We moved forward with the fix, and it worked fine, and then it didn't. After a few more visits, and some more parts and tinkering, it finally started working properly. Although it was a strange and difficult situation, they stuck to it until the problem was resolved. The techs Danny and Mark went above and beyond to make sure everything was good. Another thing to add, the way the company communicated back and forth with me was great. They answered every call and every text. Most of the time I spoke with Stacey and she was great. After checking estimates and the offers of several companies, I settled on Thompson to do a complete replacement of our HVAC system, including new ductwork and management of inspections and permits. The price was very competitive and the communication with the office was easy. On the day the work started, the crew arrived on time and started the demo of the previous system. I knew in advance that I would have the air handler installed in the attic to reduce noise in the living area. If your situation permits this option, definitely go for it! You'll be surprised how nice it is not even knowing that the HVAC is operating other than the airflow you sense from the registers. We opted for a heat exchanger, and I was very surprised that it occupies about 1/3 of the area the previous system's compressor did. You literally have to look at the fan spinning to know if it's on or not, it's so quiet. After three days, the work was finished and the guys left no evidence they'd even been there. When he got there it wasn't working but as he went through his initial trouble shooting steps it came on and after that he could not get it to stop working. I love Josh... He came to my house when I had an American Standard, and got one of his technicians to replace a control board in the blower for much less than anyone else quoted me. I also had many conversations with him about charitable giving and his faith and was impressed that he was not one of those greedy companies selling maintenance contracts... fast forward... I think Josh is enjoying his well deserved success! I had his company replace that American Standard with a supposedly comparable Daikin (the specialty of his company now.). The technicians were sloppy, and I would say incompetent, but the project manager saved the day when the techs messed up too much to ignore, and even injured themselves, and the project manager came on site to fix the ridiculous oversight. They also left a full bottle of freon on the site (I am honest and called him to let him know). Obviously an educational experience for the new techs... I wish I had known. I would have had hired someone else. This company trains Daikin installers. They might be a good fit for industrial installs (I worked for data centers for 30+ years and daikin is a reputable brand) but avoid the residential installs, the heater is so insufficient, that I can not even imagine someone outside of California not suing the company. The cooling solution that was installed is insanely insufficient... It is 105 outside, my AC threshold is set at 73F, and I have one room currently at 69F and my bedroom is 81F. My Return air/ Supply air spread is all over the place depending on where you are at in the house.... To be fair I am in a 1954 lathe and plaster house with concrete outside walls, and pretty much no insulation, but I never had the issues I am having when I had the American Standard unit. It is very obvious that this unit is an under rated Daikin. There are so many other issues, like filter size, duct work not properly sealed, and alarm system, electrical, and telephone wiring that was damaged during the install. I won't even call them back to repair anything. I paid another company to fix the negligence, and probably will replace the unit before I sell the house to get it up to code, and capacity. Sorry Josh. I hate to leave bad reviews, Keep up with your music, and hopefully, the business can run itself. read more

1st visit was in March for no cooling from the unit. Told the first tech the approximate date it was installed and the potential AC issue explained to me on install, which was that a larger line coming from the exterior unit connecting to a smaller line running through the house and back out to a larger line for the furnace/coils inside (forgive my laymen's terms) could hamper cooling and mess with the life of the unit. I was given a confused look but told he didn't think that was the issue. -Unable to find a cause for no cooling aside from low coolant but the cause undetermined. Upsold me to a chemical that can help in finding leaks and seal small leaks that could be added in with the coolant. Added. Did not fix it... bye $585 2nd visit at the end of May. New tech came, I told him the same thing I told the first guy, got the same confused look and initially told that wouldn't be the problem. Found a leak (partial success not a total waste of $) and also determined the line running through the house was not right and they would have to run a new one. He had a plan on how to run the new one but would need to be done with their installers. 