Ginger and Scallion Crab Body: Coated in a thin layer of batter and deep-fried, then sautéed with ginger and scallions, perfectly enhancing the crab's sweetness. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it's very flavorful. Crab Shell Fried Rice: The rice is distinct, with a refreshing and non-greasy taste, and plenty of shrimp and other seafood ingredients. Steamed Grouper The fish is incredibly tender! The skin is fragrant with scallions--absolutely delicious! Grouper also has very few bones, making it easy to pick out and eat, perfect for the elderly. Finally got a chance to check this place out. I came here with my family for mother's day celebration dimsum. I order couple of dim sum dishes. The portion size was really good. The quality of the dishes were not bad. We were a table of 4 and by ordering over $80, we got free chashu. We also ordered their famous squab. I didn't know what was a squab and in Chinese, they translated it as Chicken. We were wrong. It came and the meat didn't taste like chicken. I later googled and found out that it was a domestic pigeon. Not so impressed and will never be ordering squab ever again. Meal came to $140 for 4 people. We had leftovers. The best thing about this place is there is not tea charges and free parking downstairs. Note that the parking spots downstairs are quite small and challenging to park into. This restaurant has two parts. The VIP area and the big dinning area. The big regular dining area is a lot bigger in space. where as the VIP area is more private. I wouldn't get it again here. Not fried like other places. The flavour wasn't the best Crispy shrimp dumpling - interesting dish. Not bad to try once. Very crispy on the outside. Lots of shrimp inside Pork floss rice roll - lots of pork floss. The rice roll was soft but lacked that fragrant rice flavour Crispy fried ginger - don't get this unless you LOVE ginger flavour. I swung by New Mandarin Seafood Restaurant for dim sum this weekend. The menu has a ton of variety and I appreciate that they have a lot of photos to show my friends who are newer to the dim sum scene. First, the Truffle Siu Mai was the star--rich, fragrant, and just the right amount of truffle without overpowering the shrimp and pork. Same goes for the Truffle Vegetarian dumplings. I wasn't expecting much, but they were super flavorful and had that nice earthy truffle aroma that made them feel a little fancy. The BBQ pork rice rolls were soft and silky with big pieces of BBQ pork inside--simple but really well done. I also grabbed the black bean spare ribs, which were tender and had that classic savory black bean punch. And yes, I got the chicken feet--great texture and nicely seasoned, if you're into them. Service was a little slow but dishes came out hot and fresh. Overall, a solid dim sum spot but can get really busy with long wait times even with a reservation. Pro tip: try to come before 11am or after 1:30pm to secure a free underground parking spot assigned to the restaurant. read more

I came for a family dinner. This place is solidly average, in a city with an abundance of top tier Chinese food. The dining room has high ceilings and feels more spacious than it really is. Its decently clean since its relatively newer. Food was just average. We ordered their roast pork served like peking duck - the pork was ok, crackling was not always crispy, and the accompanying cucumbers were stale. We had a few stir fried meat and seafood dishes with veg - nothing amazing that stood out, nothing particularly bad either. Nothing memorable - everything was 3/5. tbh I cant remember them all now so I wont bother trying. E-fu noodles at the end - good but a little bland. They have free parking in designated spots in the underground lot. There are several sections of spots though, so look for the signs. They arent all grouped together. Parking spots are tight. Service is on the low end of what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant. Really bare-bones. Nobody was rude, but service just was not there. They started out by bringing out dish after dish WAY too fast. Literally we havent even served one dish to everyone at the table yet when they kept bringing more out. It was farcical when they ran out of table space to put the food out because of their ridiculous timing. We had to tell them to slow down. And other than bringing out the food, there was not much service to speak of. Sometimes they would come change your plate. I think they did it twice the entire meal and whenever we needed something we had to flag someone down and it still took a while. I have no reason to come back here. The experience wasnt bad, but it also wasnt good. There are plenty of great places in town at every price point and this place doesnt make the cut. read more

