Had an awesome experience at Union Roasters on our way back to Seattle recently. The staff/owners were super personable and you can tell how much they care about providing a great experience for customers. My boyfriend and I each had house made muffins (lemon blueberry and a morning glory) which were fabulous. Next time we are in Couer d'Alene we will definitely be coming back for one of their waffles. Highly recommend these guys if you're looking for a cool space to grab coffee and a healthy (or not) bite to eat! read more

I am all about local coffee shops, and this one is splendid. I'm a loyal fan of both Calypso's and Java in the CDA area, but it was a wonder when I spotted the Grumpy Monkey yesterday while driving down 4th street. I came back the next day and tried a hemp milk latte (TRY IT, amazing!), and my mom got a drip coffee and pecan bar, both wonderful. This place is unreal and I am so glad I found it so fast when I first moved to Cda! There is no better coffee in Northern Idaho, there just isn't! The baked goods are made from the heart, and I am telling you again... THE COFFEE! You won't have any friendlier service than you do here. Last week, we missed our return flight home so we stayed an extra night in Coeur d'Alene, ID. My son took us to try some ice cream at Abi's. Let's just say ... I'm glad we missed the plane! The ice cream tasted so good because it was so creamy! The gal was super-friendly on this particular Sunday afternoon in May. She allowed us to try a few different flavors. I had 2 scoops; Malted Vanilla Toffee Chocolate Chip and Oreo Latte. Dee-licious!! My sons each had 2 ice cream scoops as well. I can't believe it took me this long, to try out Grumpy Monkey! I ordered an Americano and a croissant sandwich, with egg, turkey and cheese. The croissant tasted fresh and was nicely toasted and flaky and there was a generous portion of turkey. The egg patty was cold, but the girl behind the counter warmed it up perfectly for me, when I mentioned it. The coffee in my Americano, wasn't amazing, but it was very good. I would probably order a latte or something, next time. I wouldn't change a thing about the atmosphere; it has a great vibe. My husband and I came here for breakfast while we were in town and we were not disappointed. My husband had the chorizo burrito and I had the lemon raspberry waffle. Both super yummy! My hot lemon vanilla latte/espresso was good- had lemon peel in it. But my husbands Pina Colada (maybe it was pineapple) cold brew was EXCELLENT! Great Coffee. Great Staff. Great Atmosphere. Accidentally stumbled upon this place when I was driving through Coeur D'Alene last summer. My wife and I tried it and it totally felt like somewhere out of Seattle (minus the pouring rain outside), which made it feel like home. The inside of the shop has a great, clean, sleek design and there's lots of seating available. My wife ordered a Hemp milk latte and loved it and I ordered a Guatemala pour over and it was pretty great. Another thing that's awesome is that they cook their own waffles and pastries, so the inside of the shop smells incredible! One of the many great coffee shops in Easter Washington/North Idaho. Probably the longest I have ever sat and waited for an espresso based drink to be made. 8 oz. standard mocha was okay.....not bitter or burnt but a tad weak? Okay, I thought that I already had a favorite coffee place in CDA. My wife and I visited here twice and was delighted both times. I home-roast my own coffee so I am a bit picky and I must say that these guys really know coffee...unlike so many others. They roast their own coffee and do it in such a way that you can taste the flavor of the beans and not have to load up on cream and other flavors, if you don't want to. I was particularly impressed with their cold brew without ice. It was so smooth that I didn't even need cream, and that is rare for me. The owner told me that for cold brew, they roast specific beans in a special way that they only use for cold brew -- it is a real treat. These guys are every bit as good as Stumptown. Well done, guys!! I can't wait to be back! read more

The decor was cool, dark wood, big picnic table for a small community to connect, and a few couches to kick back on... The coffee to be honest taste like your average Starbucks or Petes. Darker roast, always a tad bitter, usually taking a sip and looking for your closest medic station, but all around decent.
