I am not a car detailing person. If the thing gets me there without breaking down, I'm basically happy. So I often let the interior get a little, shall we say untidy. But when a friend gifts you a car detailing for Christmas, I thought perhaps there was a hidden meaning to it. Like someone who's been offered a breath mint, I took it as feedback more than a kind sharing of a refreshing confection. And that's when I went to Unfilthify. Originally I looked Brian up because the headlight lenses of my old Honda were cloudy, and he can polish the exteriors. (While I don't care how the car looks, I do appreciate it when the headlights actually illuminate the road at night). Anyway, the rest of this review is in line with the others. Over the phone, he let me know what to expect in terms of pricing and what services were included in the interior detail and he thankfully had an opening 2 days after the call. In October/November 2021, Brian reached out to me to see if I needed my car detailed. I used to get my car detailed in San Francisco every several years when I lived there, but I wasn't going to drive out from the East Bay. So when Brian told me about his mobile detailing service, I made an appointment in November to get my husband's car detailed in our driveway. My husband is the type of guy that doesn't like to pay for something he can do himself. So his car hadn't been properly washed in years since he only hoses it off from time to time. There were also a few milk tea spills in the front passenger seat from takeout mishaps. Brian arrived on time and went right to work for many hours. When he was done, the car was so clean down to the rims. There was no evidence of spilled milk tea, and even the center console was organized! TLDR: AMAZING detailed work and thorough and QUICK communication. (things I look for myself when I want to hire someone!) My friend's car was in dire need of a deep cleaning. She bought the car new maybe 13 years ago and never cleaned it. She spilled an entire bottle of hand sanitizer in her passenger seat. She had random leaves in her trunk. She had a succulent growing in there (I don't know how it stayed alive in there). She was visiting me and I drove her car, which prompted me to ask if I could pay to get her car detailed for her lol. I reached out to Brian and asked him if I could have him detail my friend's care but warned him that it was in pretty bad/neglected shape. He was very quick to get back to me and we scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule because my friend needed her car back. In one days' notice, he was able to squeeze me back into his schedule. Before he came by, he gave me lots of information about what to expect and a quote. The day he showed up, he said he would take approximately 5 hours. He actually took 6 hours but didn't charge extra. He set up his station and went to work. He was amazingly meticulous with his work. Brian is the guy to go to for a thorough detailing! He's great at answering questions & explaining the steps he took to make our Civic look and feel new again. Our tires looked better than when we first bought them. The food stain on the ceiling was totally gone once he was done. The weird smell mixed with the wet dog smell was eliminated. Our chrome detailing in the front of the car was shiny (I lost hope years ago that it would get that shiny again) and the paint feels nice and smooth. Major issues before Unfilthify : 1. Accidentally spilled a small amount of coffee (with cream). The coffee smell lingered after self-attempted cleaning 2. The windshield does not get clean after many times of Windex, still have oil/ cloudly smudge, quite frustrating. 3. Carpet mats visibly look brown and disgusting. 4. Very very dirty exterior, tires, and rims. After Unfilthify: 1. The coffee smell is completely gone. Have been driving for the past 2-3 weeks. The car has ZERO smell and is back to odorless again!!! :) 2. Front and back windshields still stay spotlessly clean, making it very easy to appreciate the beautiful scenery when driving around. 3. Carpet mats are thoroughly clean, and I can put personal belongings and groceries on the floor again and not feel gross about it anymore. 4. Brian cleaned the outside with this incredible multi-step process. The car looks so glossy and smooth by touch afterward. I couldn't even tell if the car was wet or not, the water just slides right off the car. It was Ma Gi Cal . Now the car looks cleaner compared to when they delivered new. Other nice things to mention: 1. Professional and efficient: Brian came well-prepared. His tools and supplies were neatly organized, so you know you are in good hands. 2. Friendly and thorough: Brian patiently explained his process when I had a few questions about particular steps. 3. Perfect napping place: the car was and still is spotless. Wow! Brian at Unfilthify is a miracle worker. We recently had one of our cars cleaned, and I can honestly say I've never seen whiter whites and blacker blacks on this car -- it looks better now than when we bought it new!! The paint/clear coat is smooth as silk after his work with the clay glove. He even used a filter on the hose to make sure no rogue deposits from the water supply damaged our car.
