My daughter and I went in for a 10am appointment. We showed up 10 minutes early. The gentleman told us to pick out a color and got the chairs ready for us. My daughter waited while the lady finished up with a client before us, as she was running behind (not sure what happened, but not a big deal). The gentleman did great on my feet, took his time and fixed my ingrown toenail, gave me tips to help it as well. The lady came and did my daughter's and went by her request as she has sensitive feet and had two toe nails rip off at the skin(so extremely sensitive). The lady ended up using gel on her, just so I didn't have to wait as long(didn't charge for the gel). They were both very kind and easy to talk to. They are hitting their 23 year mark of doing nails. For the price and what we got, it was definitely worth the $30. read more

Would not recommend coming here at all. It was my first time coming here and the guy doing my nails randomly stopped halfway through doing them and just left. I sat there for a little assuming he just had to go to the bathroom or take a small break until he just walked out got in his car and drove off Lmfao. I sat there for about 15 more mins until I decided to ask the only other worker in there what happened and she was like sorry I'll do your nails next he had to go get kids????? lol ??? neither of them thought it was necessary to let me know anything, I only needed a fill and I ended up being there for 2hrs. mind uuuuu me and one other lady were the only people in there since I got there. wouldnt come here unless ur an older woman read more

I am from Maine and was in Desert Hot Springs for a few days on a cross country trip. I called Unique Nails the day ahead for an appointment just based on a google search. They took me right on time. The woman who did my gel manicure and pedicure was so friendly and welcoming. i guess it is her and her husband who run the shop. I have had manicures/pedicures pretty much my whole adult life and I can say without hesitation these were the BEST I have ever had. I mean they are perfect! I wish so much I lived near this salon so I could always have such great work done. Thanks so much, unique nails! read more

The man there was very rude. We didn't even get the chance to ask about services. We are new here and decided to drive around a check out some of the nail place. This place is definitely a no since it seems they aren't even interested in our business. Their window says walk in welcome but he acted like we broke the law by opening the door. We are new to the area and have been in search of a good nail salon. Several people recommended this place plus a couple others. I tried several and wasn't happy (I'm not a picky person, just know what I want). So I made an appointment, there's only two techs so they are busy. Went for my appointment and the gentleman waited on me. He asked me what I wanted, I explained to him I wanted acrylic (new set). He never smiled or said anything else to me. He asked what shape I wanted and I told him coffin. He frowned at me and pointed to a picture. "This what you want?" I said yes and he shook his head. When he was done they were very uneven, the polish was wavy, not smooth, there was extra acrylic under the ends of my nails that he didn't remove. I give up. I drove to my old place in Indio and got to my regular guy and he took one look and said "What happened to your nails?" Arrived for my 5 'o clocc appointment 15 min. early. Wasn't necessary apparently...more so...not liked either. Hospitality wasn't very warm and the guy was rude. Not understanding what that was about but definitely didn't feel very welcomed. I booked an appointment for another salon as i sat waiting to be served. That salon actually had a 5 star rating and as well as 5 star service. Unique Nails definitely had a unique way've driving this customer away for sure. read more

Linda does an excellent job with waxing, I only cried a little! She shaped my eyebrows perfectly and didn't mind when I had to take a business call during my waxing session. Lisa gave me an amazing pedicure, her attention to detail was fantastic! Her foot and leg massage felt great as well. Horrible service ! I walked in to get a pedicure and a manicure and the gentleman who was also doing another womans nail told me he didn't have time . I asked if it was because it was only 2 of them and he replied yes ! It was reallly weird ! Usually when you walk into a nail salon at 12 pm , they tell you it will be a wait but apparently they were closing soon :( I have no idea how they make a living if send people away like that or maybe my skin isn't light enough . I call ahead and made an appointment for five. At 5pm John stared the removal of of the old gel polish. Then started services on walk in clients. No personal attention very poor job of filing and shaping my nails after nails were done it was noticeable also the gel run under my nails John clip my nails and cut my skin so today I have sore fingers and gel under my nails. Well I'm visiting from the bday area on a girls trip. We didn't have time for mani pedi so we decided to pick a local nail shop. Which is how we landed here, it's about 5 mins from our air bnb. The window says walkins welcome. We walked in and asked for two pedis and one mani. The nail tech said "we don't have time!" Rudest response! There was two nail techs who each had customer and two people waiting. Needless to say it's probably because were young black women. read more

