Just went there yesterday, 3/23/26, as it is one of my regular choices for good local Mexican food. I feel pretty certain they made some improvements to their food. First, the salsa and chips were improved. The salsa, both mild and medium, had a very fresh taste to them. I was impressed by the chunky medium salsa the most. Secondly, their accompanying chips were darker and thicker. They also had a distinct roasted corn flavor which went well with the salsa. Neither the salsa or the chips were drowned out by the other. The thicker chip stood up to the rigorous dipping I gave each one. Third, the refried beans they served with my chimichanga dinner were above the average pale looking serving. They were darker and nicely seasoned. I'd go back again just for them. I wish they served a little dish with these beans along with the salsa and chips. Fourth, only a one star demerit for their saggy bottom bench seats in my booth. Fifth, thank you for having hot water in the very clean Men's room for washing my hands. read more

Underwhelming. We were hopeful with some of the recent reviews, but this was just not a good visit. We walked in and a few tables were taken so we were hoping that was a good sign. There was music playing but a soccer match playing in the bar was plenty loud in the dining room and drown out the background music. The small house margarita starts at $8.50 and we both got one to see how they were. The size was larger than I thought it'd be at least. We also got a small basket of chips and a small cup of salsa. Not great but we still ate them because we were starving. We ordered tacos and they came out within about 5 minutes. The plates were cold, as well as the rice, and the beans were lukewarm. The tacos were hot at least. The barbacoa tacos ($16.99) were dry and didn't come with lime wedges, extra salsa, nothing. They were so dry that the single corn tortillas split pretty quickly. The pastor tacos ($16.49) weren't bad but no pineapple to be seen. The portions were okay but the food was not worth the price we paid. The weirdest part was when we got our check. None of the prices matched the menu and they also charged more for using a card. Don't appreciate the inaccurate prices and didn't see anything on the menu about being charged differently than what was posted. Our server seemed nice but it wasn't enough to make up for the weird space, lukewarm food, and overall disappointing experience. Will not go back. read more

Ok 3rd time for the new restaurant of the week today after the first 2 we're completely failures for completely different reasons. I'm promptly greeted as I walk in and for the 3rd time in a row the one diner is asked if I wanted to eat at the bar, WTF are you expecting a massive run on the half empty tables I'm looking at right now, no I want to leisurely enjoy my meal at a table, am I in the twilight zone today with this bar seat offering for the 3rd restaurant in a row. I'm promptly given chips and salsa at record speed before I can even get my chair into position. I order a small raspberry blended margarita was super average and if it was raspberry it didn't have a good raspberry flavor. The service was friendly and fast compared to my last 2 attempts for lunch. The chips were nicely seasoned, fresh with a nice corn flavor. The two salsas were very average with a chunky and a purée with the chunky being the better one. The menu was great with 4/5 different combination plates with no up charge for steak or carnitas. I ordered the combination plate with Al pastor enchilada, carnitas burrito and ground beef tostada that comes with rice, beans and sour cream. My plate looked great and the food was seasoned a bit I noticed. The Al pastor enchilada had moist seasoned pork, no grisly pieces but a couple pieces with a little fat which was tender, I like a little fat vs super lean. The carnitas burrito was simple with moist super average carnitas, lettuce and tomatoes. The ground beef tostada was my favorite with a crunchy corn tortilla, tasty ground beef topped with a pile of shredded cheese. Overall was it the best Mexican restaurant that I have been to, no but the food was tasty and the service was great. read more

True, this isn't the Mexican food one can get in say, Mexico. Or even Texas or Southern Cali. However, it is really good for Brookfield/Waukesha. And, the food is tasty and the staff is great. I'm a huge fan of their chimichangas. I also like their frozen Margherita specials. So, if you're shopping at Menards or Target and want a decent Mexican feast, look no further. I've been here at least 5 times and never been disappointed. read more

