We had an excellent experience from our sales person, Shawnie, to the technicians who moved out our old refrigerator and set up the new one. They needed to take off the doors of both refrigerators to get them through our narrow kitchen opening. I purchased approximately $20,000 worth of appliances for my home in Hidden Hills from Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center, also known as WDC Kitchen & Bath. At the time of purchase, their salesperson strongly pushed an extended warranty from a company they work with. I trusted their recommendation and have been paying for that warranty for seven years without ever making a claim. Six months ago I finally needed the warranty to repair my Bosch washing machine. It has still not been repaired. The warranty company has done nothing but delay, make excuses, and avoid fixing the problem. A quick look at their reviews shows that many other customers have had the exact same experience. Since Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center, also known as WDC Kitchen & Bath, sells these warranties and makes a commission from them, I went back to the store expecting them to stand behind what they sell and help resolve the issue. Instead, I was treated as if I had to defend myself for asking for help. While we were explaining the situation, one of the salespeople stood there on his cell phone, clearly showing little interest or concern. If a company is willing to take commissions for selling extended warranties, it should also take responsibility when those warranties fail their customers. In this case, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center, also known as WDC Kitchen & Bath, was happy to take the commission but offered no real support when the product and warranty they promoted failed. Living in Hidden Hills, many of my neighbors invest significant money in high-end appliances and rely on businesses to stand behind what they sell. Well Life Happens... My top of line LG Dryer broke down mid session. After calling LG Helpline, I was ready to buy a new one. I wanted another LG but required it to match my recently replaced washer. MD at Universal Appliances and Kitchen was able to not only locate my "New Dryer" but also match size, color code and accommodate my existing pedestal. That means no need to buy another stand. Scheduled delivery and is now running in my house in under 24-Hours. AMAZING, I even priced checked before and after purchase. I had an awful experience with this company from the sales person all the way to the owner, Igor. I built a new home and we bought all high end appliances. Our order was just under $80k. And I highly recommend any other company, even Home Depot or Loews will be way better. Despite my contractor's warning, I was excited to use Universal. I live in studio city, and we went to the show room there on the corner of Ventura and Laurel. Amer (sales person) seemed to be knowledgeable and sold us a suite of appliances which included a Wolf kitchen, Bosch dishwasher, Truline outdoor refrigerators, and Scottsman icemakers. One year prior to our home being finished we selected and allegedly purchased all of our appliances. I was also attracted to the alleged fact that they install the appliances. When a year later came and we needed the appliances, we never got the Bosch dishwasher, 2 of the appliances were installed wrong, and one of the appliances was defective only to wait 6 months for a part (oh and they don't install anything outside.) I went from the sales person (Amer), to the store manager (Maida), and then the owner (Igor). Igor told me these troubles were caused by me because I purchased the appliances to early. I wish I was that creative to come up with that excuse. I asked Igor what his competitive advantage was with is business. He said, it was his nice showroom which displays the product. So, don't be me and feel guilty seeing a nice showroom of appliances and then purchasing from another vendor that can actually fulfill your order because the owner literally told me that is what I should have done. read more

We had a built-in fridge that died and needed a replacement that would fit like a glove.. no easy feat given how appliance specs change year-to-year, plus the model we had previously was on back-order and the quality had taken a down-turn as well. Ryan went above and beyond in helping us find something that would work. He meticulously took every step to ensure that what he was selling us was not only going to fit our needs today, and that it was also high-quality fridge that would last 20+ years... but equally important, that it would fit in the space we have. Darren was great - he provided guidance in selecting our new washer/dryer, and pointed us toward rebates that helped reduce our costs.

Darren was extremely helpful and knowledgeable during the initial sale. After that it took several months to actually get the units we purchased. Each time I called to enquire on the status "only Darren could update me" and "their website is down." Once the delivery finally happened the installers argued and tried to bilk us out of cash to fulfill what was specifically negotiated and documented in the order. The install was incomplete and we couldn't actually use the dishwasher due to a BS reason about the air gap. I was assured this would be followed up on and resolved - that never happened. I fixed it myself in 10 minutes. Customer service is about finding the right product, fulfilling the order in a timely manner and ensuring the post sale install and service is completed properly. A 5 star for a sale and 1 star for the rest results in an average of 2 stars. This is not how to earn a repeat customer Universal. I am universally disappointed. read more

