We discussed what we wanted and he also gave us some helpful opinions on what would look good on our property. We also discussed an appropriate budget for the work that we wanted - straight to the point, very professional, no beating around the bush! Later on, Bryce sent us a detailed quote of the artificial grass that we wanted to put in and the drought tolerant plants that we wanted in the backyard and frontyard. Once we agreed on the scope of work, we signed the contract and scheduled with Bryce when they would start the work. On the first day of work, they sent like 6-8 guys to demo the backyard! They were very punctual and worked really hard! By day 3, they were about 90% done with our project! Throughout the entire process, Bryce did an excellent job with keeping us informed of the progress via text. He was very responsive and answered any questions that we had in a timely fashion. He was also super knowledgeable about plants! At the end of the project, we did a final walkthrough of the frontyard and backyard, and the artificial grass, drought tolerant plants, and pea gravel looked perfect! They tried to clear the drains, but because they were so clogged, their equipment failed. Again, I was setting up the pumps during the rain storm. So, I researched and found Joel and Sons. We hired them for a full backyard Reno with full wall of ficus trees, full DG backyard with gravel edges, and a wood fence. Everything was going smoothly with scheduling and communication. When the actual work got started, I noticed the DG was not high-quality. It contained a lot of large rocks. Also, they were not digging out enough dirt before laying the DG. I had to bring that up to the foreman and they did dig up some more dirt before laying the DG. When the work was done, a foreman did a quick walk-through with me and I thought everything looked good. We were told not to walk on the wet DG for a day or two. So two days later when I did a better inspection, I started to notice a lot of shotty work. Specifically with the bender board dividing the gravel and I noticed that they used really small nails for the wooden fence. They did come back a month later to fix the DG because there were areas that were "bouncy", as if not enough DG was laid down. They had to dig up big rocks that were preventing the DG from compacting and they laid more DG on some areas. They also tried to fix some bender board problems, but they did a really horrible job. Three months later, some wood planks on our wood fence start curving and popping up. I called the company because our DG and our fence are under a year warranty. Jake asked me to email him with photos and he said he would call back to schedule a day for repair. Since then I have not heard back from them; they have completely ghosted me. I waited a month then I started calling and no one will pick up the phone. I've left messages and I sent text messages to project manager, Amanda, who was great at communication at first, but now has completely ghosted me as well. Meanwhile, we're still paying monthly for this backyard that is falling apart way too quickly. I'm going to just hire someone to fix the fence before it damages further. I would not recommend them again. Completely overpriced for what you get.

We contacted Artscape and from the get-go, Ben responded promptly. Ben asked us to fill out a landscape needs/wants questionnaire which provided him with a general idea of our vision. My wife wanted more of a succulent dominant landscape whereas I wanted more color and plant textures. Ben spent a considerable time incorporating our thoughts into a cohesive plan and a landscape design to fit our topography and climate. This was a dynamic process with a lot of communication. With our budget in mind, Ben provided alternative plant choices and explained the reasoning in a thoughtful, kind, and professional manner. Ben is an excellent communicator and designer. Once we agreed on the plan, Oscar and Melvin completed the installation. They were always on time, worked tirelessly and surpassed our expectations of professionalism. We received status updates at each milestone and were informed on what work was to take place leading to the next milestone. During the install, they found some leaks in our irrigation system and fixed the leaks. Oscar went above and beyond to help us find and install a modern sprinkler monitoring system which is working wonderfully. We love our new front landscape and updated backyard landscape. They installed a new lawn, TimberTech deck, native plants, irrigation and drainage, lighting, and tied our existing front-yard irrigation into the new system. The design process was easy and affordable, and Jonathan was on site every day. He was communicative, thoughtful, and paid attention to the little details throughout the project. The whole crew was great to have around and kept everything clean at the end of each day. They even did a thorough final cleanup of the windows and doors around the yard. What we appreciated most was that their care didn't stop once the project was finished. They came back to fix a faulty sprinkler head and later trenched along the grass by the deck when we realized skunks were trying to get underneath.
