My husband and I were delighted when we heard Uncle Matty's was opening up in our small little quiet country town. When we first went there, we were greeted by friendly owners and wait staff! They have all sorts of great and different bottled brews at the bar that my husband and I love experimenting and the bartender Bridget can literally come up with anything your heart desires. She's also a great waitress and an all around pleasure to be around. The owner, Matty and his wife, are extremely personable and a lot of fun to talk too. We never leave there feeling hungry or bored! Their food is TO DIE FOR! What I love about Uncle Matty's is they teamed up with a local farmer who also has his own business to supply the fresh ingredients they use with all of their meals! It's an extra special touch to know that you're eating food that you know where it comes from. My husband loves their wraps and burgers. And I love their Caprese Panini! It's my absolute favorite and I've even had the Caprese salad which if you're looking for a lighter meal, it's super delicious! You CANNOT forget their home made chips! Oh my goodness, my husband and I fight over them they are so good. And I guess I'll let you in on my guilty pleasure, the chocolate cake! It's chilled and has the best chocolate ganache ever! So yummy! Another thing I love is, Matty lets an antique dealer set some things around the restaraunt that you are able to buy. We own a farmhouse and love the "rustic" feel and have found quite a few great things ranging from mason jars to old tools that they have displayed around the place. Stop in and check them out. Splendid!! A great find after a day of winery hopping. My wife and I started with the feta fries. I didn't think these would be a big deal, after all, it's fries with feta. They were fantastic! If I had one critique it would be that these weren't hand-cut, but honestly, who cares! Delicious. My wife had the Spinach pie with a side of asparagus and roasted potatoes. She was very pleased with the dish. I had a simple Gyro with house-made chips. It was outstanding. The Gyro was meaty and the tzatziki was fresh and delicious. The house-made chips are made to order!! They were still hot from the fryer! They have a decent selection of beers and wines. One small note and I hope the owners see this. It would be helpful if you had a printed beer list. Our waitress struggled to name all of the bottles on hand and she shouldn't have to do that. There should be a list. We started with the feta fries. How wonderful! House made fries, very fresh and flavorful! They have a nice selection of craft or mainstream beers. Terrible experience. Beware! New cook and/or change in product line. Ordered Jerk Ahi Tuna! What I received was an over cooked, grossly, inproportionate sample of tuna on a hard bun without a garnish with a side of overlooked chips. The garnish of shredded lettuce and two slices of over ripened tomatoes was added after delivery of the order. When asked to speak with the "chef," I was redirected by the waitress, "will that be all?" Followed by "don't shoot the messenger," when the chef did not return my request to speak with him. Highly unusual to receive such inadequate service. Accustom to consistency??? Would like to say busy and understaffed but, quite the contrary. My mom and I visited here at around 6-6:30 pm on a Tuesday evening. I'm from out of town, however, my mom had told me on several occasions that this place was a MUST, so we decided to go while I was in town since she'd had prior pleasant experiences. On this particular evening, there was just one other party of 2 seated in the restaurant. I ordered the Matty Melt panini. It was just ok. The side house chips were way over cooked. The real issue we had here was with my mom's meal. She ordered the petit filet medium rare which came with the vegetable and starch of the day -- asparagus and roasted red potatoes. The steak was cooked to at least medium, not medium rare, and she described the red rose potatoes as "dry little hockey pucks." Upon letting the waitress know that she was dissatisfied with her meal, the waitress offered to make her a new plate. Having worked in the restaurant industry before, my mom has heard the slew of horror stories I've told in which returned food was met with some form of revenge (not by me). I'm not saying all restaurants do this, but it's generally a risk we don't like to take. We also just weren't interested in spending the time waiting for her to get a new plate considering I would've likely been finished eating by then anyhow. My mom asked if she could instead just comp the meal or maybe half of it. The girl said she wasn't able to do that and walked away. She came back about 10 minutes later to collect our plates (mine mostly empty and my mom's still in the same condition as beforehand), and asked if everything was still tasting good. My mom said no, and that she didn't want to pay for the meal. The waitress said "I already offered to have them make you a new one. I can see what I can do." My mom again told her that she despite her "seeing what she could do" that she simply wasn't going to pay for it. Eventually, another waitress came by and dropped the bill and had comped the meal from the bill. We left, and the employees did not greet us goodbye. Poor food and poor customer service on an evening where the restaurant was dead empty. I can understand not wanting to comp meals very often at a small establishment such as this one which doesn't seem to ever get very busy, however, in this case it was clear that the chefs just simply didn't care about putting out a good plate of food. read more

Great food. Great service. I had the mattys melt - it was great - the superior quality (and amount) of cheese on this sandwich definitely sets it apart! We had great food last time we went, so another trip was warranted. The quesadilla appetizer had a nice thin flour tortilla and plenty of melted cheese inside. Wife had Chicken Marsala with a side salad instead of vegetable of the day, eggplant, and starch of the day, rice. Portion size was huge and take home for tomorrow was necessary. I wanted the Atlee ribeye steak, but was told they were all out. My second choice was the Spinach Pie. That too was not available. So, my third choice was their signature hot dogs with French fries. I got the bacon wrapped dogs. I asked for fried onions, but there was a communications failure and the dogs came with raw onions. I asked that the onions be removed and didn't get fried onions in their place. The dogs were deep fried and the outside was nice and crispy. The bacon wrapping was a nice addition. The French fries were crispy outside with just the right amount of crunch with a nice inside. They were seasoned well. I would give them another five stars except for the unavailable dishes and the mess-up with the onions. read more

