I visited the UNIQLO store at the Hillsdale shopping center in San Mateo, CA. I searched for men's dress shirts, There was not a single one that was sized XXL. I looked at pants and slacks. There were not sized greater than a 38. No 40s That is extremely unkind to larger individuals Shame on this company. They do not deserve to be in business in the U.S. They should go back to wherever they came from. I will never go back there. Horrible customer service! I shopped at this place first time a week ago. I bought three pairs of leggings in size small. I did not try them on since I was in a hurry. I got home and I opened one pair and they were to small. I called the customer service line and specifically asked the person on the phone would I be able to return the other two pairs who were completely unopened. She said yes. There I drove 15 miles back to the mall and I walked into the store trying to just do an exchange. A guy greeted me right away. I told him what I came for and he said I can just go to the register and they can return them for me. I waited in line and I told this girl I need to return these leggings. She said she was not sure and she got another guy to talk to me. This guy told me these are considered as inner wear and cannot be returned. I then asked for the manager since I for so many different answers from various individuals. This guy walked five steps away from me and talked to this guy who is supposed to be the manager. I was right there and the manager saw me. He glanced at me and just kept talking to that guy who was helping me, and made absolutely no attempt to walk five steps to explain to me face to face. Finally this guy came back and said there is nothing they can do for me. Feeling extremely disrespected, I left. I walked out the store and I called the customer service line again. I told this lady the situation and she pretty much just told me she cannot override the store's decision and there's nothing she can help me with. There are a couple things that upset me: 1) The store does not define what are considered as inner wears. The store staffs and the customer service people are not on the same page eventhough Uniqlo is such a big corporation. Also the associates within the same store are not knowledgeable and do not explain to customers clearly. 2) I was right there and I could see and hear the conversation between the associate and the manager. However he decided to just glanced at me but not to come over to explain to me. As a store manager, he should at least take ownership of customer issue, come over and talk to me, but not being so disrespectful. 3) I understand policy is policy. However the manager should be able to make exception when appropriate. I used to work in a retail clothing store and I understand it is not easy to deal with customer issues sometimes. In my situation, the products I was trying to return were completely unopened and I bought them less than one week ago. I showed the original receipt to prove that I bought three of the same things and I did not being back the opened pair. Last but not least, I only wanted to exchange a larger size, but they still refused to help me. Due to this terrible experience, I will not be shopping at this chain anymore and I will tell all my friends and family about this. It's a shame since I like their products and prices. However they fail their customer since they are unwilling to help and unknowlegable. read more

Highly unimpressed by the store personnel and their unhelpfulness. I wanted to try some of the clothing on that comes prepackaged, but if they don't have that size available then you can't try it on?!?! The girl that helped me in the dressing room was super rude about it and told me I'd just have to buy the size I thought would fit best. So lame. read more

Sure clothes are contemporary and hip, but something about this store is a bit off. I don't know why, but it feels like H&M atmosphere is more fun. Also, they don't carry men blazers which was a total surprise for me. read more

Stopped by the store to pick up a couple basic t-shirts today. Picked 2 shirts out and wanted to try them on. The guy in the changing room desk was helping someone else and I saw that there were tons of empty rooms so I started walking towards one of the rooms. The guy stuck out his arm and sternly said, "You have to wait". He didn't say "sorry", "excuse me", or "please". He didn't even look at me or give me any sort of eye contact. After that I was really taken aback that I had more or less just got scolded in a store in which I was a customer. I put the t-shirts down and I walked out of the store. I let someone know about what had happened and I definitely will not be coming back to this store at all. read more

Nice products! My wife bought everyone matching fleece jackets. They are great and came with their own bag so you can pack a nice warm jacket into a fist sized bag! Terrible Customer Service. This seems to be a theme with other reviewers of this store, I hope they take notice. So after a single WEEK of having our new jackets, the zipper for one of my daughters jacket broke. The zipper pull actually cracked in half. So my wife brought the jacket back and asked them to exchange it, since no jacket should have a zipper fail in a week. I've had jackets for decades with no zipper probems. A week before failure is completely unacceptable. So any other store would say "Sure, we'll exchange it for a non-faulty product", but this store basically told my wife "Sorry, no exchanges." and when my wife insisted that the product was faulty, they said "well we just don't do exchanges". Wow, really? You'd lose a customer over a kids jacket that your manufacturers would have replaced for you? Yeah, so I've had to go buy a zipper repair kit to fix this and to avoid this kind of BS again, I'm never going there. There are too many other stores that welcome my patronage and hard earned money. read more

