I've been here a few times, but it's always a hit-or-miss experience. Most of the nail technicians seem rushed and grumpy. I got this manicure just a few hours ago, and it's honestly one of the worst I've had -- the technician spent barely 10 minutes on it, and I had to ask her to redo my cuticles because they weren't trimmed properly. Then, another technician came over and directly asked if I had tipped. I had some cash in my pocket, which she took very aggressively(since my nails were still wet) without even a thank you. Horrible experience! Save your money and go somewhere else -- this place seriously needs to rethink its service and attitude. read more

Just because I didn't have a major incident like my two friends did, doesn't make it ok for you to expect a raving review. This was a group outing for us, enthused for a great time together. Just had to come on and report the great service and awesome hospitality that we received at Union Nails. On Vacation from Brooklyn, NY we came upon this salon after a long day of walking and decided to rest with a pedicure my sister and nephew a manicure. Jenny greeted us so warmly and we didn't have appointments but saw us right away. 1st best quality pedicure and manicures that we have gotten in a while. The ladies went to work and did a great job. Okay this review is a longgg time coming but I had to make sure I was fully out of SF before I put you all on to Union Nails (had to make sure I could book an appointment). I absolutely love the women here. They are all wonderful at what they do. From March 2022 to October 2024 I was LOYAL to Vivian (sns mani) and Cindy (pedi) and Sophia (designs). They all did a phenomenal job. Vivian was consistently able to get my nails the right shape. Cindy gives the best pedicures/massages and she really helped me with my poor ingrowns, like worked actual miracles (gross I know). Sophia is a design pro. Oh also, I used to take my boyfriend/fiancé/now husband to Union nails and he always had a great experience too. So bring yaaa man gals. Any ways, amazing work, wonderful ladies. I don't usually write reviews that are negative. But overall, I did not have a good experience. The quality is really bad and my nails are all different sizes and are not lumpy. I also got cut so it burned when she put the acrylic. my French tips are all different sizes. Unfortunately my pedicure was $75 and she did the bare minimum. There was no type of cream or moisturizer put on my foot, scrub, mask, etc. she didn't use a pumice stone either. The nail polish on my toes is super thick and un even. What really turned me off was them being sggressibe about a Tip. She asks me for a tip and does not let me pay my bill until I give one. Which I didn't feel like they deserved one. I was going to tip but just wanted to on my card. I stood there for five minutes trying to pay for my bill. She asked me to get money out the ATM so I could tip. We kept going back-and-forth until I finally gave in so that way I could leave.It then took another five minutes for her to get change. She stopped everybody and what they were doing to give her change. It's just rude and I felt like they were holding me hostage. I will never go back. read more

Hostile. Nail technicians yell at you when you don't sit right. Not a relaxing atmosphere. While getting gel x, I was turned side ways to get my feet done in a pan of water. I was confused why wasn't seated in a massage chair. Horrible, uncomfortable experience! read more

So so bad :( wanted to prove those negative reviews wrong but they weren't kidding. Went in to just get my gel nails removed only, and they were so rough with filing, didn't ask for shape or length preferences, just went ahead and started clipping. So close to the nail bed it was painful. Had to ask her to reshape and smooth out so many rough and unfinished patches. Then came home to just finish it off myself because it was so bad... and I'm still left with residue that they just did not remove. I wish I could say more positive things about this place and did want to like it. Would not recommend for any kind of removal. read more

I'm not sure if it was the nail tech I got every time I've been or what, but my nails never look right after I leave this salon. I always have to fight to get what I asked for, and half the time they don't listen anyway. Last time I was here, I asked to get my gel extensions removed and a plain gel manicure applied. Instead, she kept my extensions on, applied a gel base coat over them for the gel manicure (which she charged me $75 for claiming it was builder gel, which it wasn't), and used regular top coat and claimed it would cure just like gel (it didn't). I also was not consulted for the shape or length of my nails, those were details I had to argue for control over. I walked out saying thank you and tipping them, but I think I've tried this salon enough to finally put it to bed. Not worth the price point, it's cheap for a reason (and too much money for the actual quality you get). read more

