However, the food choices are pretty abundant and the movie theater is a great place to take in a film. Fun shopping and dining options that are even better than the Universal City Walk in Los Angeles. I really like the look and feel of the restaurants and shops here. The Restaurants are constantly changing here, and though they are touristy they are quite fun. We really enjoyed the addition of the Chocolate Factory and Voodoo doughnuts here. There's something for everyone. Surf shops, snacks, restaurants, mall strip food, mini golf. There's something for you and your family to do and see here. Let's get right to the point. I took my family here (3rd time) this past weekend. We made the mistake of waiting to buy our lanyards and pouches for the fast passes and paid dearly for it. Nearly $70 for three sets, what a joke. You would think that a place who really hasn't upgraded most of their attractions and restaurants for twenty years would understand not to take every penny from their guests. Because of this one thing we never went into any of their stores, so where they gained money for one thing they lost it in another. The only good thing is the free parking after 6 pm, which doesn't really help you for riding rides, but does to eat dinner in the City Walk and even then when staying at the Doubletree Hilton, you can walk the distance and save the headache. read more

There is a ton of stuff here! We came down here twice during our stay for work events. First night here, our event rented out a portion of the promenade for a private party. We had access to all the restaurants in the area (Pat O'Briens, Bob Marley and everything else in that row). They had appetizers and small bites to eat outside, and we had access to drinks inside all the restaurants/bars. Fun times. Second time here, we walked around and wound up eating dinner as well as getting some donuts. SOOOOOO many people, but still enough room to chill and hang out. They have everything you want. Go in and make sure you get tickets for the wax museum and the Ferris wheel, the Ferris wheel portion goes around once but there is a bar to purchase beers of coolers for the ride. We asked through here a few times for access in and out of the Universal theme parks. Other than that we only visited 1 restaurant. The flow seems good - spread out, easy parking. I loved all the moving walkways which made the long journey to and from parking a bit easier - especially at the end of a long theme park day. I didn't really need to visit any of the stores as the small amount of souvenir shopping we did was inside the theme parks and the rest of the stores weren't anything too unique (sportswear, movie theatre, food, etc). It was quite clean. I didn't see any overflowing trash cans, trash scattered around, etc. That was nice. Since masks were optional for all guests I can't really say anything about mask enforcement in stores/restaurants. read more

