I was pleasantly surprised by Underdogs. It doesn't look like much on the outside, just like your run-of-the-mill dive bar. Turns out it has a huge whiskey selection and lots of great beer. The bartender (who I believe was the owner) is very knowledgeable about his stock. He took the time to go over the menu with us to help us pick whiskies we would like. They have a large variety of liquors and craft & barrel aged beers, a fantastic selection of whiskey & infusions like strawberry Tequila and honey Whisky. Big screen tvs above the bar, outside on both patios & throughout the bar area. No food served but conveniently, in the parking lot, Los Perros food truck is serving up food that can be brought inside to munch on. Not craving Mexican food? No worries, right across the street is Ninja Raman or a few other food selections are within walking distance. If you don't feel like watching a sports, entertain yourself with a game of pool on one if the two tables inside, foosball, cornhole in the outside back area, or your choice of video games including Big Buck and Golden Tee. My homie and I frequent this place for after work beers. Craft IPAs and other great craft brews on draft at around $5 a serving are pretty affordable. I love the patio as it's nice to be out there when my friends have a smoke. I'd definitely recommend this place if you and your buddies are looking for a place to chill with good, cold draft beer. What a great bar. I had an Old Fashioned. And then I had three more. They were made with grapefruit. So good. SO GOOD. Thanks to Dustin, the personable bartender for sharing your expertise. Cool sports bar. Flew into Houston last night for the first time and met my friend here. Very "homey" feeling bar with pool tables, arcade games, high tops, and dogs! Tv's are scattered throughout showing various games and they have a pretty good beer list - new beers, at least for me. There's also a good taco truck outside and they let you bring outside food in. I love Underdogs and Dustin and the crew. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable, and can always give the perfect recommendation if you describe what you are looking for in a drink. My husband loves the craft beer selection and I love the whiskey selection. Dustin always has the perfect referral in that area and I can trust that whatever I purchase will be quality and worth my money. Of course you can always find a sports game of your choice on any of the TV's and food trucks are nearby. The prices are very reasonable. Tacos are actually spicy if you add the hot sauce (yaay!) No food served by the bar, but you can bring your food from outside. 6) Casual dress (not trashy, and not pajamas, but casual). I would recommend it- great chill vibe, relax away from crazy crowds, lot parking and parking on the side of the street. 10/10 would go again. Try the apple shot! and the purple gatorade shot. Drinks and dogs?! Nothing gets better than that! Super friendly staff, some of them even attempted to play with my dog which I really appreciate cause he's a pitbull and tends to scare off people. The reason for 3 stars though is because I don't know if the AC was down the day I came in or it's just naturally hot but boy was it HOOOT in there. My boyfriend also order vodka and soda and told the bartender he wanted "well" which is suppose to mean their house vodka but the bartender just kinda stared at us super confused and told us that they didn't have well. My boyfriend then decided to order a Texas beer instead and once again the bartender looked extremely confused. If you have a dog this is your place. It is the only off leash bar I am aware of in Houston. My two dogs and I really enjoy coming here. I can actually relax instead of keeping them on a leash. Great socialization for the dog. There are multiple TVs playing sports. They have a good selection of draft beer. One of the better features is a large selection of infused liquors for cocktails. I let him pick every beer I tried and I wasn't disappointed once! We love this place because it feels like having a beer in your own living room. Love walking here with our dog or coming over after we work out (because beer and the gym go hand in hand). The owners knows good beer and how to serve their loyal customers. If you're hungry, there's a legit Colombian food truck next door that I totally recommend. The best part about this bar is that they're dog friendly, the owner is knowledgeable of the beer and the environment is welcoming despite it being a dive bar. The pie shots are super yummy and they have an incredible selection of beer. Love going there to meet other pups. FAIR WARNING: people are constantly swinging the door open, so if your dog is prone to running away, I wouldn't recommend letting them off leash. Went to Underdogs for a friend's birthday and enjoyed this place quite a bit. The main appeal is that it's dog friendly so pups can run around in there and there is also a large outdoor area in the back to hang with the dogs. They had water bowls for them and plenty of space. One recommendation I would have to people going there and planning on being in the outdoor back part is to take bug spray because there were tons of mosquitos (though it did rain earlier in the day). Thankfully another friend had flea/tick/mosquito spray for dogs and happily it worked for us humans also! I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that this bar has a great beer selection both draft and bottle. Great place! Has lots of big screen TV's, plenty of seating and outdoor seating as well. They had plenty of drink choices but not as many as I thought on the draft beer selection (still quite a few though). I had a good time watching the Olympics games with my friends. I've always loved the idea of dog friendly bars, and while I've been to a couple, this place really won me over. Typically when I go have a drink with my dog, it's because I'm either bored out of my mind and my friends aren't available, or I just feel like grabbing a few and think about whatever I've got on my mind. I forget what day I came here, but I'm thinking it was a Saturday/Sunday evening around 6-8. It wasn't too crowded, but I definitely didn't mind that. Originally sat outside which was basically completely empty, because I didn't know my son Bane (my dog) was able to come inside. I moved inside to a table when the bada$$ bartender (I think he may be the owner or manager) told me I could let him loose if I wanted, so after letting him know he's pretty energetic, he still gave me the green light. I let him loose, and he loved it. He was walking around inside and then would go outside and wander around, coming back to me every so often. All of the other patrons were super dog friendly and would pet him when he'd go up to them and just hang around. The bartender I mentioned was super friendly and talkative, and would just shoot the sh*t with me and anyone else at the bar, and loved my dog too. Good solid beer selection, and they had sports going, which is always a plus in my book. This is gonna be my go to dog friendly bar from here on out. Cheers! read more

I really love this place! It's one of the few places in Houston you can bring your dog, and not worry about him/her at all. The bartenders and patrons are very chill and like dogs. My dog isn't poorly behaved, but he is curious and will walk up to you even if you're in the middle of playing pool. So I appreciate that everyone is really nice about it and doesn't get in a huff when he butts in. There's a great space out back for the dogs to socialize (and their owners too!)