Terrible service, I use to be regular customer, always on time for my appointments and they always made me wait 30 min to take me , so one day I showed up like 15 min late and the man told me oh I can't take you your latte, I sad: ok , they are right but today I was the last one. If i could give a negative score I would have! I had an appt with Lisa for a mani/pedi. During my pedicure I noticed she was very backed up so I offered to come back for my manicure. My appt one week later was for 10:30. I didn't get seen until 11:00 which I was not happy about. Come time to pay and she was charging me the regular Mani price. I reminded her of my appt of last week and what transpired. She said they don't give the discount unless it's at the same time and I should have asked about that last week. This is an amazing nail salon! It is large, clean, well-organized, brightly lit, and comfortable. There are 7 massage chairs for pedicures and 9 manicure/nail art stations. The salon is owned by a Vietnamese man and his wife, Lisa. He has operated the salon there for 8 years. His staff is friendly and skilled. I got the lower part of my arms waxed first in a private room. Linda did a wonderful job. In fact, it was the best arm waxing I have ever had done! I have very blond, fine hair on my arms. So, waxing it away is challenging because you can barely see it. Linda made sure to apply the wax in the direction the hair grows and then pull in the opposite direction. She used a tiny layer of hot wax and worked in small sections. Towards the end she asked me to help her examine my arms to make sure she had not missed a spot. The cost for an elbow to hand wax is $25 for both arms. I was so happy with the arm waxing I decided to stay for a pedicure. I sat in a wonderful massage chair for 10 minutes allowing the chair to work out the stress on my body while my feet soaked in a warm water whirlpool bath! I perused a magazine and watched news on the television perched high above the floor. In addition to using acetone, an electric nail file was used to gently and efficiently remove the blue-black nail polish from my toenails. This was a tough assignment, but they did it patiently until not a trace was left of my former color choice. My feet were scrubbed thoroughly while I looked at the various nail designs offered. I chose a cotton candy pink shade as the base and selected a white flower pattern for my big toes. Lisa did an excellent job of trimming the cuticles and my toenails. She took more steps in the process of preparing, painting, and sealing the pedicure than I have ever experienced. I was very pleased. In addition to the waxing, pedicures, and manicures, the salon offers nail tips, nail repairs, basic nail art, and even airbrushed designs. I took photos of the various options. (Check out the photos here.) I was even impressed with the high-tech nail drying station. This place has it all! I am going back next week to get some French nail tips. I saw three ladies get theirs done while I was there, and the final result looked very natural and beautiful. I would highly recommend this nail salon to anyone living in the area or visiting any of the Desert Hot Springs mineral water spas. It needs to be part of your overall pampering experience while you are in town! The prices are also better than in Palm Springs. This place is truly a treasure! I am thrilled to have such a top-shelf nail salon near my desert getaway house! The only reason this salon did not get 5 stars is because I did not get my heels and the rougher parts of my feet slathered with callus remover and then filed to remove the callus build-up and keep my feet soft. This is not a big deal for me personally, as I have the tools to take good care of my feet on my own in this department. But I think this should be part of the service. I forgot to ask about it while I was there. Next time I will take callus remover and a heel file with me and show them what I need done. I am sure they will accommodate me. read more

I recently visited unique nails because I needed to do something about my bushman eyebrows. I arrived right when they opened. There was one other lady ahead of me and I was trying to get the inside scoop about the place. I was told it's the only place she goes to get her eyebrows done and I shouldn't go anywhere else. When I was taken to the back room the lady was very sweet and took her time to perfect the shape of my eyebrows. I now know why I was told to never go anywhere else. I've been coming here for four years now ( after having tried many others in the local area). The owner does my acrylic nails beautifully. I always get compliments on them. They're thin, well shaped, beautifully painted. My pedicure is exceptional. Lisa pays attention to detail. Twice she fixed my infected ingrown toenail and it healed. They both take time with what they do. John doesn't plaster a 'welcome' smile on his face when you come in, but his work is sterling and Lisa is just a delight. They both do 5 star work. read more

Terrible service, no time management, false advertising, they never have any time for any nail appointments or eyebrow appointments, every time I walk in they always tell me to wait 3 to 5 hours or to make an appointment next time why would you make me get an appointment when your front door says walk-ins are welcome and there's only two people working and four stations. It's the husband and the wife and they bring their baby to work. If I could give zero stars I would but I'll just never come back here! read more

First and foremost, all I really care about is how great my nails and toes look when I am done. Having said that, if you get easily offended by rude service, than this place is not for you. Every time I go, it is packed and if you are a walk-in you will wait at least an hour to get anything done. The gentleman is not friendly about it either and if you like great service you will not get it. What you will get is great looking nails. He does a great job at acrylic nails and his wife was the only one who was able to get my toe nails square (which I do not think is very difficult however the place across the street could not do it after two pedicures and neither could the place in the Palm Desert mall). Both me and my cousin raved for weeks on how great a job she did on our feet. I am going again this week for my birthday and am expecting great looking nails. read more

I have had my nails done at this salon many times when I go south for the winter...my only complaint is that I have problems soaking off the nails when I get back to Canada. My nail tech here says the reason for that is that they use an illegal substance called MMA (Methyl Methacrylate), so I will have to look for somewhere else as this substance can really damage your nails. read more
