Boniva nail spa is the best place to get your nails done in the city. I've only come for a gel manicure, but my gosh I was shocked by how good they are! I've had Anna and Uni and they're both so funny and sweet. I've never had so many compliments about just a simple manicure!! They are so precise and my nails come out perfect every time. They literally look like a Russian manicure! I highly recommend Boniva! It's a bit expensive but so worth it! read more

The ladies here were really thorough and detailed with my pedicure! They did an amazing job, and they weren't pushy, and were very warm and welcoming! They even offered us complimentary tea and then gave it to us with a Madeline. I recommend making an appointment if possible just so they can know to expect you. I called morning of, and got an appointment and when I arrived they already had all the stations set up for us, and knew that me and my friend had come for our 1pm pedicure appointment. I'm just getting started but so far they immediately greeted us with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. Upon being sat (3 of us) they offered us hot tea! Boniva is the absolutely best nail salon! Every time I try somewhere different, it's not close to the outcome I get from boniva. My nails always last such a long time (3+ weeks which is great for my nails) and you can tell they care about their clients and about doing a good job. She hand drew the hearts and the bows and I couldn't be happier with the outcome and treatment I received! 10/10 recommend, so worth it read more

When I sat down in the chair, I specifically told the person doing my nails that I had not gotten a pedicure in awhile (6 months actually) since the last time I got one, they cut the sides of my toenails and I got such bad ingrowns and my nails literally split from how bad they were. I had to grow them out for that long and had not touched them so my right toenail was a little uneven from the split. She said Ok and said she would be careful. She asked if she could cut just the top of the nail to make it even and square. I said yes, and then repeated that I did NOT want anything on the sides of my toes touched. Despite MULTIPLE times telling her that, she took it upon herself to "clean up" the sides of my big toenails by cutting them at a 45° angle.... the EXACT thing that the previous salon did that absolutely destroyed my nails. When I realized, I asked her, and she tried to defend herself while lying multiple times. She had the audacity to say 1. My nails were already like that, then changed her story to 2. That she was "cutting away" the excess nail polish she had put on away". And then again changed her story to 3. That she actually didn't cut them at all and didn't know what I was talking about. I then said, no you absolutely cut them, why would you cut the inside of the nail when I SPECIFICALLY said at least 2-3 times not to? She replied with, well they're already cut, I can't do anything now. AND THEN TRIED TO CUT THE SIDES AGAIN MORE SAYING SHE WAS TRYING TO FIX IT. I literally had to push her hand away and say "absolutely not, please stop touching my nail." When I walked in, I asked for 2 coats funny bunny, 1 coat bubble bath. Well, 7 coats later and her saying bubble bath wouldn't look very good. I had to accept that my nails were just not going to look acceptable at al. You can actually still see the brush strokes of the polish... AFTER 7 COATS!! It was absolutely absurd how they could not achieve a simple combination that is by far the most popular nail polish combo right now. After she said she was done, I paid, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was on the bridge of tears knowing how long it had taken me to recover from my previous nail fiasco and how long it was going to take to recover from this. I am getting married in August and honestly so sad that my nails might still be affected by this. When I got home, I burst into tears and couldn't believe the state of my nails. After more inspection, I realized she DIDN'T EVEN PAINT MY RIGHT PINKY TOE!!!! I am going to a wedding abroad on Wednesday, so as you can imagine, I was pissed. I had to file down some of my other nails because they were shaped so badly. My big toes don't even look the same shape. I walked back into the store before a dinner reservation and asked for a refund. She asked me to take off my shoes so she could inspect my toes. I told her what had happened and that my pinky toe wasn't even painted. She said she couldn't offer me a refund, just a gift certificate since the service was completed. I responded with... well not really cause my toe was not painted and she specifically did something I asked her not to do. I didn't even mention how bad the nail polish application was since I thought it was pretty fricken apparent and had an uber waiting. I ended up taking the gift certificate since I was in a hurry, and they said I could come back to get them redone and there would be a different person there to do them. I don't know why they would think I would EVER go back there again, but I will be filing a dispute with my CC company. So sad since I had been here multiple times before and live down the street. Would NOT recommend.

