Shannon falls view

3 stars (is not a bad thing in my book). Recommend- if you're craving from some Asian food, and support small business- it's worth a quick stop. Food- got XLB, BBq pork steam bun, Chinese sausage bun, and bolo bao with butter: all were 3-4 star good. For its location, and no other Asian food in sight, it's 5 stars. Drinks come in 8oz or 12 oz. * Strawberry cream matcha- refreshing. Best mixed. Service- nice, standard. Order at window, get a number buzzer tells you when to go to pick up food. Ambiance- rustic feel. Backyard/side of house has tables with umbrellas to eat with a view of Shannon falls. To be clear- 3 stars is not bad. Location- 3 min south of Sea to Sky gondola. Parking available. Value- expensive, but for location, fair? Example- BBQ pork steam Bao 2 for CAD$8.

The bakery

It really is unique - a Hong Kong style bakery, attached to a campground, with a large patio overlooking Shannon Falls. If you go on Sundays, they have a larger pop-up menu with many extra items like a BBQ pork puff pastry. I came with a few friends on a Sunday, so we were able to sample quite a few things. Siu mai, XLB, and BBQ pork puff pastry were delicious. All true to what you'd expect at any HK bakery or dim sum place. They have quite a few choices of drinks: full espresso menu, HK milk tea, ovaltine, lemon tea, and creative ube and matcha drinks. It was slammed on a sunny summer Sunday. We waited maybe 15 minutes to order and the food came out quickly after. No trouble finding a table on the patio.

SUCH a great spot! What a beautiful view and amazing high quality drinks/food. We spent a night camping in Klahanie and could not resist coming to Unique Slow Rise twice in our stay. We were HOOKED on the matcha!! So well balanced, delicious, fruity, creamy - perfect! We loved the XLB and the sticky rice (so nostalgic!) Matcha was the biggest star for us. While it was pricey, it was totally worth it for us. made our camping experience all the more special! I think it's such a nice treat after spending some time in nature!

Bbq pork bun, soy vegetable roll, soup dumplings

We were excited to check out this little dim sum place at the Khalanie campground across from Shannon Falls. It's a cute little place, but we had to look twice to find it as it blends in with the offices and other buildings around it. We ordered the soup dumplings, ha gow, soy bean veggie roll and bbq pork buns. I'll say this, coming from the campground, where you're sleeping on the ground, you normally have greasy bacon and eggs with dirt in it, this was a wonderful break from camping food. For dim sum camping food, it was perfect! Would I come out here just to have this dim sum again, definitely not. Vancouver has the best of the best. But if you're out in the Squamish area and want to have a bit of homemade dim sum, this will fill that craving. My favourite was the soup dumplings, the ha gow was decent too. We were very disappointed in the bbq pork bun, it barely had any filling and the bun wasn't soft and fluffy. The one thing that will definitely not disappoint, the view! You have a beautiful view of Shannon Falls in the seating area in the back of the restaurant. You can bring your dogs too.

Even though the place is named after the owner, Unique, it certainly is a unique spot in Squamish. We visited for their official grand opening to try some dim sum items and it was quite delicious given that they operate out of a campground. I've never had dim sum outdoors on picnic tables and it was definitely a cool experience. I think they're still figuring things out so the experience wasn't perfect, but the concept is so cool that I have to give it 5 stars! We ordered the bolo cookie and a few standard dim sum items like shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings. It was super great to see they even have vegan versions of popular items like siu mai and the taste was surprisingly not disappointing. I think you have to visit this place with a lowered standard for dim sum since it obviously cannot compare to dim sum shops in Vancouver. But for Squamish, outdoors, it was good! I like their bakery items much more. The Bolo cookie is such a cute concept: a mix of the bolo bun in cookie form! They also have a lot of drink options. Service was a bit slow, again because they're just starting. I was also a bit disappointed that we got our food in takeout containers and there were no chopsticks... but maybe that was just for today? Pictures from their soft opening seem to suggest they have some pretty adorable plates and tea cups and definitely chopsticks. I hope to revisit when they have it more figured out!

Such a gem in the heart of Squamish! This little bakery is located inside Klahanie Campground. They have specialty lattes, and dim sum staples. We ordered shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, soup dumpling, and two regular lattes (one hot and one iced). The outdoor seating area is gorgeous with views of Shannon Falls and wild blackberry bushes surrounding you. Definitely give this place a visit!

$6.50!!! 1 BBQ pork bun in 1 expensive take out container.

Absolute BEST dim sum I've had yet. Made to order, the food was hot, juicy, and tasted just right…read more Not greasy or oily, just pure juiciness. We tried to go to other places around town for dim sum but others were too busy or only took reservations. I'm so glad we ended up here. Portions are huge so be careful when ordering! We ordered a lot and ended up having plenty to take home after. 12/10 recommend this place for delicious dim sum!

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

We were somewhat worried about this. Our server was friendly. We asked for lots of lemons/limes with our water and got one slice of lemon each. She didn't really understand the concept of limes, but did go back and get us more lemons. I ordered the Tofu in Salt & Pepper, which is an appetizer, and my friends ordered the spring rolls, which were very nice, Chinese broccoli, and stir fry broccoli in garlic sauce. None of the dishes came with rice, which surprised us. The S&P tofu was spicy, crispy, and delicious. It had small pieces of red and green peppers and onions. It was also fairly spicy, so let them know if you want it milder. They slice the tofu fairly thin, which makes it easier to get crispy I'm sure. My friend's Chinese broccoli was also very tasty. It's not really broccoli but a type of kale with stems that has great health benefits. The stir fry broccoli with garlic sauce didn't have a ton of flavor, but it was cooked well. I really didn't taste much garlic in it, but it was bright green and crunchy. They make their own sauces in house and the yellow mustard was not as spicy as the ones you get pre-packaged. The sweet sauce for the spring rolls was very nice; I added it to my tofu, which went together nicely. The red chili sauce was more sweet than spicy. This was a solid Chinese restaurant, but it did not stand out amongst its peers, hence the 3 star rating.
