to BelAir). I have been going to this location since it opened YEARS ago, and the quality of the food has gotten awful. Carne asada tacos have been all fat the last 4 times I have gone. Manager is so lazy and does not problem solve. I would recommend any other location over this one.