I spend a lot of time in winter in the Westminster/New Windsor/ union Bridge area. Food options are kind of limited, so I took the recommendation of a friend and went to check out Uncle Matty's. I was surprised by the variety of sophisticated options in what can be described as a very small town. The food was great, the atmosphere close and homey, and the service from Jordyn was excellent. She was attentive, and quite helpful as I was trying to work around the menu with a dietary restriction (dairy). I'm happy to say that the combination of good food and great service from Jordyn, this has become a weekly tradition for me to come over and work my way through this menu! The down side( if there is one) is that with this many options I end up ordering three people's worth of food. Definitely check out the shrimp and crab scampi, and don't overlook the house salad dressing! I now order a large house salad every time just so I can enjoy the dressing. Tried it twice hoping it would be better. First visit with my grand kids was ok. Their kids menu satisfied a need for decent food but fun for kids. My Cubano panini was edible but definitely not a Cubano, over cooked crispy ham made the sandwich hard to eat. Visit 2 with my husband- club sandwich was standard fare, no complaints. The Matty's Melt panini was a slab of "prime rib" that was tough, not sliced for ease of biting into a sandwich and I basically gave up as each bite dragged a slab of meat out of the sandwich and wouldn't cut off as a bite to chew. We ordered 6 hot wings with blue cheese- wings under coked with soggy skin and the chicken was dry. Spice was ok but no carrots or celery to dip in the blue cheese as an accompaniment. Really wanted to like this place but they have a long way to go to get the basics right! read more

Never again!! This is the place I went & they sent me a very saucy Fettucine Alfredo, because it was like soup. I didn't want it and wanted something else after receiving it. The waitress asked me what else she could get me so I asked for a Sub instead. I heard noise in the kitchen like the Cook freaking out. Throwing stuff, yelling... it turns out it was about my returned food but I'll get back to that is a few but leading up to that the waitress brought me my sub and I thanked her & I ate it. It was good but then when we went to pay, they had my wrapped fettucine alfredo and a bill for both items as well as my family's items. The Wife (co-owner) told me they didn't think they did anything wrong and are charging me. The Waitress was in the wait station listening and smiling & laughing at this news to me. I said the waitress never told me I needed to pay for it and asked if she could get me something else... that wasn't fair that she didn't tell me you weren't taking the item back. The waitress was laughing and the wife said we believe our food is good and nothing is wrong with the dish... meanwhile in kitchen a very angry chef/cook is cussing and screaming in anger who turned out to be the Owner of the restaurant. He could have come out to discuss with me but he didn't, he just continued to throw a fit and leaving his wife to tell me I was paying for that meal. Then I was thinking, what did he do to my food???? This waitress and Owner were laughing at me as to put me THE CUSTOMER in my place over my return of the food. I couldn't believe what was happening and I rejected the situation and said, why didn't you come to me and tell me before I ordered another dish? Why??? The food came out not appealing and was very saucy, like soup. And I asked the Owner why did she ask me if I wanted something else and tell me I wasn't getting the food replaced but that I would have to pay for it before serving me the sandwich???? And said if that was the case, I wouldn't have ordered a sandwich. They behaved horrifically. I will NEVER EVER RETURN TO THIS BUSINESS. They shouldn't be in business with their attitude toward customers. The Owner can't take criticism. I should have called the Better Business Bureau... why I didn't I don't know. I'm still haunted by eating the sandwich because something is so unsettling and I believe he did something to my sandwich but I can't prove it. By the screaming and yelling and throwing of things PLUS the way the waitress & Wife Owner was laughing over the situation made me wonder. JUST A HORRIFIC BUSINESS!!!! read more

After moving to the area we have been exploring local restaurants. We really enjoy the food here!! The booths are a tight fit. The dining room has been on the cold side. The food is great! They have a good selection of beers as well. The customer service is on a first name basis and you can tell the staff really cares about making the customer happy. I haven't explored the menu as much as I would like since I love their blackened tuna steak sandwich so much, but what I have had has been nothing short of delicious. There's nothing like Uncle Matty's in Carroll County. I sometimes get their feta fries on the side when I'm really hungry and they are on point! One thing worth mentioning are their homemade chips. Uncle Matty's Eatery is now one of my regular stops. I normally get the chicken salad sandwich with homemade potato chips and pickle and it is fantastic with large chunks of chicken. When you think of New Windsor, a great restaurant probably wouldn't be the first thing that would come to mind, but this little town has one and I would highly recommend giving it a try. Serving classic American fare in a quaint, somewhat small, dining room that is usually never too crowded that you would ever have to wait to get a table. Great burgers. We eat here a couple times a month. The restaurant is always clean and the wait staff is friendly and consistent. The menu offers a variety of items from bacon wrapped hotdogs, burgers, salads, all the way up to fancier pasta dishes and filet mignon. Everything is homemade except the desserts. We once ordered calamari and it was the best we've ever had. The homemade marinara sauce was out of this world. The prices are reasonable, and the portions large. Some of the dinner dishes are a little pricier, but we tend to stick to the basics of burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. We have never had a problem with anything we've ordered. We always leave full, and with leftovers. I would recommend Mattys if you happen to be passing through our small town. If you live farther out like Westminster, I would recommend the drive. We have never had to wait for a table, which is great, but I do hope they get busier and remain open! read more
