We absolutely adored this resturant. We found it from CSR's list of OpenTable restaurants. But if we were locals, we'd absolutely be here often. The food tasted so fresh and delicious and the staff was friendly. It felt like home.

We had brunch here on a Saturday morning. I highly recommend making reservations. Our server was wonderful and was great about checking in. The tables were all very close together making things a bit cozy. I had the quiche of the day. I would not recommend this or get it again. The quiche was very dry and had no flavor. If we go back, I will try something different.

Great menu and atmosphere! This was my second time here and I'll be coming back again for sure. Highly recommend the gnocchi, steak au poivre, and egg plant fries. I'm normally a meat & potatoes type person, but I think their gnocchi is absolutely amazing. Came here for a birthday, and they ensure to make it an occasion with exceptional service and special treats. They also have regular sales and specials. I would've taken more photos......but that thought was lost once the food was sat on the table.

Finally made my way here. What a cozy but airy place. Staff was attentive and friendly. Good was good. I had the chorizo burrito and a vanilla Italian soda (very delicious). Excuse the. Lack of photos. We sat down, chatted, and ate before I remembered to snap. You can eat breakfast or lunch all day....well until 3 PM. I will be back.

We met our friends here for dinner. They are 30+ year residents and live by the Plaza. They had never heard of Room 39, which been in my Yelp bookmarks for over a year. We were going to a show at MTH and decided to meet here for dinner beforehand. We snagged at 5 PM reservation a few days before and were greeted warmly on a hot summer afternoon by the host. Our server was Alex and she was magnificent beyond words. Her service and insight were magical. With the deft touch, she guided us through the menu and answered all of our questions. We will most certainly ask for Alex when we return. You may wish to do the same. You will not be disappointed. We had some delicious appetizers, including their tasty crabcakes, and the Room 39 salad was nice. Very fresh ingredients and not swimming and dressing. My wife had the steak au poivre, which I got a few bites of and it was delicious! I had the gnocchi with pesto cream sauce, which was divine. One of our friends enjoyed the pasta carbonara very much, and her husband loved the halibut. They shared crème brûlée for dessert and we had the chocolate mousse. All four of us loved our desserts. We recognize that Room 39 is on par with some of the finest restaurants in Kansas City. It's a smaller venue, but their service is impeccable and so is the food. It's a farm to table restaurant so the menu rotates and changes with the seasons and availability of ingredients. I love that! We will most certainly return.

Loved this place! We decided to try Room 39 based on other reviews we read. It was well worth it. The atmosphere is romantic but relaxing. My wife loved the table settings. The service was very good. Very friendly and attentive. We both had the filet with scalloped potatoes and brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The scalloped potatoes were the best I've ever had. I can't believe it took us so long to try this place, but it won't be the last.

Dining in this local spot which was popping. Started off good with our order taking promptly. My mimosa landed shortly thereafter and it was delicious. We waited patiently before noticing another table whom arrived after us getting served first with same entrees. Then ours came out : avocado toast & fruit cup and crab Benedict with side of potatoes - lukewarm. The toast was grilled a bit too long where it was tough and burned around the edges. My order was incorrect as I asked for over medium eggs vs poached. The waiters were all apologetic and offered new eggs and toast but we declined. It was already a long wait. Prevalent in my dish was panko breading of the crab cakes. The potatoes had a grill taste not much flavor either. We were grateful for the offering to correct things, comping the avocado toast and OJ upon getting our bill.

We were looking for somewhere different for brunch. Not the hotel or a chain. Somewhere in a neighborhood with a great vibe...we found it at Room 39. My daughter and I enjoyed lattes, oh my goodness good mimosas, and incredible salmon scramble (sod, delicate, with crispy potatoes) and a salmon salad (crispy skin, local cheese, quinoa.) Our server Maggie made it the funnest experience...she is just lovely.

Breakfast is amazing. Definitely will be back. Service was so good. Ted and Anthony are awesome. The coffee is a custom brew and every dish on the menu has been chosen with attention and purpose.

Best breakfast potatoes in Kansas City. Also great value for the money. Lovely atmosphere.

Came in on a slow Monday night and had exceptional service and food! I can't believe we haven't been here before! We ordered the brussel sorout toast and it was so yummy. The flavors went really well together. I stepped out of the box and got the Chorizo Crusted Cod and it did not disappoint! My husband got the steak (sirloin maybe? I have no idea lol) and it was cooked to his preference which is always important to us. The dessert was fun and funky. Only disappointment was the menu being a little different than the one online so I wasn't able to get something that sounded really good, but that didn't ruin anything and we just opted for something else! The price was very fair for the quality of food and service we received.