We purchased all of our appliances for our kitchen remodel and MD made sure we got a great deal. He was very thorough, sending the specs of each appliance to make sure our contractors knew exactly how to build for them. He was always available throughout the process for questions and was prompt in his response time. Universal Appliance offers an inspection before the appliances arrive, it's a must! After spending hours on the phone (and FaceTime) to ensure our measurements were accurate and that a replacement fridge would fit our space, he even showed up to our installation when it became apparent that our interior doorframes were going to be an issue for the installers to navigate. I spent over $20,000 in the Calabasas store last month on Wolf products and the store inputted us the wrong blower/hood for the downdraft we bought from Wolf. However, over 1 week, we cannot get this exchanged and we are moving in very soon. Now the real kicker and the reason I am writing this review and will be on every platform... is because of the store manager Jesse. He is rude, condescending and unprofessional. Does not find solutions. Today on a phone call he raised his voice, shouting through the phone, and pretty much was screaming on the phone, because he said I was raising my voice. Like a childish game. Seriously in shock. Are you a manager here to help people or are you a child or someone off the street fighting with a customer on the phone? He is absolutely not fit for the role and I'd be surprised if he lasts more than a few more months. I would never ever hire someone like him. If he treats us like this, then I can only imagine how many other poor experiences you have had. I run a massive business... and I would never hire someone like this. Jesse is a bad representation for your company Universal. Because of him, I will never ever shop or ever recommend anyone here. Im even considering contacting Wolf management directly over this. As a manager, your job is to support and help your customers, not treat them horrendously. On the other hand, Dylan the sales associate, although he made a mistake on the wrong blower for us, has been nice and great to work with from the very beginning. He texted me and acknowledged the mistake and told us the correct blower we need. He has not resolved this and dragging his feet, but I found out today why. It's the store manager. I had a really bad experience with Universal. I bought a fridge and stove from them, and the fridge turned out to be a really old unit that had clearly been sitting in their store for a long time. Even the fridge manufacturer (Liehber ) was shocked it was still there which made me wonder if it was damaged or defective and they just wanted to get rid of it. Universal also did the installation, and they did it wrong. Because of that, we had a leak in our kitchen for nearly a year before someone figured out what was causing it , and it turned out to be their poor installation. Even now, the freezer is still giving us problems. The icemaker doesn't work properly and we're still dealing with the issues. Overall, I had a terrible experience with this company. I would not recommend them to anyone. And the worst part? In the end, they told me not to contact them anymore and to deal with the manufacturer myself. Completely unprofessional and disappointing. Save yourself the trouble , go somewhere else. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

Considering that this was all done over the phone, Ryan patiently explained refrigerator features, prices, and delivery schedules and never got the slightest bit frustrated with our questions. I bought a Smeg fridge from Universal and couldn't be happier! Oscar was so helpful in getting me my fridge sooner than a competitor. He was so nice and very communicative and made sure I was aware of the status of my delivery every step of the way. And the delivery was A+! I was so worried it would get damaged because my stairs are narrow and they had to unbox it in order for it to fit. The delivery guys took great care and didn't put a scratch on it! I will certainly go back when it's time to replace my stove! FYI - if you are looking for Smeg appliances, not many places sell them so don't hesitate to stop in and talk to Oscar! We purchased a GE Cafe refrigerator from Universal Appliance. It was delivered and installed mid July. Did not work. They sent their service tech to see if they could figure out why. Service tech could not determine. They said they would call GE to schedule a service tech from their warranty team. No show. Ask Universal to return/refund since the product we purchased is broken. They say no. I call GE directly to set up an appointment. They come out and say the compressor is bad. They can order new parts but parts are back ordered until end of October. In between all of this (weeks) I've made calls to Universal - the sales person and manager - who promise to get to the bottom of it. Never call me back. Never resolved. Emailed today (now sept 4) informing them of the situation, and asking to simply exchange it since they sold me a fridge that doesn't work. Told me they can't; and I'd have to deal with GE on the warranty. Beyond frustrating. I'm calling AMEX to see if I can still dispute the charge and flag the business since they sold me a bill of goods and basically said, sorry - not our problem. I'm sure they are nice people, they have been extremely nice on the phone. but no customer should ever have to deal with a company that does not stand behind the products they sell to their customers. If I buy something that doesn't work, I should be able to return it no questions asked. That doesn't appear to be the case with Universal. Side note, my wife is an interior designer. I purchased a Thermador Appliance Bundle from Universal in February of 2024. When it was time for my delivery, their salesman, Darren Zellner, informed me that they did not have the kitchen hood and that it was probably delivered to another customer even though I paid for it as part of the bundle package. It took an extra six weeks for delivery. Neither, Darren nor Jesse, the manager, helped me with the issues. They did not return my telephone calls. In fact, I had to return to the store to speak with Darren about my delivery. Darren admitted he has a problem returning telephone calls. I would strongly recommend that you get your appliances elsewhere. read more

