For a company which likes to portray its products, particularly its ranges as high end, the functionality and customer service has been the opposite. We bought a brand new 8 burner stove from Universal Kitchen and Appliances in Costa Mesa. They installed it and it did not work. They came back to examine. Then they came back again, disassembled the entire oven in our entry way, and finally got it to work. We had to wait almost a month with cooking in our kitchen. The brand new expensive Viking did not function. Then we used the smaller oven, it did not work, after waiting 40 minutes in hopes it would heat up. Then next time, it worked. Then it didn't. We arranged for them to back again to fix this. For an expensive new range, this annoying and concerning. We wanted a refund for this lemon. We called Universal who told us to contact Carol at Viking/Middleby. I called Middleby and left messages for Carol. Vanessa also took my call on her behalf once and no one called me back. So I called again then she said I need to talk to Tim. She would not give me his number- only email. I sent 2 emails to him asking him to call me but he refused and never called me. I wish I could switch out for a Wolf range, which apparently is less problematic. read more

Our 10+ year old dryer finally gave out, and I wasn't ready to buy a new one. I googled repair service, called and they informed they can be out the very next day. The gentleman that came to fix the dryer arrived early in the morning and immediately found the problem and was able to fix it! Out of pocket I did pay $270 but it saved me time for shopping for a decent dryer and possibly having to pay for delivery etc. hopefully this dryer will last me another 2/3 years when I'm ready for a new set. read more

Our kitchen hood wasn't working and due to their great reviews scheduled them in for an estimate. We had to pay the cost for the estimate of course which would be included if we took their service which is normal. The experience was great in the beginning from getting the technician scheduled the next day or two including when the technician came over. We apparently needed a part for our hood which they needed to look into and then give us the estimate of the cost of the part plus install. I was told they would get me the quote in a few days. Per the screenshot of our conversation, I gave them a week, followed up and then followed up again and never heard back. So all in all we paid the estimate cost for nothing because we did not end up knowing how much the part was/what part was needed or any other information. It was annoying cos even if we asked another company to come help, we would have to pay the estimate again because we didn't have more info on the current problem. What was funny was (actually not really) my husband ended up guessing and just bought a new hood fan from Amazon and apparently that was the issue. My husband isn't even that handy like 1 out of 10 I would give a 4 (1 being can only change bulbs and 10 to being able to build shelves, fix cars etc.). I'm not sure if this is their kind of business which is just sending techs out for an hour or so to get the estimate costs and not do anything further but it was a waste of time, energy and left me frustrated but I guess it resulted in the husband being slightly more handy. read more

We would NOT recommend this company. Felix came to our home to provide an estimate to repair our oven. He took down the serical number and provided a quote for the full repair. He said we needed to provided a deposit of $100 before he could order the parts and complete the service. We gave him a check which was cashed and have not heard back from the company for 2+ weeks! We have called the 877.648-8777 and are sent to voice mail. We have left 3 messages and also sent a text message. No reply! They have our $100 and we still have an oven in need of repair! read more

I would leave ZERO stars if possible. My elderly father placed a service call for his refrigerator when he was having issues with the warranty company. Technician came out and manipulated wiring. Did not fix issue and VOIDED our warranty because of wiring. Called back and he stated we would not be charged and techician was sent back out to restore fridge to original condition. 2 MONTHS LATER HE CASHED THE CHECK FOR $338 AND TOLD MY 79 YEAR OLD FATHER THAT HE WOULD REFUND AND WE'VE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. The fridge stopped working a week later and there's a burning smell coming from it. Calls and messages have been ignored. The wife and I were a bit on the fence as to whether we should go the REPAIR route or the REPLACE route. Our Whirlpool gas dryer was not high-end and was 12 years old. Per a google search, these appliances last around 10-18 years. That being said, we paid $350 back then and now a comparable dyer would be around $600. As a result, we contacted NonStop Appliance via Yelp and FERUZ responded with a message to my Yelp account almost immediately. We sent a couple of messages back and forth and he gave me a range of possible costs for the issue I was describing but it was still much better than $600. The fee was fair for the appointment to diagnose the issue. We set up the appointment for a couple of days out and we were given a 3 hour window of time in which the tech would arrive. Fortunately, the tech arrived (in a large commercial van) very much on the earlier side of the time window given so my whole morning wasn't occupied with unpleasant home owner stuff. I explained what was happening and he was able to quickly inspect the dryer, troubleshoot it and diagnose that the DOOR SWITCH needed replacing. He returned to the van, came out with the part and replaced it quickly. He gave it a couple of test runs and he was off. All-in-all, about 10-15 minutes of fun and he was off to the races and I left the house to run errands. It wasn't as inexpensive as I thought for a simple repair but I researched it and their pricing is fair for a repair of this type. And it was a heck of a lot cheaper than a $600 dryer replacement fee. Our issue wasn't exactly what I thought it was but you should likely at least google your issue to get a rough ballpark idea of what it may be and then do the math as to how much life your appliance has left. Never ignore the "repair vs. replace" mathematical equation of life. read more

I needed my French door refrigerator/freezer repaired and I needed it repaired FAST, and Felix delivered! Called on a Tuesday and got an appt on Wednesday morning. I didn't hear them at the door the first time they showed up (I work nights and I was knocked out!) but when I called to Otto to explain that I had missed the scheduled appt and he fit me back in rotation within two hours. Felix came back, gave me an estimate, I agreed, he left to get parts and came back to repair my beast....and the whole transaction was completed within 2.5 hours! Felix did a great job, and even made sure my floors were clean before he left. He also made a couple of tweaks to my oven knobs when I mentioned that to him. Competitive prices, quick service, and knowledgeable people...I can highly recommend Universal and United Appliance. Really surprised this place has 5 stars, so consider taking my review with a grain of salt. My complaints are entirely about how they conduct business and their prices, not about services provided. My trash compactor had stopped working and I could hear the motor running however no compacting. Repairman comes over, turns the compactor on and knows exactly whats wrong. Removes the bottom to find a broken plastic gear and says he'll be back tomorrow with the part to repair and gives an estimate. $53 for the repair kit + labor/tax totaling $217, $100 deposit required. Diagnostic time maybe 5-10 minutes MAX. Comes back the next day with the repair kit (which comes with 8 pieces) and fixes the compactor using 1 of said pieces in about another 10 -15 minutes. In total, the repair kit online costs under $30 with shipping and the maximum time the repair man was inside the home was under 30 minutes. I understand being efficient however I see no way this gentleman can justify making $180 an hour for a standard hour labor such as how mechanics charge (or $360 for a true hour) The positives: Trash compactor now works and they were accurate on what time they would be performing said service. NEGATIVES: Ultimately I was very disappointed that I was overcharged for the replacement item by nearly 200% and was charged $180 for 30 minutes of work. There was almost 0 explanation of what was going on and terrible customer service. Would not recommend. At best should have had them come out and do diagnostics and do the actual repair myself. read more

He said that he would come for $55 and then give me the estimate for the washer to be fixed, with my approval they would proceed. My tenant was then slammed with a $205 dollar bill without ANY approval from myself- that I now have to pay for. Nonstop Appliance fixed our 9 year old LG washer that had a broken pump. He had to come back the next day with the part, but he fixed it quickly. On his way out I asked if he could look at my KitchenAid gas stove, because one burner wouldn't start on it's own. I had to use a lighter to get it to light. He quickly fixed that too, an easy fix, he used pliers and straightened the spark/starter. I did appreciate that he fixed both appliances. read more