I brought a jacket for my daughter. She lives in Los Angeles. By the time she found out that it didn't fit right and return to me to return to the store. It's over 30 days. So, I got a store credit. Next time I went to the store, I noticed that the down vest was on sale. So, I picked one and went to the cashier to pay for it. He did not give me the sales price. I told him that it's on sale. We went to the rack, he said the 'sale sign' was on the wrong rack. It's supposed to be on the other rack. Needless to say, I did not buy the vest. I went to the store again last Thursday, because I need to use the store credit. There were some sweatshirt for little boys that's very cute. The first rack have sweatshirt with Snoopy and picture in the front. It's about $20. But there's a rack behind with same sweatshirt that said Peanuts, the sign said $19.98 on sale for $7.98. So, I picked 2 of those and went to pay for it. The salesperson wanted to charge me the full price. I told him that it's on sale. We went to the rack. He told me that it's not on sale, and took the sale sign away. And told me that there's nothing he can do about it. I wrote to their Customer Service Department about how to redeem the store credit for cash. As I have no intention to buy anything from them again. Unfortunately, I have to give 1 star because there's no 0 star. read more

This store is clean with friendly staff and decent service. I've been happy with the quality and price of the clothing I've purchased from their stores in Japan. Hopefully over time this store will work out their kinks and improve the training of new staff. The dressing room person had some difficulty finding the correct heat tech leggings for me to try on. I would expect the staff to be able to quickly identify and find the appropriate sample. The cashier also accidentally double charged me for two sweater, although he tried to be methodical about ringing up my purchases. read more

Staff was super helpful! I lost the bag to my down jacket and they helped me with the problem unlike the San Francisco location where most of the staff sounds like they are too good to help you. Probably because they get so many tourists and they all are jaded. Or maybe it is the sf location and the people there. All I know is. I went to both locations back to back on a sat and sun. The hillsdale location were stocked with sizes I needed and helpful staff. San Francisco is out of this size or that size or that color and the staff acts pretty snobby and too busy to bother with their customers. Plus it is the attitude that is the problem. No one really know what's going on and they have to ask each other for many minutes before helping you. They don't even know the product well. read more

UniQlo has terrible customer service. So I got my mom one of the pink vests for christmas because she had told me she was interested in it. I decided to surprise her with it. However when she received the vest she noticed it wasn't the right size and that it wasn't the best material. It also wouldn't keep her warm. If anything there might be some simple good shirts, but the brand is overpriced. Anyways the receipt states that clothing can be returned within 30 days. So I went in with my receipts and the vest (still with all tags intact & within the 30 day margin). I explain the situation to a cashier. He has a blank stare through out the conversation and says that it won't be possible to get my money back. I ask him if he's sure theres nothing that can be done, he says yes because I passed the 30 day deadline. So Im frustrated as I leave the store, I feel angry at the company. I look at the receipt and count the days since the day of the purchase. 27 days, sure its close to the 30 day deadline but the receipt strictly states 30 days. At this point I'm even more frustrated. I know I need to try one more time, at least so I can speak to the manager. So I go Into the desolate store. I ask the same cashier if I can speak to the manager. When the frigid manager comes out to speak to me, he can see that I look frustrated, however I am respectful enough not to yell. But he says the same thing as the cashier. The way I see it is if a company wants to establish a good relationship with its community it should try to settle for something that works for both the customer and the company. However the customer service does't understand. I got nothing back from this trip to the hillsdale mall. This store wasn't helpful at all. And I know for a fact that the manager could have settled something out because I also work in customer service at a different company. I understand how the system works. I gave them two stars for the products they sell-which are excellent. The customer service and return policies STINK!!!!! I was given two pairs of pants for Christmas but came back to the store to exchange for a different size. They didn't have my size so I asked for a refund. They asked me how it was paid for even though I presented a gift receipt. Shouldn't the gift receipt give them the information they need? Anyway, they could only offer me a store credit unless I could present the original receipt. Fortunately my husband was the one who had given them to me so I was able to obtain the receipt. (I would never want to ask a friend for an original receipt for a gift-that is RUDE!). So when I returned with the original receipt in hand, I was told they could only return the credit to the same card that it was charged on. I did not have that card with me and finally after speaking to the store manager, he agreed to return the money to my credit card. What kind of stupid policy is that to expect someone who receives a gift to bring in the original receipt and then to expect them to be happy with the return on the original credit card? I will NEVER buy a gift there for anyone. read more

Shopped here last weekend on Saturday. this review earned its third star for the tall guy in the fitting rooms, he was super nice and helpful, seemed to be the only one offering help in the store. The guy at the register said maybe 3 words to my boyfriend and I. He obviously didn't want to be there, FYI bro, nobody in retail wants to be there all the time. I work at a store that rhymes with Crap and guess what if I'm down I still offer the customer quality service. I don't need to make their day bad just cause mine is. He kinda ruined my experience. I only bought 2 bras which I thought were supposed to be on sale and he did not give me the sale price. I figured it wasn't worth going back to ask because he was so utterly unhelpful. Also side note, like I said I work in retail and I'm constantly forced to "hook it up" for that annoying and pushy customer who read the sign wrong but still wants the discount.