Universal CityWalk is the name given to the 12 acre, three level entertainment and retail complex surrounding Universal Studios. On November 15,1995 Universal announced plans to open E-Zone, the east coast version of CityWalk. Just prior to opening in 1998 the name was changed to CityWalk like its west coast counterpart. It was created to be along a small lake with a plaza that offered views into Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. It was designed with a Florida theme with water features, lush landscaping, and neon. To attract locals Universal dropped the parking fee in the garage after 6 PM which doubled attendance and attracted business away from Disney's Pleasure Island. Today to get to CityWalk you park in a multi level garage. You then take two moving sidewalks into CityWalk. From CityWalk you can enter Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. There are 26 dining options in CityWalk. They include the new Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, Hard Rock Cafe Orlando, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and Voodoo Doughnuts. Entertainment includes Universal Cinemark, Red Coconut Club, Hollywood Drive In Golf, and the Blue Man Group. Eight stores are available for your shopping pleasure including Universal Studios Store, Fresh Produce, Fossil, and the Island Clothing Co. CityWalk is a destination in itself even if you are not going to the theme parks. By the time I stumbled out of Halloween Horror Nights well past midnight, CityWalk was still going strong. The line at Voodoo Doughnuts was well out the door and down the sidewalk. Don't use valet parking!! I used to visit universal studios very frequently. After some financial issues and medical problems I tend to only visit on special occasions in this case a Halloween horror nights event. Back to medical issues because this is where the good review ends. My ticket was paid for by somebody else so I paid for valet parking just take advantage of the easy in and out of the park. After having a great time at the park and pick it up my car from valet being that was 2:00 a.m. and we just wanted to get back to the hotel room. Once we reached the hotel room we find out my prescription medication is missing out of my car. Early entry to the park was at 3:00 but we could have access to the hotel room until 4:00 so we went to the park I left the medication in the cup holder so I remember to take it when we left and I remember to take it at the hotel room. Sadly the young guy who parked my car decided my prescriptions were better tip than what I was going to tip him anyway and decide to remove that from my vehicle. I called customer service and they didn't care and we're unable to help and told me to go back to the park. I went back to the park I had to fill out a form with the head of security and a form with some risk management person. They were supposed to do an investigation and fire this little punk. What they chose not to do, was to respond back to me or follow up to me. It turns out when a theft occurs at the park do not rely on the park to do their job. You must call the police department and bring the police down there and file a police report and a security report because they will not follow up and will shred your report and pretend like it never happened. The kids probably the son of one of the park managers so they swept it under the rug and shoot me off and never followed up. At universal Orlando valet parking theft is not only acceptable by Park standards it should be expected by Park guests. I paid these people $80 to park my car and steal $200 worth of products and prescriptions out of my car. Because they've chose to not follow up I only action of recourse is to do a full charge back of all the expenses from universal studios that night. I wish I could say I was sorry about this but you stole $200 from me but I paid you money to steal my money. There's no excuse for theft! When your parking cars your insurance requires you that you document the person that parked every car and the person that picked up every car. Therefore is investigation should take all of about 5 minutes and here we are almost 5 Weeks later and nothing. I'm not discouraging anybody from visiting the parks or special events. I'm highly discouraging you from using their overpriced valet parking who will remove items from your car. It'll be the most expensive valet parking you've ever gone to once you find out what items have been stolen from your vehicle. Then it becomes more expensive when you're wasting your time filling out reports that are getting thrown away instead of going to work and making money or spending time with your family on vacation. This was so terrible that I don't know if I will freak with the park next Halloween horror nights. I'll probably have to take a long-term vacation from visiting the universal studios Orlando properties until sometime after Super Nintendo land has been open. It's so sad to see this happen until theme park that I frequent and enjoy. The bottom line is never used valet parking at universal properties. read more

Every time we go to Universal Studios/Island Adventure we never have time to really check out Universal CityWalk Orlando. It always looks so lively, so we decided to go and solely check out the CityWalk. Our final opinion, meh, we weren't missing anything. Universal CityWalk Orlando is made up of shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and a mini golf course. The restaurants seem like the food could be better than what you get in the parks, but restaurants outside of the CityWalk would be even better. The only caveat to that is the VooDoo Doughnuts located on the CityWalk. Their donuts are amazing, and worth stopping and grabbing one on the way into the Universal Parks. There are a few good stores on the CityWalk but nothing you would need to make a special trip to the CityWalk for. If you run into a few on your way into or out of the Universal Parks, that's all you need. This is no Disney Springs. The absolute largest downfall of Universal CityWalk Orlando, which is reason alone why you should skip visiting it unless you are already visiting one of the Universal theme parks, is it costs $30 to park. It does not matter if you are not going into the theme parks, it costs $30 to park, unless you are going to see a movie. Overall, our solo trip to Universal CityWalk Orlando was very disappointing, and costly (parking). Fortunately, now we can stop wondering - there is nothing to see/do here beyond what you see on your way into/out of Universal Studios/Island Adventure. read more

