Parking is free bc it's in William Land park. Might have to walk a bit but better than Gilroy where you have to pay $25 AND walk a lot to get to your car. Face painting available for $15. Food available but we haven't ever bought. Overall good for littles. Tickets are affordable ($18 adults, $10 seniors, $25 kid, under 34" free, $90 season pass). A bit hot on the hot days bc we're in sac but more shade & breeze than expected. Lots of sitting areas. Small and has limited rides but my kiddo still enjoys spending about 2hrs each time.

Avery's birthday at Discovery Kingdom was an absolute blast!…read more We spent a good six hours at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for Avery's birthday, and this was honestly such a fun first big amusement-park experience for our family. Avery had an absolute blast from the moment we got there until it was time to leave. The Looney Tunes characters were probably the biggest highlight for him because Looney Tunes is his favorite, and Wile E. Coyote is his absolute favorite character. We happened to catch Wile E. while he was closing down his picture area, but he still stopped to say hi to Avery. When Avery told him it was his birthday, Wile E. actually stopped what he was doing and brought him back over to the picture area so they could take a photo together. That was such a sweet little moment, especially because he didn't have to do that. We also caught the 3:30 Looney Tunes dance show, although we got there a little late and couldn't get seats because we were on the other side of the park. Avery didn't care -- he was out there dancing like he was part of the cast. One of the service team members noticed how much he was dancing and told me that if we came back around 4:15 for the 4:30 show, Avery might have a chance to get picked to go onstage for his birthday. And IT WORKED. Avery got picked to go onstage! He wanted to be on Team Bugs because Bugs had won the previous dance show, but he ended up on Team Daffy instead... and Team Daffy WON! He was so proud of himself and had the absolute time of his life. Watching him have that much fun on his birthday was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire day. We rode basically every ride Avery was tall enough and comfortable enough to ride, explored the butterfly garden, saw the lions and giraffes, watched the shows, ate pizza and breadsticks with our food pass, grabbed drinks, and still managed to squeeze in more rides afterward. There is definitely plenty to do here even if you're not spending the entire day on roller coasters. One warning, though: the Road Runner roller coaster is INTENSE. That thing has some serious whipping and an extremely abrupt stop. I would definitely prepare yourself for some unexpected movement because it is much more aggressive than I expected. Even some of the smaller kids might find it intimidating just because of how fast it moves. Know what you're getting yourself into before you climb on that one! Also, prepare to get your steps in. This park is big, and we walked A LOT. But honestly, that's part of the experience. There was always something else to go see, another character to find, another show to catch, or another ride to get on. For a first amusement park experience with our kids, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better day. Avery got to meet his favorite Looney Tunes character, dance onstage on his birthday, win a dance competition, see animals, explore the park, eat good food, and ride a bunch of rides. Everybody had fun, and it was absolutely worth the money we spent. This was our family's first real theme-park adventure, and it definitely opened the door for us to start checking out other parks too. Great America and the other California amusement parks are definitely going on the list, but Discovery Kingdom was a pretty damn good place to start. Six hours later, exhausted, stuffed, and with a very happy birthday boy? I'd call that a successful day.

It used to be a fun, interactive, and inclusive DANCE PARTY FOR KIDS. We didn't see any Halloween themed stuff this year. Did it get canceled? More positive highlights - feeding the giraffes, a great value for just $10. Get there early! We also enjoyed the Wildlife Experience show - we saw a diverse array of animals. Plenty of large dinos for families to enjoy (and touch - wasn't sure if this was allowed but we did it anyways as I'm sure the creators intended it for young kids). Take it slow, don't rush. Done with your tour? Backtrack back to the beginning and do it all over again! First round you're typically taking pictures. So make the second round a fun experience for yourself and absorb everything the Dinos Alive staff put together. Afterwards, there's a fun station for coloring dinos and scanning them to show up walking on a projector! Pretty darn cool, if I says so myself. Fun little eggs to take photos in. Excavation zone to dust off dinosaur bones. Couple rides for young kids with a small and big dino to take some videos. Small shop to purchase stuff if your wallet feels generous. The entire experience, with backtracking and seeing the dinos twice while taking our sweet time and messing with the kids, took a little over 1 hour. If you rush through, it'll take a measly 10 minutes (so don't do that). Highly recommended if you have children who are into dinosaurs! You are basically helping to donate to the zoo and the animals. They have train rides that are $4 per person. Get there early if you don't want to stand in line for the train. Many photo boxes for photo opportunities. The lights were nice but nothing "wow". We paid extra for ice skating. The rink is ok in size. A tad smaller than the rink from downtown. We asked the front desk lady which she recommends and she said the unlimited ride pass, it comes with a car (8$ worth of tokens in arcade) we asked "is every ride open" she said yes absolutely! Great. We paid $36 per kid totaling around 75$ after taxes. We walked out to the rides (they have 8) and there was ONE attendant to the whole park. I finally noticed a man standing around wearing an employee shirt, so I walked over to him and said "is this ride not open" he looked pissed and said "yeah". He unlocked everything, doesn't say a word just pointed to the go carts to our kids. Our kids do the ride and we go to talk to the rest of the rides. Again NO WORKING EMPLOYEES TO BE FOUND. So I go back to the one working attendant and ask"hey is anyone working" he responded "there's only two of us, when I'm done here I can help you" meaning they have two attendants doing a ride at a time for everyone at the park and you are expected to stand and wait 20+ mins in hopes a employee comes up or unless you actually tell them every single time you want to go on a ride. We immediately head inside to speak to the manager and he was extremely rude and condescending. Said absolutely no refund. He would not send any other employees to work and cover the rides because he had four employees working, what later comes out is that two of those employees were at the batting cages not the actual rides. So if you want to pay top dollar to stand in a line waiting for employees to show up when they are finished with one ride, then this is your place. The one employee working the bumper boats was just absolutely miserable and being super rude to the kids, I'm talking like 6 or 7 years old yelling at them. He yelled at one for parking his boat in an open slot, apparently it wasn't the right spot to the worker, which fine if it needs to be moved but you don't have to yell at a kid to get him to move it over two spots.