3rd visit at the start of June. I guess the 1st tech/2nd tech are installers too because they both showed up. Plan to run the new copper did not work. 4-5 hours and $1900 later they did what amounted to no installing, welded the one leak, put more coolant in and got more air blowing by rewiring. But it was cooling!!! Success! Success until June 22nd, THREE WEEKS LATER. Seeing condensation at the furnace where I shouldn't, which I assume is a new leak because the weld did not hold. I think of all things that makes me FURIOUS is that the section where the coils are isn't sealed at all. Half of it is held together by tape which is loose from the pressure, multiple gaps with air blowing everywhere in the closet which I assume ruins air pressure through the house and NO cooling again. Could the loose tape have been from the prior person? Absolutely. Shouldn't the people tasked with finding and fixing ALL ISSUES that inhibit proper function of my unit and taking my money address those issues? Absolutely. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Thomson Air. I needed a repair on my system, because it was turning on and off during literally the hottest week of the year. We inherited our system from the last homeowner, so we really had no idea what the issue was or how to go about fixing it. I had 2 other companies try to check out the problem, and 1 tried to re-do my whole HVAC system for 15k, and another never arrived when I scheduled an appt. Thomson felt like our last hope, and the technician Tom showed up, found the problem immediately, and fixed the issue in less than 15 minutes. It was just a simple clogged pipe that he needed to clean out. He also gave me a quick lesson as to how to prevent the issue in the future. Now, full disclosure, been using thomson for 3 years now and I have to say, the people are great. Professional and polite. They are pricey but I was ok with that because they've been doing a good job and I was happy with their level of services. I have introduced this company to 3 of my friends and family. I will be sharing this review with them as well. That being said, I recently purchased a new home and despite the company my agent recommended, I decided to hire thomson to do a close inspection on the hvac system. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE. I made the inspection a week out and since we had to coordinate with the seller, I called 3 times throughout the week to confirm the time, EMPHASIZED that I was purchasing a new home and that this inspection was crucial to me. I also emphasize that thomson had to make it during the time frame as the seller was going to be leaving the house. I trusted them because they've been on time every other appointment. Needless to say, they were late. On top of that, they sent a newly trained employee for inspection. Now, I do not believe just because you're new, doesn't mean you're not qualified but that being said, I specifically requested someone more experienced. Regardless of what I said, there they were, the new employee to quote me for what is a huge purchase. Oh and due to the late arrival, the seller, of course, came back home. Embarrassing and unprofessional. Once the inspection was completed, there were some confusions around the quotation. I spoke to the technician twice and then the service manager once who all confirmed that the quotation was THE ONLY thing I needed. So the quotation was submitted for negotiation. Now, the house has been closed, done deal, I hired thomson to come perform all the services that was quoted and I found out on the day of the service that my duct work is falling apart. They initially insisted that the duct work happened to start falling apart after the inspection in which I had to go back to the original inspection report and found all the pictures. Then they said they were going to be providing a "competitive quote" where they literally quoted me more than double of what my "final quotation". Then to add the cherry on top, they were going to give me $500 off for my "inconvenience". This is all going to be costing me out of pocket now but do they care? Nope. Because Im just one customer and what was important to me was not important to them. They just provide a service and they do not own up to their mistakes. I found someone to fix everything for half the price by another company in half a day. Don't waste your money, go with someone else. read more

We had a great experience with Thomson AC. Brandon came out to do the estimate and gave us a very thorough quote that showed how thorough and knowledgeable they were. Flexible alternatives for payment, and not at all pushy or steering us toward more expensive options. The price was very reasonable overall. When it came time to do the actual install, James and Fayco were the main two installers and worked in parallel on the inside and outside portions. They laid our protective tarps to reduce the mess and protect the floors. They kept us updated as they were progressing and gave us a run through after showing us what to look out for. We were fortunate that their office/shop was close to our home as whoever a part didn't fit or they needed extra hardware, they put a call in and 10 minutes later another Thomson AC employee came by with the part that was needed. They tested the system for us, made sure it met specs, and were very efficient in doing the work. They stated a bit before 8am and finished about 3:30pm or so. This was for a Bosch heat pump and ADP air handler. The work is nearly done and everything very professional looking. This was our second time using them. Both great experiences! read more

