Check in was easy, got set up for my safety class since I never shot a gun before. The weapon picked for shotting was a glock 9. We got set up in our lane and got our targets up and we were ready! He completely drains the fun out of the visit. ​Power-Tripping Range Officers: While I completely understand and respect the absolute necessity of gun safety, the RSOs here cross the line into being flat-out rude. They yell at shooters and treat you like you've never handled a firearm before. ​Zero Urgency: When there is a waitlist, the staff shows absolutely no urgency to get shooters assigned to open tables. ​I've been to many ranges, and this is easily one I would never recommend to anyone. They act like you're using their personal firearms and ammo. I won't be back, and I'll be making sure my friends avoid this place as well.

Rio Salado Sportsman is part of the shooting range and offers a wide variety of instruction. Parking 5/5 Parking was plentiful at the Training Building. Arrived at 8:30 and met members of my Medical & Safety Teams. Training Event 10/5 This is our second Team training event here. Stop the Bleed was our last class. Today's was part of our teams two year CPR & AED re-certification class. The class was taught by Battalion Chief Mark Cichocki. This was an instruction and hands on curriculum using Adult and Infant dummy torsos for the CPR and AED practice. Instructor "Fire Battalion Chief" Mark was outstanding. His years serving in fire and rescue was apparent, his instruction smartly mixed with real world examples was perfect. Mark's delivery style kept things moving and interesting. Value 10/5 $30pp no cert and $60pp for the two year certifications are exceptional price points compared to the big organizations ARC & AHA. Rio Salado sportsman 5/5 Their training center building is large and equipped to handle a wide variety of events and classes. Thank-you Rio Salado Sportsman. High FFL Transfer Fee: Not Awesome…read more.. I had stopped in here once a few months back to check this place out as I drove by. This initial visit I felt like everyone was pretty friendly so I thought when I ordered a rifle that was hard to find online I would have it shipped here to pick up and do the FFL paperwork. I ordered my rifle and paid for it online from the company across the United States and they shipped it right over to these guys and I got my Fed ex confirmation at 10 AM in the morning yesterday so at 2 PM yesterday I stopped in to grab my rifle thinking that should be an easy process. I was told by the older gentleman there that they had 50 guns come in that day and they had not finished processing them and told me that he would call me when he was ready for me. I felt like that wasn't the most polite thing since I had already driven there and it wouldn't have been hard to go and grab the big long box with my name on it and just do the paperwork and have me out of his hair. So I left went about my day and waited and never heard back. Finally today they called me after they had had the gun for over 24 hours and told me I could come in to pick it up. The older gentleman took care of me again and I am guessing he remembered me and was still annoyed that I had the nerve to show up at a store without having an appointment which was not a policy on a sign or known to me so it wasn't the happiest of interactions. I filled out my paperwork and wasn't even given a chance to look at my weapon before I was handed it to me and sent out the door. It is $40 to do an FFL transfer here from another dealer. This seemed a little high to me since I usually pay $20 or $25 at the other dealers that I normally use. All in all I probably wouldn't come back here since they have steep transfer fees and the service just wasn't there. The customer shouldn't feel like they are bothering someone there when they show up to pick something up that they've already paid for. I feel like this is a pretty fair and accurate review of my experience here since I subtracted one starfor making me return another day instead of helping me the first day I came when they weren't any customers in the store anyway. I subtracted the other store because it just wasn't a friendly experience. I will say the younger guy does seem more friendly but he was sitting at the desk and not the one helping me.

This fine gunsmithy has been in business at the Rio Salado Sportsmans Club for about 40 years, or so. We have put a bag of parts in Bob's hands before, to later magically receive a beautiful gun. I started going here just after they opened. In fact, I had Bob rebuild some 1911's recently for me that he tuned up for me new back in the 80's and 90's. Ever since they hooked up with Caswells.com, they have garnered even more happy customers. Sean, the new owner, is a very capable gunsmith, and between the two of them just about anything is possible within the realm of sanity. I like doing yelp reviews, but I love to brag about these guys. 2 locations- one at Caswells Mesa, and one at the Usery Pass target range. I was discussing another project for my Uncle Jeff with a noted military historian, novelist and gunwriter. When the subject of great gunsmiths came up, he mentioned Bob LaMarca right off the bat. The prices are really competitive and were actually less than the big discount sporting goods stores. In fact, their ammo prices and accessories were actually super competitive too and they have a great selection. I will be a repeat customer as this is now my go-to local firearm and ammo store. In addition, there was a technical modification required that they did very quickly at a nominal fee. I've probably bought four Gun since then from Dk defense all four were priced lower than the big supplier in Tennessee. They had to order Gun. I still got it quicker than I would've if I submitted an online order and I know a lot of people go go online for what they perceived to be a cheaper price for guns only to discover they could've gotten the gun 2 to 5% cheap cheaper at at Dk Defense and save by not having pay the FFL transfer fee. Krista and Dan are great to deal, very friendly very knowledgeable. Calling on DK is like visiting friends. I consider DK my one stop gun shop in the valley.
