A disappointment I'm giving it a 3 star because we've had some wonderful meals here, but Friday was different. I've ordered the chicken Agrodolce several times in the past and is always remarkable. The distinct flavors of the chicken polenta onions raisins and currants all stood out individually. Not this time. For a $39 chicken dish it should be remarkable And this time it was not. My book club meets here monthly, so I've had a chance to sample a few things off the menu. I haven't enjoyed everything, but they have an octopus dish (more of an appetizer, but enough for me and my small-ish appetite) and a grilled/roasted veg platter that are very good. The wine list is also strong, with a number of good by-the-glass options. The place is spacious, clean, and nicely appointed, and the restaurant generally seems well run. We Went on a Saturday night for HH and sat on the back patio. Drinks and small plates are half price 5-7pm daily. My favorite was the crispy corn ribs. The flavor was amazing. The only reason they didn't get five stars is because my wife ordered her burger, medium well . Unfortunately, it came out rare, but she cut it in half before we took a bite. Just tried Union Kitchen & Bar and was absolutely delighted! Food and service was really good. I love a place that offers good suggestions and is very attentive. We had the pork belly tacos and deviled eggs to start - yummy! For dinner we had the pork chop, halibut, and crispy cauliflower bowl . All very good. But the dessert was the star of the show. We enjoyed homemade bourbon espresso ice cream, the chocolate cherry cake and the donuts. Excellent! They recommended a great wine and we had a wonderful night. I will definitely be back. read more

Six of us had dinner at Union Kitchen before our play at the Foundry Theatre. Three in my party consider Union to be the best restaurant around. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think the small portions and modestly high prices bring it down a notch. I had the Spinach Lumache which included braised rabbit. This pasta dish was very good, a 4 for sure. The rabbit is a nice touch. My friend had a citrus salad which was delicious but the portion was small for $17. His entree was Ricotta Ravioli which contained lobster. Again, delicious but a small portion in a tiny bowl that made it difficult to eat. ($24, lunch portion). The owner was onsite and welcomed everybody and thanked us on our exit. Having separate checks did not seem to bother our waiter. I thought it was a little odd that the waiter did not bother to push second glasses of wine or cocktails. That was fine with me because the libations were premium priced. A great, popular place but a little pricey for the portions. read more

My friends and I had a nice time here for a pre-game on a Saturday evening. They have a happy hour that ends at 7PM. Unfortunately, when we were there, the power was out. We couldn't get any food except for cocktail shrimp and oysters. For what we tried, everything was good. They shut down early that night because of the power. Luckily, they have outside seating so they accommodated us as best and as long as they could. It seems like this place would be busy if it weren't for the power outage that day. The restaurant is very cute with nice outdoor and indoor seating, and comfortable booth seating too. Loved the truffle/ mushroom pasta, the ravioli was very good too. I was surprised by the zucchini and corn fritters, so tasty/ possibly my favorite dish. And definitely glad we didn't skip dessert, the apple donuts were the perfect ending and the caramel dipping sauce was so delicious! So many vegetarian and vegan options which is great. Definitely recommend this place, all the food was so good, server told us it's locally owned, couple is Italian and Peruvian and menu reflects some of that which is great. It's a nice, casual setting. About the food- after the oysters, that were good but kinda small, I ordered the blackened Swordfish with mango salsa. I ordered sautéed spinach too. Hubby started with the Kale Salad. He then ordered Broiled Fluke with spinach. We were enjoying everything!!! I got full but hubby has a sweet tooth! He ordered something with pumpkin & churros. It has a super nice bar and both an outdoor patio along with an indoor covered and uncovered patio. Foodwise, it's rather unique in serving what it terms to be Modern American Cuisine. It's a husband-and-wife team with the husband having been born in Northern Italy and the wife in Peru. Both have a passion for food and each has managed to incorporate the culinary techniques of their respective backgrounds into the dishes they serve. They also concentrate on local foods with their menu changing seasonally, which menus always contain some unique items you wouldn't have at home like SPINACH TAGLIATELLE WITH BRAISED RABBIT peas, carrots, and thyme or SQUID INKLUMACHE WITH CRAB white wine, butter, lemon, bread crumbs, and herbs. On one dining occasion, I had their PORCINI CAMPANELLE done with wild mushrooms, peas, spinach, fresh herbs, and truffle cream. The pasta itself was handmade, had the perfect texture, and was a truly delicious culinary delight. Most recently I came for dinner, sat at the bar, had a couple of very good drinks, and chatted with their friendly and attentive bartender. For my meal, I ordered their GRILLED FLAT IRON STEAK rare with chimichurri and an herb crème fraiche. It was a total disappointment when it arrived, being well done, not rare, and with some seasoning that didn't even come close to any chimichurri sauce I've ever encountered. It really wasn't very good at all. I've also been there at other times. At those times, without getting into details, what I had was good, but at other times not very good. I made a reservation to sit in the front patio area but due to the pouring rain we sat at the back bar. The back patio is really nice it's covered and a great outdoor space I've heard really good things about the chef and was excited to try this place. Surprisingly they do have happy hour six nights a week from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the bars and front patio. I ordered the grilled octopus which comes with two sauces, pea puree and chimichurri and crispy potatoes. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were great. They have on their menu four choices of homemade pasta so I had to try one of those since I love homemade pasta. I went with the spinach tagliatelle with braised rabbit. It's served in a bowl and the sauce is a little soupy. It is definitely a unique sauce and very fresh. I enjoyed it but it's not a dish I would order again. We saw that the couple next to us was eating something that we weren't sure what it was so we asked, it was a special, caviar. Our waitress forgot to mention it to us Was too full for dessert however look forward to coming back to try their ricotta Donuts served with orange marmalade and chocolate sauce. read more
