The menu is always rotating with interesting and flavorful combinations: bechamel sauce and onion jam, figs and apples, wild mushrooms and spicy diablo sauce are all just a small sample of what I have experienced. They have a big dining area and each person is able to set up their own tab to manage their food and drink purchases. When you arrive, you get a wristband. They had a great selection of brews and I was especially impressed by a few local beers that were absolutely delicious! The pizzas are huge, so my only regret is not ordering one to share with a friend. I was able to only finish about a quarter of the small before having to call it quits. Detroit pizza is thick, so come hungry. While the pizzas were a hit, I have to say, the fries were a treat! They were so great! All in all- an excellent spot centrally located in Detroit!

It would have been helpful if the kitchen staff put the food under a salamander or heat light. If they have one of these, it certainly wasn't working that day in proper order. This is not a place I would ever go to brunch again. Maybe I would try dinner have one of their cheaper dinners as the $34 benny was overpriced and underperforming. I am giving this place three stars rather than one because the service was great unlike the food.

We recently hosted an engagement party in the private dining space, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Even though our guest count grew beyond what we initially planned, the staff handled the changes seamlessly and made sure everything ran smoothly. The setting felt intimate without being overly formal, which created the perfect atmosphere for our celebration. The food was outstanding--consistently excellent, just as we've come to expect--and our server, April, truly stood out. She was attentive, energetic, and made sure every guest was well taken care of throughout the evening. We enjoyed the space so much that we returned for Detroit Tigers Opening Day, and once again, the energy was incredible. The vibe was lively and fun, with drink stations conveniently set up around the restaurant so guests could easily grab refreshments and stay social. A lovely restaurant tucked away between the bustling Little Ceasers arena and the renowned Fox theatre. The place buzzes with excitement, especially when the local sports team is playing. But never the less, we got raw oysters, crab cakes, and Rockefeller oysters. The oysters were cleaned very well! The crab cakes tasted pretty good with all the fixings. For entree my salmon dish was spicy, fresh, seasoned well, and beautifully plated. I asked for my salmon to be cooked medium. Sadly, it came well done. As for the shrimp and lobster pasta that my fiancé ordered, the shrimp was seasoned and cooked great. UNFORTUNATELY instead of giving chunks of lobster, it was SHREDDED lobster in the pasta! I felt that was very deceiving. And without the shrimp, the pasta was VERY BLAND. I honestly have no desire to return here after such an underwhelming experience.

There was another bartender conversing with patrons standing next to my barstool and another bartender on the far end. Now, as someone with a background in food & beverage, I naturally exercise patience in casual dining atmospheres because service can be a little laxed--which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm not expecting the bartender to teleport across the room because I walked in. However, in this case, after greeting my friends, we wanted to do a round of shots in honor of the birthday girl. After several minutes, we still had not been approached by a bartender. Not to mention, the bartender conversing just to my right was STILL carrying on with the same gentlemen patrons. After a continued wait, the birthday girl decided to flag down the bartender, who acknowledged us with eye contact... ...and then continued her conversation. Ma'am. That was very unprofessional, but we were in such great spirits that we decided to overlook it and try to get the attention of a different bartender. Now, hindsight being 20/20, we should've left right then. This same bartender, standing not even 3 feet away from us, eventually finished her conversation and walked away. She actually ended up standing at the service well in plain sight of us, where she then pulled out her cellphone to devote some obviously much-needed quality screen time. We were in utter shock. Within a few moments, the bartender originally on the far end of the bar had made her way to our side to take a new set of patrons' order who had just appeared to my right. Once again, the birthday girl calls out and asks if it would be possible for her to assist us when she was done. It was obvious that the bartenders had been made aware of my grievances because their demeanors and facial expressions suddenly had a LOT to say. At that point, we realized training, support, and customer service may be an unrecognized area of opportunity by upper management. The server was busy with tables but eventually made her way over. As we sat there conversing about this unbelievable experience and discussing other bars we could go to instead, a few patrons walked up to our side of the bar to introduce themselves and ask about our plans and whether we would stick around to have a drink with them. The birthday girl, who is sweet-natured, was understandably disappointed, so I decided, you know what? We'll take a shot for the road. Everything came out hot and flavorful, and hit the spot after a long night out. If it's a busy night, expect a bit of a wait and slower service -- but the staff are really friendly and clearly doing their best. The atmosphere is lively, casual, and perfect for grabbing a bite after a concert or game. Overall, Brass Rail is a solid go-to for late-night eats in Detroit. Definitely worth checking out!

Struggle to want to like this place and give it more chances…read more Been here a few times for quick bites to eat, full dinners, or just drinks. Whether it's before a hockey game or just on a regular evening. Some nights are pretty good while others stink. The free parking for the Red Wings game is nice but the hit-and-miss food, slow service that makes you late for a game, and lack of crowd control in here makes me want to go somewhere else. It's very close to Little Caesars Arena, so I get that it will be extremely busy during game nights but other bars nearby don't cascade that overwhelmed feeling to their service and food.