Tonight went in to enjoy an occasion at rising star and was turned away because we had our faces painted, was told HHN wasn't allowing any masks or costumes but we weren't goin there we were trying to to enjoy the establishment Rising star in city walk. One of the best things about the business conference i attended recently in Orlando was that the hotel the conference was at (Loews Sapphire) was so close to Universal City Walk and connected by ferry to it. Had lots of great dining experience here and I partied hard one night until closing at 2 a.m... and when it was over I was sad/upset it closed at 2 a.m. Wished my conference had lasted longer... there were other places I wanted to try that I couldn't... and experienced to relish and remember that I would have loved to do. Alas business trips only allow you to have only some time for fun... and I did all thanks to this amazing place! Lol also loved they had the spinning globe of Universal that plays at the start of their movies. CityWalk has so many great places to dine and other entertainment and while at Universal or Island of Adventures, it makes sense to me to visit but find it rather annoying that you have to go through all the check in process while not visiting the parks. It has more than enough to keep you there for the whole day - coffee shops, bagel store, retail stores, different kind of food/restaurants, entertainment with great music and bars. It is a fun place to visit and spend time to explore. Some spots also give you good view of the Universal Studios Globe for photo opportunity. The only issue is that it is way crowded at night. Foods can be ordered through the Universal Studios official APP. We visited the theme park, came to CityWalk for lunch and relax a bit before we headed back to the theme park for more rides. My kids had a great time eating desserts in one of the CityWalk places. read more

The night vibe is incredible, from live music and entertainment to awesome illumination. I recommend going to this place even if you're not visiting the parks. Who doesn't like Citywalk, it's a short walk from the Lyft/Uber drop-off or from parking your vehicle in the humongous parking garage. There's several shops, themed restaurants and a circular plaza with water/bay in the middle. There bay has water taxis/ferries commuting visitors to their resorts/hotels that are affiliated by universal studios. This place is a beautiful place for family and people to just chill! There are shops, restaurants, and all sorts of things to do! They even have an outdoor seating area near the stage where music is played and little shows are put on! When we went, we were able to see a hula hooping contest which was quite entertaining! CityWalk is one of the reasons why Universal is equally enjoyable next to Disney. I love that you can walk right out to a plethora of options right at your finger tips. Keep in mind Citywalk doesn't truly open up until lunchtime. If your looking for breakfast then enjoying meals at one of the Universal resorts are a great option. When we were tourist in Orlando Loews Royal Pacific was our favorites out of all the Universal Studio properties and we really enjoyed their breakfast options. You can also hitch a ride from the resort directly to Citywalk as a guest with the Royal Pacific. Back to Citywalk where you can enjoy shopping, fast food, formal dining, amusement, shows, and night clubs all in one place. The options are truly endless and if you wanted to enjoy it could take a day in itself. Catch a movie, play some mini golf, checkout some late night shows at the main stage, or take pics with peeps on stilts. Plan on a fun night out dancing or partaking in Karaoke? Than its best to purchase a CityPass or checkout Groupon since the cover charges range from 20-50 dollars. A few favorites spots to grub at Citywalk are Red Oven, Cowfish, Vivo, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium (Quickserve for milkshakes cause service can be shaky), and of course Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. All in all if your looking for some local amusement or visiting the area but don't necessarily want to be in theme parks, the parking fee for CityWalk is worth experiencing. read more

I gave it a 3 because the place was packed even though the heat and humidity were intense, but for my standards it's more a 2. A place to eat and hang out. Most of the restaurants were outdoors seating (no air-conditioning) Not very well organized. Very, very dirty. Don't even think of going to the bathrooms, the floor was disgusting. Wow, this place is huge! I think our CityWalk in LA is only about 10% of this massive place. I'm not kidding! Before entering Universal Studios, you will actually pass by this place. I like that it's so open and in a circular shape so you can easily go from entrance to exit without missing any establishment in this whole area. We came around 6pm when free parking begins. Not sure how much is the actual fee but with the humid Florida weather, I think coming here onwards from 6pm is just perfect. I saw similar stores that we have in LA such as Hard Rock Cafe, Voodoo Doughnuts, and Bubba Gump although they are much bigger in size. According to their website, there's a total of 129 dining establishments here. That doesn't even include theaters, shopping and shows. It's so big that they even have 4 Starbucks here. A really nice place to hangout while in Orlando. No fee to enter but everyone needs to pass through strict security which could be a hassle to some but I do welcome it for everyone's protection. read more
