I purchased a subaru with service records dating back to date of purchase. All the work on the vehicle was done by this place. I've taken my vehicle to a place with two certified Subaru mechanics in Anchorage. Both places noticed very bad mechanic work done on the vehicle all corresponding to the service records I had. The bad mechanic work includes and not limited to the the wrong bolts in the wrong spots, missing bolts, faulty gaskets, and more. My suggestion is to stay away from this place. read more

Alaska Chevron is a really great place to take your business! This is local business and family business at it's finest. I asked many, many questions but I never got the feeling from any of them that it was too many questions. Every employee I talked to, whether on the phone or in person, was friendly and professional. To understand the good you need to know the bad. Following is my review on Pearson's Auto which was only redeemed by a good honest experience with Tyler and Austin at Chevron on Illinois St. Also note, I would avoid the Chevron Station owned by Simard's on Gaffney. About Pearson's Auto: Click funnel hell! I had a clear diagnosis of a broken power steering line from Seekins but they couldn't get me for 60 days so I called around and Pearsons said they could do that day. I asked for a quote up front- they said they couldn't quote me for the work until I paid $100 for an evaluation (Click). Being naive and feeling like I needed the work done, I said OK and dropped the car off. I got a call a couple hours later in which they outlined miscellaneous work they would like to do for over $2k. The power steering hose replacement was priced as follows: $622 for the repair (wow that seems high). Wait, there is another click coming...In order to get that work done you have to pay an additional $165 for power steering service (Click). So the power steering line repair was going to cost me, $787. That seemed high and the other work was a ridiculous list of odds and ends that were not needed as I had another inspection to compare it to. I told the service rep to wait and not do any work while I did some research. He said fine and that he would email me the list of work. When I received the quote from the sales rep via email all of the power steering work was listed as "In progress, cleared by customer to do the work." I thought I must have read wrong so I called them up and sure enough they said there must have been a miscommunication. I asked them again to stand down while I did some research. Had I not noticed that, I would have been on the hook for an $800 repair. Next I checked the same repair I had done by Seekins a year earlier and it was only $400. By this time I was getting bothered. I called Chevron on Illinois St and told them I had a diagnosis from Seekins and needed the high pressure line repaired. Can you believe it they were able to give me a quote for that with no questions asked. And here I thought that was impossible. Chevron quoted $550. I picked up my van from Pearsons Click Funnel Hell Auto and dropped it at Chevron. The same day Chevron called and said the aftermarket part didn't fit and they had to order from Nissan but would cover the additional cost and rush the part. Wow what a contrast. Thanks Chevron. On another note, I had a similar Pearson experience with Simard Auto and paid $180 for a oil change but that is a story from another time. I feel so sad for all the people who are hoodwinked by the click funnels that take advantage of us ignorant non-mechanic types. read more

Alaska Chevon Service gave us the most amazing service, and kept us on the road and on schedule, despite having to replace our entire rear brake system. Drove into Fairbanks on a Friday with about 1500 miles of muck and mud from dirt roads we'd been on - in the rain. They set us up for Saturday, took us first thing, and gave us a diagnosis by noon - calipers coated solid and pads and rotors eaten by the grit. Had to wait for parts from Anchorage, but once they got them, we were out of there in time for a couple days around town, then back on schedule to Denali. We'll stop there anytime we're in need in Fairbanks again. read more

Prompt tire repair on my travel trailer, thank you! And reasonably priced. I called first to ask if I could come in within the hour and they took my trailer as soon as I showed up, working efficiently to plug the tire and get me back on the road. The other tire place I called didn't even answer the phone, but this Chevron service station had enough staff to keep all incoming jobs moving through. I highly recommend them. read more

I've worked with Fairbanks mechanics for 40 years, including 12 years responsibility for a 16-vehicle fleet, so I know a thing or two about cars. I've never heard so many excuses for delaying, plus they broke an attachment point for what should have been a simple repair (replacing rear shock assembly). They claimed they couldn't get the part new or used anywhere in town, but I was able to source the used part immediately. After I learned what the part is actually called (they were using jargon so the new parts place couldn't identify what I needed), I learned the part was readily available in the used market as well. For this fairly simple repair that my husband and I could have done ourselves in an afternoon -- plus a mistake probably caused by a mechanic being too aggressive with the pneumatic tools -- they had my car for over 10 days and I'm sure it would have been longer if I hadn't started pestering them every day. In the end, the bill was 40% higher than they quoted. They were always polite, but they took zero responsibility for causing me major inconvenience and, seriously, when the customer has to source a part you broke, there are no excuses...but they came up with some creative ones. I kind of get the impression this is a family business and the kids are taking over from Dad who had a good reputation -- I used this shop a few times about 25 years ago before I found a mechanic I really liked who recently retired. The previous management did a good and fast job and I would have left a glowing Yelp review back then. Maybe it's just that sense of entitlement nepotism gives some people, but honestly -- I won't ever use this garage again. Sorry to trash a local business, but hopefully they'll take this complaint to heart and pick up their game. This is not how to treat customers! read more

I have been here twice for help with my car and they are so extremely helpful. Once I needed a tire fixed I called around town and I couldn't get help for weeks. I called these guys and they said come right now within 5 minutes my tire was fixed. Today my car was making strange noises. I stop in and they thought I needed a brake inspection and I was going to make an appointment. The mechanic said if you pull over to the last garage I will take your tire off I think it's a rock. They could have waited until the brake inspection but the didn't. It doesn't feel like they are trying to sell me something. Once again within 5 minutes I am driving away happy. As a women sometimes issues with my car can be confusing and intimidating but I feel completely confident taking my car here. They could have made a lot of money off of me not having a clue and they didn't. I definitely will not take my car anywhere else, these guys are the best! read more