The chairs are incredibly comfortable, exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Great wine selection, and the cocktails were excellent. We started with the spinach artichoke dip -- a little on the creamy side, which is a good thing if you like it that way. Served with tortilla chips. I ordered the octopus appetizer as my main. It was perfectly cooked -- slightly crispy without being overdone, which is rare for octopus. The potatoes underneath were a touch underdone for my taste, but the sauce tied everything together nicely. The shrimp and grits were outstanding. The grits were cooked perfectly -- having spent a lot of time in the South, I know good grits when I taste them. The shrimp was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but the real star was the sauce. My friend said it was described as an avocado sauce, but it had a spicy kick that reminded me almost of Indian food. Service was outstanding. We started with the Mini Cheddar Biscuits to share, which come with four biscuits. They were excellent--fluffy on the inside with a slightly crispy exterior. The cheddar flavor hit first, followed by a touch of sweetness from the honey, and the combination worked really well. For my meal, I ordered the Fried Chicken, substituted the mashed potatoes for mac and cheese, and added a side of collard greens. The fried chicken was absolutely amazing, perfectly seasoned and fried. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and cheesy with a nice crunch from the breadcrumb topping. The collard greens were some of the best I've ever had. They had a great smoky flavor and were well-seasoned without being overly salty. The only downside to the experience was the service toward the end of our meal. We sat for around 15 minutes waiting for the bartender to come by so we could get drink refills and the check. We eventually had to wave them down, even though they were working right in front of us. Overall, the food was outstanding and easily made up for the minor service issue. I'll definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

He smiled and said half price wine! Our server was attentive, but he ordered the food all together instead of coursing it out. I should have asked for half of mine to come out early as we were sharing. The tacos were ok, good flavor, but basic presentation. The Fries were delicious, the Brussels and Cauliflower were awesome. The Hawaiian Ribeye was also good, cooked perfectly, good flavor, but the chilled cucumber salad on a warm plate was an interesting choice... They were clearly short staffed. Felt bad for her. She came over, apologized, and took our drink orders. The adults had coffee and the younger ones had water and lemonade. Our coffee was warm. Not hot, just warm. We ordered the cinnamon roll and the goat cheese sampler. Boith were tasty. For our meals, I ordered the Rye Breakfast with over medium eggs. For those that don't know, over medium is a fine line between runny yolk and cooked all the way yolk. My eggs were basically over easy. Check the picture. It was yolk all through the plate. My gravy was cold and the biscuit was hard as a rock. The only thing I ate was the bacon from my meal. My hash brown tasted like oil and was hard and cold. My kids didn't like their pancakes. The oldest said it was too doughy and was cold. I also asked for no oranges on top but, they both had oranges. The youngest one just didn't eat it at all after one bite. Hubs meal was also cold. Again, our waitstaff was doing the best she could being they were so short on staff. We won't be back though.

Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. That should be a centerpiece, and it was disappointing. There was one broccolini dish that the sign said was with lemon butter and cotija cheese, but appeared to be just steamed broccolini with absolutely no seasoning. I asked and was told they wanted to keep it vegan, but..... seriously, no salt? Pepper? Oil? Apparently not, just sad, plain broccolini. They did at least white out the accompaniments on the sign to correct themselves, so that's something I guess, but you really do expect something better from an establishment like this. The server was attentive to our drinks- the brunch was bottomless- but hard to find to get the check. The biggest weak spot both years has been the dessert table. There were perhaps five small desserts on a small cocktail table. Really not what you'd expect. The bacon was pretty good, however, you often find a lot of undercooked bacon on buffets. One conspicuously good thing is that, unlike so many other places on Easter, the tables were spaced well apart. Many places will pack the diners in like sardines, and this was not the case here- we had ample room to move about. Altogether, Grand Street needs to step it up for Easter Brunch. There just wasn't really anything special about it, and some elements were very much lacking. It didn't feel like a brunch you go to in celebration, which in my opinion an Easter brunch should. Nothing stood out, it was fairly plain [including decor] and it just needed MORE.

We could see the top floor of a garage. Steak medallions with potatoes were delicious. My husband had the crusted pork chops and will order that item again. Selena was a wonderful server along with others who assisted her. We plan to visit the same location in a few weeks.

Everyone needs to know and go immediately! The price point is amazing and better than their lunch or dinner prices. Everything tasted delicious, and they offer a five dollar breakfast sangria or mimosa- perfection!! I ordered the steak and eggs that comes with Shrimp Oscar, and I had the chili crisp hollandaise served on the side and subbed fruit for the potatoes- it was FANTASTIC. The hollandaise made a delightful dipping sauce. My friend had the eggs any way entree and loved it too. Their breakfast potatoes are delicious and not your standard breakfast potatoes-- more of a smashed, fried, with garlic kind of concept. We also celebrated her birthday which they brought out two free truffles for!

The lemon cream french toast with the warm blueberry compote is what brought me here. I've had it both times, and I have been extremely happy and completely finished my food both times. The service has always been prompt, attentive, and friendly. I really enjoyed watching the interactions between the staff and the local regulars, and the other patrons have always been very kind to have friendly conversation with me at the bar. When I realized I had a chance to stop through Kansas City again at the last minute this past Friday, I remembered this place from my visit a year ago, and I was very excited to return. The consistency in the amazing food, the service, and the overall experience speaks volumes. Absolutely love this place and will always stop here when I'm in town.

We had a large party of 10 as a walk in and were able to get seated in about 20 min on a Saturday for late brunch. Got the shakshouka --but it wasn't really the right dish. They fried two eggs over medium and poured a tomato sauce over. I definitely would have ordered something different had I known it wasn't going to be authentic. Yummy enough, but the portion was small with the fruit. Would definitely come back again to try other entrees.
