The last time we were here was about a +/- couple months ago. Cute atmosphere just like a coffee shop should be. But some minor repairs (just a delicate face lift would suffice) are needed. The place looks used and slightly dingy. The outside patio and rear garden are also nice, especially sitting under the trees, very relaxing. The coffee itself is average, but definitely better than your DD or Starbucks. The pastries....? not great. The service? Sometimes great, sometimes not. The preparation area could use a good cleaning. Overall, we give it between 2-3 stars depending on the service. read more

Every single visit home I make a stop at Uncommon Ground. I normally just get one of their flavor of the day cups, or a cup of their fair trade organic selections. The baked goods our out of this world. I've had muffins, cupcakes, scones, cheesecake, biscotti--all of it, delicious! One of my favorite things about Uncommon Grounds is it's little library area. A huge bookshelf fills the wall and there are tons of magazines, newspapers and books to choose from. The music is always right up my alley and I enjoy the people that work there. All of them are friendly and ask how your day is going. The patio outside is quaint, but on a nice spring afternoon it serves for great people watching. I stopped in unexpectedly a week or so ago. I meant to only get a quick shot of espresso and use the restroom but I ended up getting organic carrot juice and the mac n cheese. Both were amazing. Besides the food, the service we really good too. I didn't catch her name but a dark-haired alternative chick behind that helped me was super friendly. Good brews. And teas. A lot of Java snobs put out pure rifle cleaner in lieu of decaf; these folks put out a really tasty, full-bodied Colombian. My wife got a very nice Apicot tea. Staff is nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is my coffee spot in Saugatuck. read more

I was first in line, and then they closed the window I was ordering from. In the shuffle, I ended up nearly at the end of the new line. When I came here, I got the egg bake (Greek style), and it was splendid! The feta was perfectly balanced (Something very hard to do), and overall it was great. I also got the birthday cake donut, and the batter was very moist. The decor was very homey and true to its roots. Overall, I would give a 9/10 on food and 10/10 on atmosphere. read more

I was craving a nice Cream drink similar to a frappichuno from Starbucks. Unfortunately, they didn't have one without coffee. I got a caramel steamed milk. They have brilliantly evolved through every coffee trend over the last 20 years and are now on the cutting edge again as they embark on the latest coffee counter culture movement. The place is warm, inviting and a piece of local flavor. Although I admit, the coffee is inconsistent depending on the time of day but when the right barista is there it's 5 stars. As long as the owners continue to support their very talented roaster and baristas, the sky is the limit for Uncommon Grounds. Don't give up guys!