However, my last visit left me a little disappointed because while it was extremely relaxing and the service was great, I'm not so happy with how my actual nails turned out :-( I did the Volcano Spa service for both my pedicure and manicure which were absolutely lovely, along with gel remove and gel on both my fingers and toes. The 10 minutes of massage for both were so nice, especially the shoulders and upper back that came with the manicure. But during the gel remove, the gel on my fingers was removed with the drill. It was the same on my toes but I don't have an issue there. Normally I wouldn't mind, but my natural fingernails were drilled down so thin that even though I cut my nails short, they're ripping at the ends with normal daily wear and tear. I went on Saturday morning and I've had two nails rip at the ends already and it is only Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if it was because I came in with long nails already (imagine asking for a medium-long set) and they may have been mistaken for gel-x or something of the sort, but it was just my natural nails with gel on top. I can even feel on all of my fingernails just how thin they were drilled down because suddenly all my nails are very flimsy, even with several gel coats on top. The rest of the service and experience were great, so it's a bit disappointing to feel like I regret how much I paid because of how weak my fingernails became after this appointment. Regardless I would still return in the future if I want the pampering experience, but if I can do without the massage and just need my nails done I may choose another salon instead. Just something to note if you're someone who is worried about your nail strength. UPDATE 8/4 9:48PM: Another nail ripped pretty far down just from scratching my head :-(

A very tasteful, custom design for an 11 y.o. They lasted almost 4 weeks but finally time to take them off. We made an appt for 2:30 today and due to Jenny not getting the message we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. Not the biggest deal, really nice out and our favorite boba spot just a few blocks down Polk St. When we got back the other woman in the shop started taking off the gels, they were taking a while to saturate enough to fully remove so the cotton with acetone and foil had to stay on longer. My daughter's fingers started burning and when we let them know, Jenny prompted the other woman to take a look. Not ready yet so while the owner was finishing up with another client this other woman needed to take care of it. At one point a customer had to ask this other woman to help my daughter, that she would kindly wait. It took over an hour to remove and clean up her nails, no manicure after. Two hours later my daughter's poor fingers are still burning. Jenny was quite apologetic and adjusted the price as a courtesy. We love Jenny but maybe she needs some more support in her shop.

Boniva Nail Spa is the only place I trust to do my manicures and pedicures in the city. I moved to the city about 8 months ago and after trying two different salons in North Beach I stumbled into Boniva for a 9-1-1 manicure. The owner Michelle was very sympathetic with my abused nails (after 6 months of seeing her every 3 weeks she knows how anal I am about my nails) and set me up with one of her manicurist Daisy. From the moment I sat in the chair to the last brush stroke on my finger nail the staff was always attentive. I left with a very clean and well polished set of nails with a smile plastered on my face. Usually my gel manicures last for 2 weeks, if that. The gel manicures at Boniva last me 3 weeks and thats just me going in because of the nail growth not because of any chipping. For the extremely reasonable price they charge (about $30 for gel mani) there is no place better than Boniva. The owner Michelle brings a community vibe to her spa greeting everyone with open arms and making sure everyone is satisfied. Her husband, one of the warmest and friendliest gentlemen I've met, even comes in to help out some time which makes me feel like family. The spa is kept at the cleanest levels which is of utmost importance. I can honestly say I don't have one bad thing to say about Boniva. Get your nails done here and book an appointment to ensure a beautiful set of nails. read more

i went to this salon a few months ago and had a pretty good experience but now i am very disappointed! I came to get a gel fill and it looks terrible! There are LARGE bumps and you can clearly tell where the previous nail set was and the new product. They didn't even use the right product! They should have used builder gel but instead they just used regular gel nail polish!!!! They gave us water and a cookie but that doesn't even matter because the service was so bad. It genuinely took them sooooo long to do them too. The last time i came here it took an hour and i got the same exact service! Then they had the audacity to ask me to pay $75!!!!! I ended up only paying fifty because i couldn't even bring myself to pay so much for horrible nails!! I literally left the salon in tears. Once i expressed how disappointed i was they did defensive and rude. Do not come to this salon unless you want to be severely disappointed! I REPEAT DO NOT COME TO THIS SALON!!! read more

