Got the full flight and was impressed (highly recommend)! I wish I visited sooner. Took some out of towners out for a taste of Houston, and Under the Radar did not disappoint--even if it was cold and rainy. The ambiance was very friendly and cozy. There's a small indoor area and a large outdoor patio. They also carry some games to play. Pretty much all the brews got a thumbs up by our group. My favorites were Radar Love, Slam Dunkel, and Porter Authority. Also, the location of the brewery is great if you're looking to barhop in the area. Very spacious outdoor area with nice lighting. Private parking lot. Very close to Axelrad. Nice family and dog friendly area. Down side is the beer is not the best in Houston by any means and they don't rotate or expand selection very much if at all. If you're looking for a place to hang out with the family and friends and not picky about beer then this is the place for you. A casual spot, as most breweries are. Pretty much all outdoors, with picnic tables and lots of pub games. Like bags, even a little mini put put area. There are now plenty of TV's (I think when they first opened they had not installed these yet). I'm assuming the guy taking orders at the counter bar was either owner or brewer, maybe both...he is very friendly and personable. Selection on my visits have always been very sparse. They were out of a handful of beers on the menu on my last visit. Overall though, I have never been the biggest fan of their beers. IPA is OK the Bock is just really sweet for my tastes, without any other malt characteristic. Nothing particular bad at all, just not really to my tastes. So, a nice spot to visit, and might be more to other peoples tastes than mine. Which is fine, I'm sure I'll be back but not among the breweries I usually visit. read more

Now this is a great neighborhood stop for hanging out with friends and just having a good time. The draft options will never let you down, there are always friendly direction when your not sure what you feeling but I really like Russian Imperial (not a Trump associated beer). Good cute little place to come to have a few beers. The place is outdoors. There are trees for shade when it's hot, and they have lamp heaters when it is cold. They often have trivia night on Wednesday, and have a special of 3 dollar beers. Depending on what trivia night it is, it does tend to get packed. So I suggest showing up 30 min early to find parking and signing up your teams. There's street parking so it is not hard to find parking, but it can be a bit of a walk sometimes. read more

Wonderful covid safety measures that haven't really disrupted the usual flow since it's so open and outdoors already. We were in the downtown Houston area and my wife did a search for local breweries and she found Under the Radar. The four of us (with our kids) stopped by and tried a beer flight of 5 beers: Dirty Blonde Ale, Mid Frequency IPA, Midtown Bock, Porter Authority, and Radar Love. After sampling the flight, I gave them my own personal ranking of: 1) Dirty Blonde Ale 2) Mid Frequency IPA (I typically shy away from IPA's, but this one was really good) 3) Midtown Bock 4) Radar Love 5) Porter Authority The brewery was very quaint. There were games on the shelf for kids (and adults) to play. It was pouring down rain when we stopped by but fortunately for us, the brewery was not busy. There is limited seating (indoor and patio); however, we found a bench inside so we were protected from the rain. It was an enjoyable experience and I would go back to Under the Radar Brewery. We went here for the first time last night for their Futurama trivia. This place is great! It's mostly outdoors with lots of picnic table seating, pretty trees and lights and great beer. Their trivia was really fun and everyone that works there was SO nice. They are all very friendly and talkative. We saw that they were dog friendly so we brought our dog, and one of the gentlemen there gave him a treat when we first walked in! I thought the heat would be really bad, but we went at 7:30 and although it was humid for awhile, by the time the sun went down it was pretty comfortable. I bet it's wonderful in the spring & fall. They do lots of different trivia and events too. Their beer is great and their pricing is amazing. They have $3 pints on Wednesdays, and their flight (which is 5 generous portions) is $10. We got a flight (except for their Porter because they were out!), plus two pints with the tokens we won in the first round of trivia. I loved their Slam Dunkel and their Midtown Bock, but everything was great. They do have a food truck there, but we ate before we came so we didn't try that. You can also bring your own food. All in all, it's a really cool place with a friendly backyard vibe. Definitely worth a try & we'll definitely be back! read more

Fun little spot to grab a beer with friends in Midtown! They have a little putt putt area and TVs around the outside seating. Only downside is that if it's raining it's not a great place to be. If it's cold they do have space heaters under the tents to huddle around. I had the blonde and the kombucha (non-alcoholic) and really enjoyed both! You can bring your own food and they had some food trucks open nearby. Tried some of the fries at the Hawaiian food truck and all in all had a great time here - I'll be back! read more

Great place, cool experience, nice staff. However, park at your own risk. The parking lot is not secure, no camera, half of the lot was lit, half was not (we arrived while it was still daylight). Our car was broken into and an item with sentimental value stolen which was very unfortunate. The manager was very apologetic, however, if you cared about the people that chose to patronize your establishment you would do whatever you could to make sure they were safe, adding a camera to the parking lot and making sure it's secure would be a good start. Came here around January and I was super impressed by the quality of beer here. I got the flight sampler from Groupon which came with a flight of beer, mini-golf, and free pint glass from them. An excellent deal and wished I lived closer. I'm not sure if they sell growlers, which I would definitely buy, nor am I sure if they fill them. But if they did, I would definitely fill one or two up. The environment is great especially for a winters day. They have have board games such as Catan and other big names that I cannot recall. As for the beer, their best beer I tried was their Kölsch. If I recall, we tried: Kool-It Kolsch Radar Love (Hefeweizen) Raspberry Love (Hefeweizen) Trophy Wife (Blonde) Dirty Blonde (Blonde) What the Gekkie (Kottbusser) Koffie Gekkie (Kottbusser) Mid-Frequency IPA Griswold Family Porter Laughing Bear(Milk Stout) In the end we were very pleased with the experience at the time. read more

I think I tried their IPA as well, but I honestly can't remember...you get a glass with 3 brews for $15, and early day drinking coupled with decently strong brews had me pretty tipsy by that point. They have small indoor space by the bar with a TV, as well as outdoor space with benches and, as all Houston beer gardens and breweries do, cornhole. Good place to bring your dog, watch a game, and spend a lazy weekday evening or a weekend afternoon. Axelrad is also just a few blocks down, so you could head down that way for extra brews & food afterward! Came on a Sunday to check it out and meet a friend, and I'll be back for sure. 5 stars for the beer. Apparently things get hopping when they have events, but on this Sunday afternoon it was a great place to laze away an afternoon with good beers. Dog-friendly, and great people. I had their hef, porter, and a sip of the blonde. All 3 were excellent. The blond has a good caramel tone and I'll order my own next time, and the porter has a strong coffee flavor which I love. There is a food truck in the lot next door that serves excellent pretzels, brats, etc. I talked with one of the owners, and they import as much as they can from Germany. This is the real deal, and it shows. It's a bit hidden, and it feels like you're hanging out in a neighbor's front yard with great beer and great food. I hope to see their beer in some of my favorite area restaurants, too -- especially the porter. read more

Came here on a rainy afternoon. Thankfully there was indoor seating. The overall vibe was laid back and unkempt almost?, not that I'm complaining. We did do the $15 for 3 beers plus pint glasses. They had 7 beers to pick from and my favorite was the Bock actually, unusual as I prefer Blonde most of the time. The bartenders were really friendly and helpful. There was a food truck but we didn't partake. There are also a set up for Corn Hole as well as a variety of new board games available, such as Settlers of Catan, Clues, Battleship...etc. By the way, their logo reminded me of Buffalo Wild Wings for some reason. read more