I had a broken switch in my furnace that needed to be fixed for home warranty. The insurance contractor they sent out was horrible and condescending that I didnt want to work with them. So I had come to Yelp to find someone to help with our problem. Sent out a a bunch of requests but thankfully found Thomson AC. Josh was so fast to respond to me and super polite and patient with understanding my issue to truly help resolve my problem. He was also very transparent with me that they have a $90 inspect fee but if you do proceed with them, the $90 goes towards the repair cost. They were able to schedule me within the week and fixed my issue day they came out to inspect. Tom was super courteous and knowledgeable when he stopped by. He explained the issue I had and also warned me of a more dangerous issue I should be aware of. I asked him how much the repair would cost and having both done ended up being cheaper than the original quoted estimate! It was an easy decision to get both done. Tom was very fast to pick up the parts and resolve the broken switch and the other issue. The job was easily completed within 2-3 hours. I would definitely reach back out to Thomson AC if I have any other issues in the future with HVAC/furnace. Several companies came out and wanted to have us swap out the entire unit but something just didn't seem right for what the issue was. I had two different companies come out to check on why my mini split wasn't heating or cooling. One told me it was low on refrigerant, but they didn't have R32 refrigerant available, and the other said that I had enough refrigerant, but the system was broken, and I would have to buy a whole new system. I called back the first company, and they referred me to Thomson AC. They came out the soonest available, which took a week, but that was ok as the weather wasn't too hot. He came on time and found the issue right away. There was a slow leak on one of the fittings. He checked all the other fittings and tightened the one that was leaking. He recharged the unit as it was empty. He even zip-tied the insulation around some of the line. He went above and beyond and was done within an hour. Great person, great technician, great service. Just wanted to add an update here. About a year ago, I purchased a new AC unit from Thomson. Over the weekend, my AC stopped working. Called them on Monday morning, and Mike came by later in the afternoon (same day). He figured out that my primary drain line was blocked and the secondary drain line did something to the "float" thingamajig. Within an hour, he had my AC back on and running. It's one thing to have great service when you're a new customer buying something, but wanted to call out the continued great service I received from Thomson AC. I was sorta stressing that the warranty might only be for a year (right now is barely outside a year), but I learned that the labor warranty is actually for 5 YEARS and parts is for 10 or 12 (can't remember exactly, but it was a long ass time). Background Story: Due to the asbestos removal project, both of the ducts of my AC are disconnected. Because of that; I decided to swap out the old 20 years old AIR-FLO since it's already starting to lose refrigerant and the main drain is a rollercoaster. I reached out to several contractors and get quotes and Thomson AC is the one that provided me with best quote. Quoting: Tim came to my house and he spent quite a lot of time to inspect my system, understand my needs and gave me a lot of information regarding what needs to be done. After I got the quote from Tim, I immediately decide to go with Thomson AC because it's just the best quote I can get. I contacted Tim on Saturday and he was able to arrange the installation on Monday! Installation: James and his team arrived on time on Monday morning to start the installation. Everyone in his team is super nice and easy to talk with. James' attention to detail is amazing. He helped resolved quite a lot of issues that pop out during the demolition and installation. He even helps me to swap out my old return grille that cannot hold the filter. All the work are done perfectly, new Bosch premium connected condenser and air handler, 2 new duct system, new 240V electrical box for the new air handler, new air vent boots and registers, and new drain lines. All of these were completed in 4 days in the hot weather in July. Bosch Heat Pump: the unit I got is the new Bosch IDS premium connected(BOVD-36HDN1-M20G). It's super quiet, the condenser is right behind the wall where my bed is but I cannot hear anything when it's running. Also, this inverter heat pump has some unique design that allows it to not require a proprietary thermostat. Love this system and I will definitely choose Bosch and Thomson AC when my other AC stops working in the future read more
