There were three of us and we ordered a shrimp salad and the salad was a little brown, they were not that busy so I was surprised when they served this meal like that. I had the chicken tacos and they were ok. We also ordered fish tacos I think the tool one piece of fish and cut it into two the portions were so off, I was really just eating a corn tortilla. The table side guacamole was good and the salsa and chips were good. The margaritas were awful, I wouldn't order those again. Service was good, he refilled our water once. We sat outside and it was loud cars going by with the radio so loud you could hear it from miles away, I know this isn't their problem I am just saying if you want to hear what people are saying you might want to stay inside. Know this before reading further, the stars are based on nothing but my subjective perspective. Therefore, let's start with the objective things about this place. The atmosphere is that of an open concept cantina with a huge fireplace in the middle that is encircled by hovering chandeliers, which look as if they were shipped directly from the middle ages. The food is not bad, in fact, it is quite tasty; however, nothing sets it apart from other Mexican food in the area. The staff is friendly and ready to aid with helpful tips and personal opinions if you wish. These are what make this place a return-to place for others; however, not for me. Now, for the subjective portion. When I say this place is not for me, I don't mean that it is disgusting and it should be avoided by everyone. I simply mean that I don't prefer it over other Mexican restaurants in the area. The main reasons that I don't prefer this establishment all center on three core items: price, menu, and feel or experience. Concerning the food, I believe this place to be severely overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, especially when one compares the portion sizes. For me, the price has to meet or exceed the portion. This one kills me each time, virtual menus. When did physical menus exit the world? Yes, the world experienced COVID. Therefore, these sociohealth conscience restaurants did away with menus but kept doorknobs. Anytime I am told to scan the QR code, the restaurant automatically loses a star in my book (told you it was subjective). Finally, the feel or experience. I do like the medieval cantina vibe but there was just something about the way we were quickly ushered in and out that made it feel as if we were at a money-making establishment and not a restaurant. My sister ordered the strawberry margarita, and I ordered the fresh margarita of the month (This month is Blueberry). We preferred the strawberry margarita over the blueberry, so we ordered a second round. For dinner, my sister ordered the quesa-barria, and I went with the braised beef barbacoa street tacos. Both options were delicious and would be considered for another visit. The quesa-barria beef was flavorful and juicy; the crunch corn tortilla was just what it needed. The street tacos were delicious, and I love how they didn't hold back on the toppings. I highly recommend this option for those who enjoy their food slightly spicy. I loved all the jalapeños. My wife made an appointment at 9:15PM and we arrived at 9:13PM We waited for about 10 minutes, but there was nobody at the front, and the waitress and other staff were just looking at us, which was a little awkward. We decided to leave and try Firebirds Wood, which is a 5-minute walk from Uncle Julio. I'm glad we did because Firebirds Wood has an amazing atmosphere, great customer service, and the food is excellent as well. Went in last week. Hadn't been in years. Was mildly disappointed. Sat down later in the evening and they weren't very busy. Took waiter about 20-25 mins to ask us for our drink order. We ordered the fajitas & table side guacamole. We really wanted to love it. The guacamole maker was a nice young man. He made nice conversation & asked us what we wanted in it. The avocados weren't ripe. They tasted "green". The maker also didn't add much flavor. So we poured our 2 tortilla chip sauces -- 1 red spicy sauce & 1 green mild sauce. I think Uncle Julio's improved a ton! I went there several years back and when they were packed the service was slow . However I just visited on a packed Friday night, to try their Flaming Fridays fajitas and we were so happy! We got the tableside guac, very fresh! The margaritas were strong. I loved the quesobirria (the consumme was on the liquid side but still delicious) The star was DEFINITELY the flaming fajita .. it adds a nice show aspect - they bring the full tray (with side dishes like the rice, beans , sour cream) with the steak and the cheesy shrimp fondue in the middle and light it up! It is a great deal on Fridays for two people and perfectly cooked to medium (see the photo). The service I observed from the other tables was fast, many couples and families were served when we were still eating. So don't let other reviews fool you much. Great spot with delicious food. Decided to celebrate my anniversary here and the experience was pretty solid. They did a great job with sitting us in a safe spot, and everyone was wearing masks/gloves and wiping everything down. I ordered the Guadalajara, and it was a lot of food. The jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, dipped in Mexican butter, was my favorite. Very tasty. I had the option to get the filet mignon fajitas for an up-charge of $2 instead of the steak fajitas and it was okay. Tasted average. The chicken was also good, luckily pretty juicy. I also enjoyed all the sides that came with it like the guacamole and tortilla. The food was kinda pricey for what I was eating so maybe not the best bang for the buck. The inside was also decorated nicely and it's pretty large so I assume in the post covid world, it gets pretty packed. Last time I was there (December 2024), service and food were ok. I came back yesterday and it was a very unpleasant experience. Food took 45 mins to get to us, when it did it was cold. They never came to the table to offer a single thing, we had to call the server whenever we needed another drink or extra plates. Food portions also were way smaller than my last visit. After we finished eating we requested a birthday dessert and when it arrived there was no space at the table to be sat on, we had to start moving plates ourselves and then asking the servers to remove them and free some room. Newest Uncle Julio's fan here! My husband and I had a great experience at this location. Upon entering, we were promptly seated and greeted by our server, Spencer. Spencer was very friendly and knowledgeable, giving us great recommendations. He truly went above and beyond with all of our requests. We ordered fresh guacamole to start, and he made sure it came out extra spicy! He also gave us spicy salsa (along with regular), and WOW! That is not for the faint of heart-- we loved it! For food, we got the quesadillas and Carnitas Fajitas Tacos. I absolutely loved the quesadillas and shredded chicken that came in them. It was also a HUGE portion, definitely enough to be a meal (ordered off the appetizer menu). My husband really enjoyed his tacos, and could drink the Honey Chipotle Glaze with a straw if given the opportunity. We washed everything down with house margaritas. Passing on our positive review for a recent visit to Uncle Julios! First, I must recognize our server Erika and manager Christian for their excellent service during our visit. After having to wait an extended period for our food (during peak times), our server continued to check on us and ensure we were good on drinks, chips, and salsa. Christian also stopped by our table to check on us, apologized for the wait, and grab us refills on several drinks and chips. Both were extremely hospitable and attentive during our entire visit. Tip: Call ahead and make reservations ahead of time. Second, this is our Go-To place for margaritas and fajitas. You can't go wrong with the "table-side guacamole" (not table-side anymore). Their salsa is unique but good. They have a watermelon margarita which is fantastic! I mentioned the fajitas, which I believe they're more known for, but we've had several of their other dishes and they're also good. We can't speak on their deserts. Overall, despite the longer wait for our food, the drinks, food, and service was excellent! We try to visit Uncle Julios whenever we need our guacamole, margarita, and fajita fix. I realize we were a huge group, but I'm not sure why there weren't two servers assigned us or why our one server didn't take lunch and drink orders at the same time. Placed an online order for shrimp fajitas for 2, guacamole, and sopapillas. Estimated time was only about 20 minutes and they still have the super convenient curbside pick up spots right out front. Very fast process so I am a big fan of that. Order came with two bags of chips but I am on the fence about them though. A little too thin/brittle, hard to scoop up the guacamole. The fajitas were a lot better than expected, lots of shrimp, and the handmade tortillas were nice and thick. Loved how they organized the toppings in separate containers. Rice and beans were pretty standard, beans maybe slightly salty. Sopapillas were great, not too sweet with the honey.