Here's what we ordered: Hot & Sour Soup (literally the best version I've ever had in my life) Garlic Gai Lan (delicious with subtle flavors and an excellent crisp) Fried cuttlefish & tofu (love the texture and a surprise dish for the evening, will definitely order it again) Black pepper, beef spareribs (I loved every portion of this dish) Salt and pepper crab (this is my constant go to whenever I'm in Vancouver at a Chinese restaurant, this place made it perfect) Jeffrey was our server and made excellent suggestions for us. We decided to eat at the entrance next to T&T which had multiple private party rooms. This was great for a party of 8. We called ahead and let them know we were coming at 8p with a large group. You can park at the T&T market, so long as you part in certain spots When we arrive, the manager rushed us to order. They told us the kitchen closed at 9p and we had to order everything soon. She was pressing dishes and combo meals on us, when we wanted to order al la carte. Needless to say, it was stressful ordering. We decided to get Chow fun, a Fish, Duck, Lettuce Wraps, Chinese Broccoli, Pea Tips and The Dessert Combo. Food was good, but not excellent. We didn't want the combo menu because that was a lot of food and it was spendy. Around 900 CAD for the basic. I originally wanted to try this place out by the instagrams but what I saw didn't translate to what I experienced. The wait staff was rude and said that we needed to order more food. Excuse me. We ordered 8 dishes. Anyhoo, the food was alright. The peking duck was nice and crispy along with the wrapper. They forced a ginger scallion fish on us, it was mid. The dessert included a mango corn gelatin, the coconut jiggly piggy and the viral chocolate doggo that was still frozen... Not the greatest service that would warrant a recommendation from Michelin to try in my opinion. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for 8 dishes was around 400 CAD. Rude and forced service. Came here for my friend's baby's 100 day celebration and multiple people raved about how this was the best banquet food they've had. For me, the show stopper was the crispy roasted pork. The service was decent and the tea charge for the adults were waived in addition to a 20% discount to the entire bill. Moreover, there was a plate of complementary BBQ pork. Been here for dim sum and dinner a few times now. The prices are a bit higher than other Chinese restaurant as it competes with Kirin, Sun Siu Wah, Dynasty, etc. The dishes are delicious, quality is consistent and the service is great. There is free parking underground in designated spots and you write down your license plate at the front of the restaurant. Although sometimes you don't as the log book may not be there on the counter. I recommend making reservations as it does get busy and if you don't have a reservation, you may wait a while. They have the main area off of Gladstone Street, but they also have private rooms you can reserve where you enter off Kingsway. There is a minimum charge for the rooms. read more

We went during lunch on a Sunday and expected it to be busy but we called the restaurant 20 mins ahead and asked if there was a wait. The worker said she would take our name down. When we got there, we waited a short time, perhaps 10-15 mins, for a table to become available. Though extremely busy, the restaurant/workers are very quick and organized in cleaning out finished tables for the next guests. We pretty much enjoyed everything we ordered. Fried Fish Paste Red Roll: 5/5. Pork Floss Rice Roll: 4/5 good but not WOW good. Chicken Feet: 5/5 one of the meatiest and plumpest chicken feet ever. Not overly flavorful but just enough. Sweet Piggies dessert: 4/5 super cute and photo-worthy. Tasted pretty good also. Glutinous Wild Rice Wrap: 4.5/5 good. Pork Spareribs: 5/5 did not expect to like this as much as I did but the meat was super tender and flavor was on point. Hot & sour pork dumpling: 2.5/5 my least favorite out of everything we ordered. We'd been to New Mandarin Restaurant for dinner a long time ago and had enjoyed the food very much, so we decided to go there for lunch and try out their dim sum. I really wanted to like their dim sum as I'd seen such positive reviews for it. Sad to say that we were a bit disappointed with our dim sum experience. There were a couple of good items such as the Bean Curd Roll with Prawns, and the Crispy Shrimp Dumplings; however, everything else on the table was either just OK or disappointing. Wasabi Scallops & Shrimp Dumpling was probably the biggest disappointment. It looks good in photos because of its bright green colour, but we couldn't really taste any wasabi in it. We would still come back for dinner sometime but we're not likely to come back for dim sum again. Unfortunately, due to tonight's experience, I need to downgrade my review. At the end of the meal, the manager started a debate with us over not giving a huge tip. Service tonight was very rushed. We felt herded out. The meal was coming to an end, there were still tasty morsels left and we were finishing up. Wait staff kept trying to asked us to box it up or tried to take away the plate. I said several times we were NOT