The breakfast tacos were pretty meh at best! The chorizo lacked flavor and the egg is way overpowering in the taco. They basically cook an egg in a skillet like an omelette without folding it and throw it on a tortilla. I had to drown the taco in salsa to get any flavor from it. I also found it strange that you can't get coffee here. read more

This is one of my favorite taco spots! You he prices are great and the portions are hefty! I always have leftovers when I order from there. Today I couldn't make up my mind of what I wanted, so I got the chicken quesadillas and 2 beef soft tacos. Flavor of the quesadilla was mouth watering!!!! Both came with chips and salsa which reminds me of a mild flavor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves tacos, burritos, quesadillas etc.... The 2 things I dislike about this spot is the parking and that they aren't open on the weekends/late night. read more

I've been to this place a few times and they never disappoint. The food is cooked to order and doesn't take long at all. The place is small, so it's best to go early for lunch to grab a seat. I have a friend that frequents this place regularly (so much so, he has his own customized order), so I decided to try his order. Awesome little taco joint near UAB. Don't know if it's the best in town necessarily but they have very, very tasty food. Their al pastor street taco is easily my favorite thing on the menu. I ordered one Al Pastor and Pollo (chicken) street tacos. The chicken was dry and didn't have much seasoning, so I probably will not get the chicken street taco again. Their chicken quesadilla, on the other hand, was one of the best I've tried in town. The portion sizes were very generous, and service was fast and very friendly. Both quesadillas and tacos come with a side of chips and salsa. I highly recommend that you call in if ordering around lunchtime. They tend to get a little backed because of the lunch crowd, mostly from UAB. I am looking forward to returning to try the shrimp taco and the burritos next! read more

Absolutely delicious! The meats are all well seasoned. I've only had the taco salad and the tacos so far, but eventually I'll get around to the burritos and quesadillas (my coworkers have ordered each of those: the burritos are enormous and the quesadillas smell amazing). No matter what you order, you can't go wrong! However, I'm a little partial to the pastor street tacos and campechano street tacos. I would post a picture, but I hoovered in my tacos too fast to snap one. ***I did eventually get around to trying a quesadilla: chicken tinga. Absolutely delicious! Lots of meat and cheese both inside the tortilla. My one complaint would be, it's a little greasy, but I would still eat it again. read more

I do here occasionally. The food is fine. My issue, the reason I don't eat here more often, is they make you pay for salsa. I know salsa is now free to make but it's very inexpensive. When you are purchasing $15-$20 of food and they want to us to pay .50 for and extra ounce of salsa I decide to take my business else where. I am not the type of person to say I will never eat here again. But it is not top of my list. I have been to many places with food prices similar and they have salsa bars. I am not asking for that. Just saying I think they could provide more sals with the order upon request. read more

Ok, I am back for a 2nd review. I this place and it is good that there is no parking or I would eat here everyday! Pork street tacos, cheeseburger and crinkle fries. Or my newest favorite the shrimp quesadilla. All are so delicious! The shrimp quesadilla is my favorite i Birmingham, with just enough, not too much peppers, onions and spice. They put about 6-7 plump gulf shrimp in it and it is cooked perfectly. read more

Frequent this hole in the wall for lunch quite often. It's always packed during lunch hours but it's worth it. They're quick with orders and always get them right. I eat her almost everyday. About 18 out of 20 days a month. My "go to" is the tostada, but I change it up. They have a great variety of meat choices - Tinga (think slow cooked chicken), chicken (cubed), shrimp, steak(diced), carnita (pork), and beef (hamburger meat). Tostado does come with side of chips and salsa. I pay extra for a side of black beans (seasoned very well), and/or side of rice. You can also ask for side of pico and Guac. Absolutely perfect! While staying in Alabama for a work conference everyone at the Hospital kept talking about this place. I tried the chicken street tacos. The chicken had a good flavor to the outside, but was dry on the inside. I had to add sour cream and lime to make it moist as dry food gets stuck for me. I also paid extra for guacamole thinking I was gonna get a nice size container and I got one tiny spoon full in a small to go container like you put salad dressing in. That was disappointing as I wanted to eat my chips with it...wound up eating A chip with it. read more

When this place moved into the old Becky's location, I honestly thought there would be no chance that it would succeed or even serve good food, but I was incredibly wrong. This place has quality Mexican food and it is worth a try, especially if you work near UAB. The restaurant is super tiny, probably less than 5 seats inside, so plan to get your food to go. The restaurant's menu is pretty typical Mexican fare: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. I have tried two burritos from here, pork and chorizo. I thought the pork was a little bland, but the chorizo I had tonight was extremely flavorful and very spicy. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable: I ordered a huge burrito with chips and salsa and a drink for $8.50. The staff is friendly, the food is good. Only downside is lack of indoor seating. Highly recommend! read more