I've known Michelle thru a referral over a year ago and since then she's been my favorite manicurist. I've lots of choices in between Fremont and San Francisco, but I've chosen to go to her for my manicure and pedicure because of her easy going personality, attentiveness and cleanliness. I'm so pleased that she has her own salon now and was there a few days ago. The service there was super. Served me a hot cup of tea in a cold day was very appreciated. It's a very comfy place with plenty of parking. Well, Michele, I'm hooked. I don't mind driving one and half hour from Fremont to see you. It's well worth after seeing my neat and clean gel nail. I can't say enough good things about this salon! I came in after having a terrible experience at another nail salon earlier in the day - my nails were so badly done that I was embarrassed to even show them. This salon was so kind and understanding. They got me in immediately, completely fixed my nails, and made them look absolutely amazing. Everyone here is so welcoming, patient, and talented. This place is the best nail salon I found in San Francisco. It is super friendly, nice, clean and professional. Everybody is doing an amazing job. The cleanest and the most beautiful manicure and pedicure! Every time when I come to Boniva salon it's all very organized and people are ready for you. Michelle is the best in the Marina!! She opened in December on Lombard and Buchanan. Fresh and new salon with just the right ambiance for a day spa. Serene and soothing music to calm anyone's sirit. I get the regular mani and pedi and it lasts close to 3 weeks! Mainly because Michelle pays close attention to the details and takes her time. I chose boniva for my first mani/pedi in SF because it had the highest rating on yelp and I was not disappointed. I had a gel mani and regular pedi for 53 dollars, which I thought was a very fair price. They even promise to fix your gel for free if it chips within a week (I don't foresee that happening though since they did such a great job). The store is immaculate and the nail technicians are absolute perfectionists in the best way. Kaylen did my pedi and daisy did my mani both of whom I highly recommend. By far the best nail salon I've been too in years!!!! I've been going to Boniva Nail Salon for about 6 months now and my nails are super healthy.. With me being a hairstylist my hands are constantly in water which would cause my nails to always crack and peel.. (Not Cool!) But thanks to Michelle and her girls my nails healthy and strong. I was so impressed with how clean and meticulous everything about this place was! Michelle did an excellent job on my gel mani and the pedicure was wonderful. I especially enjoyed the hot stones they used during the foot massage. I came right after leaving the gym and they sent me home with real flip flops - not those flimsy ones used elsewhere. Was looking to get Gel X done for my wedding and so glad I came to Michelle. She put so much attention into my nails and made sure they were absolutely perfect from the color to the length. The Gel X wasn't too thick, which has been an issue for me at other places. I also got a regular pedicure and they shaped my toenails exactly how I wanted them. Michelle has magical contacts! I could never grow my nails, until Michelle started doing it. Having done my nails for over 25 years, Boniva Nail Spa is the first salon in all of San Francisco to help keep my nails long and healthy. Boniva's staff is great and their customer service is excellent. I never have to wait more than 5 minutes for service to start. Michelle runs the BEST nail salon in SF. I've lived here for 3 years and have never gone anywhere else. Michelle and her husband and their staff do an incredible job - so knowledgeable, exceptional service and their shellac manicures last up to 3 full weeks. It was my first going here & i rarely get my nails done but since i'm going to vegas next weekend, i decided to try it out. I got greeted and sat as soon as i walked in and they offered if i wanted hot tea or water & paired it with the Madeline!