FINISHED EATING. At one point the manager came by with customers pointing at our table saying it's their table when we leave. Rude. We were not even seated over our time frame. Finally the bill was shoved at us. When the manager saw the amount of tip, she gave us a lecture on how hard her staff work and that a bigger tip is needed. I was floored! What is happening at the New Mandarin...! So you might wonder what all the hype is about. So as an avid fan of all food and especially oriental food, I will tell you. It started rocky with having to wait 45 minutes in a super crowded entry way, even with a reservation. We were having a birthday brunch for our beloved niece who chose this restaurant. We got shuffled out the door of the main entrance and around the corner through the rain to the entrance where they had private rooms. We were not so lucky to get a room but were in the entry where they had two large tables set up. All i can say is thank goodness we were not the table by the door! Burrrrt... We had been smart to choose our order of food before being seated so we finally felt relaxed. The food started coming and we were so surprised of the large portions! With how food prices have gone up in the last few years going out can be pricey. Prices were on par with most chinese dim sum restaurants but here you get lots of food. We were there for din sum so the usual steam dumplings with a few surprise items that were pretty yummy. All our choices were really good and i would recommend the cute coconut milk pudding piglets, adorable! Service okay, pretty fast and they come when you signal you need something. We decided on New Mandarin, the restaurant was decent size but not too packed and we did not have to wait long for a table. The service was great and quite quick. The food was pretty good, I personally think it's comparable to what we have in the Bay Area(I think a lot of restaurants in the bay are better than this particular one). They did have their own twist on some of their dishes, which were quite pleasant. The entrance to the garage is a bit hidden and is on the other side of the building, in the alley next to Gram Cafe. Once you go down, look for the designated parking spots for the restaurant. We shared the below dishes (** marks my favorite) ** Roasted suckling pig ($198 for half) - the meat was very tender and the skin super crispy. I really enjoyed this dish ** Peking duck two ways ($78.98) - served in slices with the thin pancake wrap and your choice for the second dish. I opted for lettuce wraps, which were super flavorful and ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the night! Live dungeness crab ($101.94) - stirfried with ginger and green onion. Pretty standard and not sure if it's worth the price Live fish of the night ($113.96) - I personally found the fish a bit bland, was very fresh but also not sure if it's worth the price Braised beef ribs in black pepper sauce ($69.98) - this was another popular dish with the table as the ribs were very tender, though for me personally it was a bit too pepper-y Salt and pepper fried tofu ($25.98) - pretty standard ** Mushroom e-fu noodles ($24.98) - the noodles were surprisingly good and had good wok hei We also got some complementary red bean soup and small cookie bites for dessert. Two months ago, my family went here for dinner. We made reservations and pre-ordered a half roasted crispy suckling pig and durian and sago baked pudding. There was parking underneath in the garage but there were only a limited number of parking spaces(which was full) for the restaurant. I ended up parking in the other spaces and purchasing something from T&T so we can park for two hours for free. Besides the suckling pig and durian pudding, we also ordered the pea pods and salted egg fried tofu. Unfortunately, the suckling pig was a disappointment. It was very fatty and not crispy at all. The salted egg fried tofu was very mushy. I expected it to be crispy and dry. Pass. The baked durian pudding was like the size of a 12-inch pie! I was expecting it to be individual portions... I thought it was good especially the pineapple bun like crust although the portion was way too big. My family didn't care for it though. Overall, the meal was a disappointment. The food here was a cut about most Chinese restaurants in Seattle. The chandeliers that adorn the ceiling give it a grand ambiance and ceiling to floor windows allow in a lot of natural light and the service was great, although the hostess was a bit harsh and rude but it was very busy so maybe she was at her limit and having a bad day, so four out of five isn't bad. read more

The menu is very confusing for English speaking customers. We walked here from our air bnb and were very confused when seated in a corner of a room with a very large party eating family style. The waitresses didn't speak English well and couldn't answer any questions. The menu mentioned a room fee, but we didn't know how much or if we were going to have to pay for this.