It was a Sunday at 11:30 picked up chimichangas to bring home. One order the chimichangas were completely burnt to the point it fried a hole into the Styrofoam container. The other order was not as bad. The rice and beans tasted like they were made three days ago. The little cups of salsa tasted like dish soap. 27 bucks down the drain it was disgusting. I came here on a Sunday evening with 6 others around 6pm. There was plenty of seating available and we were seated immediately. The dining area was separated with a window like wall from the bar but we were still able to watch the football game which wasn't a priority. I got the Steak Chimichurri Salad and the Parrillada. Our food took a long time to arrive and the waiter said it was the Parrilladas but this was the smallest Parrilladas I've ever seen. I was very disappointed in the dish. The star of the plate was the grilled cheese which is sad because this is a meat skillet. The potatoes were overcooked and soggy and the chicken had no flavor. The Steak Chimichurri Salad was another disappointment. I gravitated towards this dish because I saw the word, "chimichurri". When I think chimichurri, I think flavor explosion. This was not the case. This salad was basically chopped up grilled steak dressed with olive oil. You do not taste any chimichurri in this salad at all. The onions had more flavor combined than the salad and steak put together. Sad. Overall, my experience at Casa Tequila was lackluster. Our server messed up our orders a few times (got the wrong size margarita and mixed up one of the diner's taco order). read more

Waukesha location, I've been visiting a few times since my fish fry and the food and service have have been great. I found my favorite dish in the Alambre Cancun. Very generous serving, and tasty. I will get pics next time. I come here frequently for the taco Tuesday special. All of my Mexican dishes have not disappointed, so far. The fish fry has to be a work in progress. I encourage you to try it out if you're looking for authentic Mexican. Update: great choice Appetizer, Camerones Borachos. Bacon wrapped shrimp. I normally don't like my food wrapped in bacon, though I really love bacon. I really don't recommend this place. Food was okay but they nickel and dimed our group when we asked for cheese ($2.50), sour cream ($1.50), lettuce & tomato ($2.00) on a taco plate. Not to mention, they took my credit card and after the bill I saw, added another $2.50 without my knowledge as they charged the card. A nice Mexican restaurant with good food. This is a terrific meal for a fair price. We ordered burrito, chimichanga, and three tacos. Our waiter, Jose, did a nice job with chips and salsa and drink refills. It was very relaxed casual atmosphere, we were able to eat outside on this 70 degree fall evening. This is my second time eating at this establishment and both times I've had the WORSE customer service from the bartender on duty. Both times I was ignored for long periods of time while they helped YT people who had not been there nearly as long as myself. There was also another black couple at the bar who looked well over 30/40 years old that were carded but when another non black party came in sat at the bar and ordered beers they were greeted gracefully and not once carded. Throughout our time in the restaurant, our group was treated rudely. We felt invisible and as though we were intruding on the staff. We were seated and provided with menus and complimentary chips and salsa. The waitress came to ask for our drink order about 10 mins later, after being seated. I asked if there was a mojito drink special (I read about it online before coming in but, wanted to confirm). The waitress looked at me like I was the worlds most annoying little restaurant fly. I felt like I did something wrong by asking her anything at all. After staring at me like I was from another planet she told me the mojitos were BOGO. Great, I'll take it. The drinks were watered down and pre-mixed. Not my fav. After 25 mins of no one coming to take our order, I tried three times unsuccessfully to flag down someone to find our waitress. Finally, she comes over and takes our order. Her entire demeanor was very off-putting. I honestly haven't been to a restaurant with service like this in decades. It was so disappointing. The vegetarian menu selection looked good. There was a good variety of dishes. I settled on vegetarian enchiladas with mild red sauce. It would have been ok but, the vegetables inside the enchiladas were borderline raw/uncooked. The carrots were crunchy and needed ranch sauce not Valentina. And the busser would just stare at you and say nothing. You'd ask a question or for something like more napkins and he would just look at you. Stand there and look at you until someone else came along to try to assist. We even had to wait and wait for someone to come and cash us out. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a shot but, I don't see us coming back again any time soon. The service would have to radically change. It's too bad because it was a nice location for a group of colleagues/friends meeting up /coming from all different parts of the city and surrounding burbs. read more

