Jeff Kieffer came out the day after I called and provided an estimate and a proposed plan, and the owner, Diego Martinez, visited my house twice, once to explain how a difficult room would be accessed and serviced, and the day the work began to answer any final questions and give final directions to the installation team. The process was smooth and efficient: * The team arrived on time, were extremely courteous, and Diego, the owner, showed up and took the time to explain everything clearly one more time. * They handled the installation with care, keeping the work area clean throughout the day. No mess left behind--they even vacuumed up and wiped down areas they worked in. * The crew was knowledgeable, answered all my questions patiently, and made sure the new unit was perfectly sized for our home (no shortcuts or upselling) * They tested everything thoroughly before leaving, walked me through the operation of the new thermostat (Ecobee Premium), maintenance tips, and warranty details. It's only been a short time since the install, but the difference in comfort is night and day. Exceptional financing was offered, and the value of this project was perfect for my budget I also gained a new closet by moving the unit up to the attic! If you're in the Orange County area and need a new AC/heater system, I can't recommend this team highly enough. For context, during this period we had a newborn and significant personal obligations. When the visit occurred, the noise did not happen at that moment and no technician evaluation or adjustment was performed as a result. I later recorded the noise when it occurred and shared video evidence. Despite this, no diagnostic visit was offered. My review reflects both the unresolved issue and how it was ultimately handled. After posting this review, the business responded by disputing timelines and attributing the issue to unrelated work, but did not offer to inspect or resolve the ongoing airflow/pressure noise, despite video evidence. The attic cellulose work referenced was recommended by their team and performed by a contractor they referred. I had an air conditioning unit installed by Evolution Air in 2021. Since installation, the unit has intermittently made a loud "farting" or bubbling noise. I reported this issue within the first year. A technician came out, but unfortunately the noise did not occur during the visit, so nothing was adjusted or fixed. The problem has continued since then. After researching the issue myself, I found multiple discussions on Reddit indicating this is a known and common problem related to airflow or pressure adjustment, and that it is typically an easy fix for an experienced technician. Despite this, the issue remains unresolved years later. Overall, I'm disappointed that a known, recurring issue reported early on was not properly addressed, and that I've had to rely on online forums to understand what should have been a straightforward adjustment. We moved forward with the fix, and it worked fine, and then it didn't. After a few more visits, and some more parts and tinkering, it finally started working properly. Although it was a strange and difficult situation, they stuck to it until the problem was resolved. The techs Danny and Mark went above and beyond to make sure everything was good. Another thing to add, the way the company communicated back and forth with me was great. They answered every call and every text. Most of the time I spoke with Stacey and she was great. They exceeded our expectations and we much appreciated their patience and openness to answering all our questions. I also want to mention that I was gardening when SEAN was fixing our AC. He saw me struggling to dig a hole for my plant and volitionally offered to help me. He took the extra time to dig the hole for me, exemplifying his genuine kindness and generosity! Similarly, my kids were running amuck and screaming and shouting while I attempted to maintain a conversation with ALFRED. He was very understanding and continued to engage in conversation, appearing unbothered by the chaos with a pleasant disposition. Lastly, DOMENICK was appointed on the day of our son's birthday. He related to us interpersonally and even helped assemble my son's new Radio Flyer bike! I told him that Sean also helped me garden and we laughed about how Friends & Family is a "one-stop shop." Given everything I mentioned, we're excited to have our overdue AC/heater system fully repaired by Friends & Family. What I appreciated most is how knowledgeable they were. They took the time to actually explain what was going on with the AC instead of just throwing terms at me. I decided to call around for a second opinion and had the pleasure of speaking with Andrew from Air Flow Bros. After explaining my situation, he took the time to clearly break down why a Freon refill might be necessary and what I should be looking out for with my A/C system. He also shared some helpful tips to keep in mind moving forward. What really stood out was his honesty. He actually encouraged me to go with the best price and mentioned that if I needed anything further, he'd be happy to come out and take a closer look. Kirk was FANTASTIC! Our unit is 20 years old, we have never really had regular maintenance on it. He showed up super early (they asked if that was okay, and YES thank you). Before he arrived they sent a text with his name and photo. I absolutely love this! That extra safety is so important. Kirk looked at our unit and asked some questions. He explained all they do with the "family plan" so we signed up. I am one of those that needs to be reminded of scheduled upkeep so this is perfect. He gave us the estimate before he started and I asked for a very rough estimate of a new unit (having no idea) so we decided to go with repair and hope for the best. The repair wasn't cheap but considering all the work that needed to be done as well as it being an older unit, I feel it was a very fair price. I think we did have the best with Kirk. He was able to repair our unit and give it some much needed TLC for our AC unit and furnace. He even installed our pre-purchased thermostat! Kirk was polite and considerate. He took time to answer all of our questions and ensured us that we could reach out with any questions, I believe him. Service people can often be rushed, there is a lot of work out there, but not Kirk. He didn't waste time either, I felt like he was in and out in no time at all. By the time he left we understood all that was done and what we need to do to get some additional service from our current unit. I could not be happier with the call I made this morning. I picked the right people to call!

They sent another company, I didn't get any "pre-paid" service but was quoted $3,300+ to fix it. I was graciously offered a short term fix for $1,000+ and charged $89.00 for coming out. Bait & switch, I'll get my heater fixed by another company.

Definitely not substandard quality. Definitely not "Mickey Mouse" work. *2019 - I had new air conditioner ducts installed, because the old one had asbestos. Although I was informed that as long as you do not touch the asbestos, it was "safe", I decided to replace the ducts. *July 10, 2020 - GC HEATING & COOLING installed a new AC system *Jan. 19, 2021 - GC HEATING & COOLING adjusted the offset pressure at gas valve because it was not working. *Feb. 12, 2021 - GC HEATING & COOLING had to replace the inducer motor. *August 9, 2024 - I posted a bad review of GC Heating & Cooling on YELP. The owner, GUSTAVO CANO, reached out to me, and we discussed my issue. He convinced me, that the reason I was having problems with my unit, was because I did not agree to allow him to replace the ducts. He said the solution to my complaint, was for him to replace the ducts. *August 15, 2024 - GC HEATING & COOLING replaced my ducts, and I paid them $5,200.00. I took down the bad review on YELP. *September 17, 2025 - I called Gustavo Cano about issues, and he was visibly upset, and combative. He said he was coming, but that he would charge me if my complaints were unfounded. He never showed. My issues are the following: 1. The strap of the duct fell off. 2. SEALP Plenum duct sealing - NOT FULL SYSTEM 3. Type of Ducting/Condition : MYLAR not sealed. My AC system was installed July 10, 2020, six (6) years ago. Now, apparently, it has a leak. My old YORK air conditioner was twenty (20) years old when I had it replaced. It never broke down. I religiously have my unit cleaned, and turned up yearly by professionals. GC HEATING & COOLING is just very disappointing. If you value your money, then please learn from my experience. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Olivia Soriano
