I would not go with any other painter besides Universal Painting. Steven and his son Ryan our great to work with. They truly care about their business and their employees. Their crew literally attacked our house and did a fabulous job painting it. I wouldn't go with anyone else.

What a pleasure it was to work with Steve, Ryan, Roman and the entire Universal Painting crew for a second time. Their attention to detail, punctuality and quality of work is above reproach! They power washed, painted and touched up our entire exterior as well as or outdoor patio cover in a matter of a couple days! I would highly recommend them for any of your painting needs! A++

Body of the house is Colonial Revival Gray (satin) and the trim work is Alabaster (gloss) for all the trim work and garage doors.

We recently had Universal Painting paint the exterior of our home. From the initial consultation with the owners son Ryan to the picking of colors that would go great with the brick work on the front of our home all went perfectly. They came out a week or so prior to the painting day and pressure washed the house to prep it for paint. A couple days later they had a couple guys go around the house fixing any dry rot, they used caulking in all the gaps in the siding and stucco patch for the cracks in the stucco. On paint day we had (14) painters swarm our house all at once. They had (2) paint sprayers painting all the different areas of the house while others back-rolled the paint along with starting to cut in all the trim work. They have a special paint sprayer just for doors. Our front doors and our side garage door have never looked so good. They both look like they are brand new even though they are 35 years old. All in all we are vey pleased with how the paint turned out. I've gone over the house looking for any "holidays" in the paint and I haven't found any so far. They really did a great job with the painting. The Sherwin Williams Super Paint has a reputation for being a great paint so we will have to see how it holds up over the next decade or so. We went with Colonial Revival Gray (satin) for the body of the house and Alabaster (gloss) for the trim on the house and those two colors work beautifully together giving the house a very clean and fresh look. It goes perfectly with our brick columns and sidewalk also. All in all we are extremly happy with how things have turned out and look forward to possibly hiring Universal Painting to paint the inside of our home in the coming years.

    Finished product

Steve and Ryan, the owners were so easy to deal with. They might have been a tad higher than other quotes but they got the job done exactly as explained and finished in one day. The crew chief was a terrific leader and kept the ten person crew on task doing meticulous work. we have a two story house and they had guys that climbed the ladders to the top carrying bucket, freaking me out, but handling everything like professionals. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering painting their house.

The finished front door security screen. Can hardly tell it's even there when the front door is shut!

Unfortunately the paint job shows a lot of chipping, despite the fact that we are extremely careful. Would not use again!

Steve provided my mom a bid with a list of everything that would be done, explained things to her and it was quick and simple. Other companies were a bit way too much for what my mom wanted to do, although nice to be aware of other options but it wasn't what she wanted and the quote was double to triple what Steve quoted. Steve was able to schedule out 3-4 weeks for our paint job, he called a couple days before to let us know when he'd be out. First day was power wash and walk through of what colors my mom wanted and where each color would go specifically. My mom is pretty agreeable to anything and she was going to let Steve decide but he told her "I want you to be happy with it." I appreciated that, shows he wanted his customer to be satisfied and not just get the job done. Steve's team did everything he said would be done, made sure to cover and mask off everything. Walk through was done and only a few little spots my mom wanted touched up and Steve took care of it. My mom enjoyed talking to his team and they appreciated it as well. Very satisfied customer, thanks Steve + team!

The business has a verified license and strong reviews, so I expected a professional, well-executed job. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the start, there were issues with preparation and masking -- several areas were not properly covered, leading to paint bleed, overspray, and uneven lines. The paint coverage was inconsistent, with visible thin spots and missed sections that had to be pointed out repeatedly. The company returned three separate times to fix problems, but each visit revealed new issues that still weren't fully resolved. Even after all the follow-ups, the final result remains substandard. There are areas with bubbling and poor adhesion that suggest improper surface prep, and overall the finish lacks uniformity. Communication was polite, but the repeated callbacks and the need to constantly monitor quality made the process frustrating and time-consuming. For the cost and time involved, I expected far better workmanship. While the team made efforts to correct problems, the job ultimately fell short of professional standards, and I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

I have serious concerns about Kanaka Inc. after an incredibly frustrating experience with Darren…read moreValle for what was supposed to be a straightforward kitchen remodel and bathroom model, and a new pitched roof, so that I could prepare to rent out my starter home. Here are the main issues: (1) Bidding Issues: I was initially quoted $37,800 for what I understood to be a new pitched roof. However, I later learned this was only for repairing a small portion, costing me $11,247.50 upfront, without any adjustment after repeated requests. (2) Timing: The project, initially scheduled to start in April 2024 and be finished by May 2024, dragged on for nine months. Every time I followed up, Darren had a new excuse. (3) Roof Leaks and Flooding: Kanaka Inc. flooded my garage due to improper roof covering during construction, at a time when the garage was full of new appliances, construction materials and my personal belongings. Post-construction, I also dealt with a significant roof leak in the main bedroom, causing further damage. I had to hire additional contractors and pay them for emergency tarping, dehumidification services, and a new roof. (4) Permitting Problems: The project caused my home to be vacant for months due to permitting issues, since they demoed my home before securing a permit. (5) Lost Revenue: I lost 6+ months of potential rental income because the property was not ready by the expected completion date. (6) Incomplete Work: I paid Kanaka a total of $62,925.00 for the bathroom and kitchen remodel. After Darren confirmed with my rental management company that he was abandoning the job, I had to hire even more contractors to finish basic elements in the bathroom and kitchen, which were left incomplete and improperly done. This included hauling away old appliances, hooking up gas lines, completing a faucet install, and removing the trim on my kitchen window so the refrigerator had sufficient clearance to open. I still don't have an oven, certain cabinets don't have sufficient clearance to open, and my bathroom window is still missing outside trim. (7) Lack of Integrity and Accountability: Throughout the project, I was lied to about the quality of the work and when the work would be completed. For example, I was asked to pay $10,000 for completion of the bathroom remodel before the plumbing was even hooked up. After requesting a partial refund in the amount of $18,543 to help address some of the above issues and to complete the work, I was told "I am not going to be able to pay this amount as I have no jobs or workers." Overall, this experience was a financial and emotional drain. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring Kanaka Inc. for any reason. They overcharged, underperformed, and left me in a worse situation than when I started.

A fair price was agreed upon and I told Victor I was happy to wait as long as he needed to work me in. ( He had several larger jobs on the books already). To my delight, he called yesterday and today, June 22, the doors are repaired and repainted and look as handsome as they did when I first purchased my home. Victor is a very easy gentleman with whom to do business. His painters are polite, conscientious, precise and quick. He was fantastic to work with, gave us almost daily updates, asked all the right questions versus guessing on stuff (a common issue with many other contractors), and addressed any thoughts, ideas or concerns within 1 day. It was by far the best experience we have ever had with a contractor and would recommend and use him again in a heartbeat!!