A coworker had been telling me about this place for a while now. She is always raving about the happy hour. One thing she really liked about it was the free tacos and appetizers they offer at the bar. So I thought why not give it a try. Happy hour is from 3-5pm and they state taco and appetizer bar. This statement is not accurate. They do don't have a free taco and appetizer bar. They told us that you can get either 2 free tacos or an appetizer plate. So we said will try the appetizer plate and they brought it hot fresh and hot. It was delicious but when we asked if we could get the tacos the lady told us no. Now we were there to drink and eat some delicious Mexican food for happy hour and they were not obliging. So we ordered some table side guacamole which was delicious. We ordered queso dip and 2 al pastor tacos. We arrived at 3pm and left at 4:45pm. Drank a few margaritas and left with a $40 bill. So much for a reasonable happy hour. It's disappointing they claim to have a free taco appetizer bar and then don't deliver. I will definitely go back and eat lunch or dinner there because the food we ate was excellent. I just wouldn't recommend happy hour. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer a true taco bar that you can eat what you want. Update: 2 for 1 fajitas on Tuesdays so worth it!!! We would've ordered more drinks and racked our bill up but he never came back for us to order more! We got the burrito Colorado, chimichangas, and the quesadilla carne asada. The building was first built by steak n shake and there have been other restaurants that have come and gone but I was happily surprised when I walked through the door. This was my second visit and first to this location. Didn't know this until after we arrive by Tuesday is one dollar tacos (with soft drink purchase) and that includes beef, chicken, or pork. Dining companion ordered two of those and the presentation was beautiful and he said they were delicious. Had to try the queso sauce which tasted like grilled cheese and came out piping hot. Six dollars for a cup of cheese I thought was a little high priced but that's what I get for not asking. Shrimp tacos with mango salsa we're pretty tasty but the shrimp are pretty small. I really enjoyed Casa Tequila. It's clean and cute inside. At first when I drove up I thought it was a drive-thru, but it's a nice sit down Restaurant. The staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered a combination platter that included a chimichanga and enchilada, along with a side of rice and beans. My mom,who was with me, ordered the steak/chicken fajitas. I would definitely order the chimichanga again and the fajitas both were delicious. I usually go to Jose's down the road, but this was great additional option for Mexican and half the price! I like this restaurant. Unlike other reviews, we've always had great service. Food was prepared quickly and was quite good. Our favorite is the shrimp fajitas. They are excellent! Complimentary chips, salsa and pico de gallo are also excellent and very fresh. I like the shrimp tacos with mango salsa. I wish they'd use better quality shrimp, but they are very good. This is my second visit in three years since moving back to Wisconsin. I remember the first visit being pretty good, but as I was in the area today and I decided on whim to give them another shot for dinner take out. I ordered the fiesta fajitas and as expected, I received four meals worth or two meals for two people, unless you have a hearty appetite then probably just one meal for two people. Although the wife and I had just one comment to each other, that the steak was tender at times but rather fatty and required a lot of extra chewing, however the chorizo and chicken were really good. I did not take a picture as there is already a picture of the dish and the to go box wouldn't due it justice. Upon sitting in the bar area I was promptly given chips, fresh pico and really good salsa with a hint of garlic, but not over powering by any means. The bar area is pretty spacious with maybe 20 seats, which is decent if you want to catch some sports on tv while you enjoy a daily drink special or your meal. As I remembered from before, the employees are super nice and efficient at taking your drink and meal order. My sister brought me here and I'm addicted. I love the Barbacoa. I have had the burrito and also enchiladas. Both are very good. We also ordered the table side guacamole. It was delicious. They have a nice patio area to sit and relax and enjoy your margaritas or Coronas. Mango Margaritas are my favorite and I love theirs. They offer small or medium. FYI, medium are very big. It's my first visit today. I was eating alone and was unfortunately sat in the booth nearest to the hostess stand. It wasn't busy so my first impression isn't exactly positive. After being seated, they gave some chips and salsa. The salsa isn't spicy at all and could use a little heat - the chips are store bought and served at room temperature. (Growing up in a very Mexican neighborhood, I can be a picky sometimes.) The atmosphere is a little bland but may change with a larger crowd. Looking around at the clientele, it appears to be regular patrons. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a veggie quesadilla for a Saturday lunch. The soup arrived first and was surprisingly good. The warm soup was poured over some fresh avocados, cheese and tortilla strips, plus the soup had a little heat to it which was refreshing to taste. The quesadilla arrived a fair amount of time later, and too was warm when arrive. The beans and rice were typical and a nothing's special, and the quesadilla was smaller than usual, but flavorful - could be a little larger for the price. All in all was ok, would I come back, maybe? Will I bring colleagues or clients to eat here for meetings? No. 3 of 5 stars for the tasty soup and ok quesadillas.
