Been there three times and while the food is basic bar food and OK (burgers are safe) the service is horrible and comes with attitude. Sought out management with issues and realized the attitude must start with management. First, the Steinbech Burger was excellent. We enjoyed lunch here after a morning of Ziplining . It is a college bar full of life and excitement, although as an older couple with teenagers we were still made to feel very welcome. The staff was both helpful and respectful to us. My wife and I ate there for the first time today! Fantastic food! My wife loved her chicken tacos and my Bleu Cheese and bacon burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. On a fluke, we ended up here, and it was a very delightful "accident." Grilled chicken and arugula salad is amazing. Pulled pork tacos were delicious. Texas margarita was one of the best I've ever had. Staff was great, and the atmosphere is super cute. Inside seating is limited, and they do have quite a bit of seating outside. We ate here 3 times on a recent trip to the mountains. Each time it was a real treat. My wife, who is a vegetarian, was very pleased to see a black bean burger that they made in house. She ordered a black bean burger and salad each time. I had a burger, the Philly brisket, and a lunch special NY strip sandwich all of which were delicious. The pretzels with the stoneground mustard may be the best kept secret on the menu. What a cool concept with great food. A new favorite when we travel through Clayton. read more

The rating is more for the service than the food. We ate here last night after a day of hiking nearby. The place was super busy around 6.30 pm. We had a party of 11 and didn't have to wait too long for a table, but we were spilt up and sitting at different tables. We were starving and didn't mind too much. The service was a bit slow getting our drink and food orders. Our waitress seemed annoyed with having a big party from the get go and appeared very snappy and irritated. She had to repeat the specials and draft selections because the music and atmosphere was really loud and we couldn't hear from one end of the table to the other and that seemed to bother her to do that. I ordered the pineapple japenero draft beer and then after waiting for awile was told they were out of that. Then I ordered the Skye burger and again later told they were out of that. So I went with the black bean burger, but I was charged for the a regular burger. Closing out the checks took forever and it was already getting pretty late for the drive back to Atlanta, I couldn't bother with getting it corrected. Everyone did enjoy their food though. So come for the food, but don't expect great service especially if they are busy which usually they are. So it's a trade-off I guess. Cool idea turning an old service station into a hip burger joint. They were setting up a stage outside for the upcoming warm weather months which will be great. read more

We went for lunch April 21, 2018. The girl who seats customers was useless and totally out of it. We found our own table. Our waiter, Mario, was very polite. We ordered and he brought us our drinks. I asked for a straw. He acted like I committed a crime against the nation. He went on and on about our oceans and pollution and why they don't give out straws. I looked around and noticed that all of the customers at other tables had straws in their drinks. Is this guy for real. His job title is "server," no one cares about his opinions or beliefs. If he did a little research instead of running his mouth he would find out that 60% of the garbage that is polluting our ocean comes from China, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Philippines, and Thailand. These countries have had a lot of economic growth, but have no facilities to take care of their garbage. The internet is a warehouse of knowledge. The food was fair. Nothing to write home about. Won't be going back there. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! The food was so flavorful, well prepared, and the presentation was pretty. The meals were all a generous portion. The waitress was so sweet and was always checking up on us even though she was slammed with customers. The manager (or owner, I'm not really sure which) stopped at every table to say hello. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was exciting and lively! There are times when there's a long wait for seating because they're so popular, but waiting is totally worth it. To begin with, the wait was extremely unreasonable, and they didn't really seem to want to hurry the process along. There were many open tables, and the workers were too lazy to get anyone seated. However, once we were finally seated, our waiter was very nice and our food came in a timely fashion. The food was very delicious!! The atmosphere of the place wasn't my favorite, what with the tables crammed so close together and the mediocre band blaring in my ears the whole time, but over all, this was a pretty good dining experience. I would imagine most people have their favorite watering hole they frequent where "everyone knows their name." And while we were staying in Clayton only one night, it was not long before everyone knew our name as well. For you see, it just happened to be trivia night at the Universal Joint... and the first order of business was choosing a team name. Given the unseasonably cold temperatures northern Georgia had experienced the last two nights, it came to me in a creative flash (or maybe after a quick brew) that our name should be "Witches Titties"...as in it was colder than that at the moment :) So while we absolutely sucked at trivia, at least our name redeemed us and we were awarded a free round of drinks. After the trivia game ended, the revelry continued with several of the locals giving the snazzy karaoke machine a go. Generally the idea sounds much better than the actual execution. But that evening there were several patrons who stepped up to the plate and belted out a few tunes...proving once again that karaoke sounds--and girls look--better as the evening progresses! read more

After a hot hike through tallish falls and a shower we checked out Clayton. UJ was perfect great service a good selection of beer on draft. The food was awesome I had the in house smoked brisket dip, hubby ordered in house smoked pulled pork sandwich. I opted for a side salad it was nice, fries where yummy with the pork. read more

Was at the universal joint recently. Seemed like it would be a good place to go watch the NBA playoff game and have a few drinks. Most places in the area close early, but this one says on their FB page as well as here on Yelp that they're open until midnight. Inconsistent. We are local and have loved this place. Tonight, server was in over her head and the kitchen was staffed by a novice. Husband's burger was way underdone and our tater tots (which are usually EXCELLENT), were undercooked, soft and soggy. The garage doors were open and when they closed them because it was cooling off, the restaurant filled with the smell of the grill and fryer. They were really busy so we placed our order as soon as we could. It was after 1pm on a beautiful Tuesday October day. The staff was some what over whelmed but as long as you were drinking (we weren't) they gave you great service. After we placed our order, our server nevever came back to check on us. I asked the hostess to check on our order after 45 min to find that it had not been turned in. Needless to say we left hungry and don't plan to return. read more