As someone who has tried many different nail salons, this one has become my favorite and earned my loyalty. My most recent visit prompted this review, specifically with Sophie. Sophie is the only person I trust to take care of my nails. She is very detail oriented and open to feedback or new ideas. I wanted chrome french tip nails, which she had never done before. Instead of telling me no, she watched Youtube videos to learn the technique and did a fantastic job! I had a bad and stressful experience here and I feel the least they could have done was take $20 off the cost, but at the cash register she rang me up $94 which is outrageous for my experience and the quality. Then when I presented my card she gave me a look and said "you have cash for tip right?" which further infuriated me. The lack of customer appreciation is shocking. They do not know how to do chrome nails. They messed up my nails, resulting in an ugly dark blue color. It was unacceptable. They offered to re-do them. Ok great. It then became very stressful as they all gathered around me talking about the situation in a different language which I could not understand so I had no idea what was going on and what they were saying. Then they seem agitated and became rushed in doing my nails. There were two technicians working on my nails furiously and one telling the other what to do and to hurry up. Finally they put one coat on of a light pearl color, rubbed some chrome dust, and considered it a proper nail job to charge me the full price. Then gave me a snickering comment about a tip. This has definitely been my worst experience at a nail salon. Also, some random man came in and sat in the chair next to me and chatted with them the whole time. Clearly they know him but it was very awkward and uncomfortable for me. Was hoping to be a long time customer since this place is close by me but I cannot fathom going back after my experience and crappy excuse for chrome nails. read more

Came in for gel polish removal and a manicure. The technician working on me was rough and careless. I was knicked and started bleeding during gel removal. Then, my nail that was slightly broken was cut off without asking. My nail was left jagged and was cut to the skin, exposing the layer underneath which was painful. After this, my confidence was lost and I asked to pay for the removal only and skip the rest of the manicure. 1 star for injuring my nail. read more

Bad customer service and one of the technicians Rosie manhandled my hands when removing gelx. She clearly does not know how to perform the removal and they charged me $20. My nails look so damaged. I still have some acrylic on my nails. I would not recommend this nail salon and I will not be returning for any service. By far one of the worst nail salon experiences. Go to Green nail salon for a way better experience. At least they take care of your nails at Green salon. read more

Do not recommend. Well...not my first time having a poor experience here at Union Nails. I have lived in neighborhood over 10yrs. I do not enjoy writing bad reviews as a business owner, but these ladies need to improve a lot in their customer service! I came in on Monday night and only one customer in there. Two ladies started my service for a gel manicure & pedicure. I made a quick jaunt to the bathroom. Then two customers came in the door and the manicurist completely abandoned my manicure to help the other girl without even saying a word to me! You literally have to fill in the blanks here, because no one communicates anything to you! I ask so I have to wait now for a gel manicure? And the nail tech saids, " unapologetically saids you went to bathroom. So I have to wait when I was here first? Answer: yes!!! I request to look at gel colors and don't even get to look when those customers arrived after me! The lady doing my pedicure then proceeded to text on her phone in back. In the middle of my pedicure she completely stops and goes to the back to talk on her cellphone in the middle of my service. Unfortunately, I walked out because this absolutely the most unacceptable and unprofessional treatment. There a few nice technicians here but overall the customer service is horrible! Went down the street to have most magnificent hand & nail spa treatment. Best customer service and hand massage! Look elsewhere if you want feel good experience. read more

I've had manicures and pedicures done here on and off throughout the years, but hadn't been here in a long time. I recently went for a pedicure. I went there because I liked the comfort of their pedicure chairs with the tub in the perfect position. There was nothing particularly good or bad about the pedicure. I didn't see any signs posted with prices so when I was done, asked price and was surprised they are higher in price than most salons. Not sure if the $7 difference is worth going to that shop vs. any other (for me, anyway). However, if you're in that neighborhood and want a mani/pedi, it's a clean shop. read more