We ordered a whole set of kitchen appliances at the beginning of February, at which time we were told we would have everything by the end of June. That did not happen and we were constantly being given the run-around by the salesperson, MD, as to what would be delivered and when. By the end of July we still did not have all of the items we ordered AND PAID FOR months earlier. In August, we finally gave up and tried to cancel the final item, a non-name brand warming drawer, and requested a refund. (We then went to Home Depot, which delivered in two days.) The refund was another fight. The sales person eventually, after a number of calls and e-mails, promised a refund, but it still took until the end of August to actually get the refund. I was at the start of a kitchen remodel when I visited Universal Appliance. I needed everything (refrigerator, dishwasher, range top, downdraft and microwave). It was my intention to look at what they had to offer and shop a couple of other places prior to making a decision. When I walked in Md approached me immediately asking if he could help. I informed him of what I was shopping for and told him I was only interested in Subzero/Wolf. He was extremely helpful and was careful to describe and show me the displays and the pros and cons of each item. He then sat with me and gave me the price of everything including delivery and installation with any discounts the manufacturer was currently offering and told me he could have the specs to my remodelers by the following day. Because Md was so professional and knew the appliances well enough to guide me to the appliances that would be most compatible for my kitchen, I signed a contract and put down a deposit on that day. I wanted to work with Md because he made it easy for me to make choices by thoroughly explaining the benefits of certain appliances and asking good questions about how I used them. It was weeks later before my kitchen was done, but Md kept in touch with me and my remodelers and made sure all of the specs were correct. I couldn't have been more delighted when my appliances were delivered and installed. The installers were polite and professional. They cleaned up behind themselves and made sure each appliance worked correctly and gave me an overview of each one before they left. Md got in touch with me while things were being installed to make sure everything was going well, even though it happened to be his day off. Our wolf microwave died and we needed a replacement. I was initially surprised that every place I looked at online had "call for quote". After talking with Jesse on the phone at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center I realized these are ordered as needed rather than stocked like at Home Depot. Jesse was fantastic! He checked to make sure the new model (MC24) was the right replacement for my older one (MWC24) and confirmed that the trim kit was the same as well - the trim kit fit is important to maintain that "built in" look. (Notice that a less reputable company could have tried to upsell me a trim kit I ultimately wouldn't need). The delivery took a few weeks, but Jesse proactively kept me updated via email throughout the process, and even checked in about how the delivery went. The delivery guys were also courteous and handled the package with care, setting it carefully down in my garage. And true to Jesse's word, the microwave fits and looks great with the existing trim kit. read more

First, after owning many Miele's I strongly warn against their VERY expensive appliances. It is hard for me to give Universal one star because for many years I felt well taken care of as a customer. Somehow, because I never had a problem before I suppose, it was always easy-- great appliances, on time delivery-- However I have just had a recent experience which has obliterated my goodwill toward this company. After buying Wolf, Sub-Zeros, Kitchen Aid... the listen goes on... even Miele-- I recently purchased a Miele washing machine machine and dryer-- they quickly delivered and installed it; they ran it to see that it worked. But really, it just turned I on-- it didn't occur to me we should make sure it doesn't just turn on but also runs through all its cycles. It was installed 1/8/24. Today is 2/8/24, and it has yet to work. My husband called Universal immediately and the email response was that they would reach out to Miele (what?-- just take the machine back and give me one that works)--Oh-- they are a wharehouse so once they deliver it's not their issue. I am currently dealing with Miele directly and they have done nothing so far as well. I will add that I purchased a new Miele dishwasher from Universal last year when I remodeled my kitchen... guess what... after 6 months of that machine not working I finally got Miele to replace it. I'm exhausted and have a lot of dirty clothes AND am out $5,813.00..... NOT HAPPY-- a lot to pay to get a non-working appliance that no-one is moving with any urgency on. ‍. We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and we came in looking for new appliances. We worked with Jessie, the store manager, who could not have been more helpful. He was so knowledgeable about the appliances in the store, the different models, and asked us tons of questions to determine what we needed. We never felt like we were being pushed into spending more - he really wanted to find the appliances that fit our needs. We were able to find quality appliances at the right price point for our needs. Although it was a bit of a drive for us, we are so happy that we found Universal Appliance. I find it interesting that the owner of this company is responding to this now. Let's not get this twisted people. My original review still stands as my experience working with Igor's company, for the majority of my interactions with them, remain the same. However, AFTER my negative review a lovely employee, apparently a new manager, did go above and beyond to get a refrigerator door handle returned for me. As I stated in my original review, multiple calls didn't result in any help in any way, but a bad review here seems to do the trick. As to this part of Igor's response "It took the showroom manager quite some time to get a response from you, to allow him to even understand and resolve your issue. According to his accounting of the facts, you were either out of town or unresponsive to his inquiries to resolve this." This is HYSTERICAL! Are you kidding me? I dealt with you people close to a year and YOU'RE frustrated because I don't jump at returning your emails to do something you should have done already!? Last time I checked, you didn't hire me or buy goods or services from me. That is basically the definition of gaslighting sir. In addition, once the handle was returned, I was then emailed a couple of times asking that I take down my original review. Um...No. Maybe if the team at Universal had been even a fraction as dilligent in communication and customer service as this new manager seems to be trying to be, I wouldn't have written a bad review in the first place.
