This is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, you have to give them props for re-opening an established business after one of the most devastating storms to afflict Staten Island. You can't take away from their dedication to their craft and resilience. On the other hand, there are far better barbershops and hair salons-some within walking distance-than Untouchable Cuts. The barbers can at times be distracted, and the overall result-at least, most of the times I've been there, has been unremarkable. If the cost of a cut were more reasonable, this might be excusable. However, as far as I can tell, the price is on par with what you'll find at much better hair salons and barbershops. I wish I could recommend this shop more highly, but I cannot. read more

Great place! Have been going to Jitu for a while now for eyebrow threading and tinting. On top of being very sweet, she always does a beautiful job on my eyebrows. I have recently went to her for a haircut and was very happy with how it came out! She gave me exactly what I asked for and my hair even looked exactly like the picture that I showed her for reference. I'm going to write a review here solely based off of: A.) environment and atmosphere, and B.) my barber, Jimmy. I'm pretty particular with haircuts. My grandfather has been a barber for 50 plus years. I've been fortunate to have free haircuts, outside of times I moved away from home. In other states, I'd ask for my basic hairstyle and go to modern "barbershops" and walk out with harsh lines, confusing styles and haircuts that resulted in weeks of wearing hats. When I moved to Staten Island I made it my mission to find a barber I trust. Based off some research, I chose Untouchable and Jimmy. The scheduling process was pretty easy. They even rescheduled when I had a conflict, no questions asked. NOTE: there are walk ins for available barbers. Parking was plentiful on a Sunday. The inside was welcoming enough, with seating, magazines and a TV. Everything was clean and quiet (again on a Sunday). I met Jimmy and immediately described the classic cut I like. He was personable, and understood my thick hair, head shape and why I don't prefer too much of a modern cut. I actually wanted my haircut to be modeled after his, so I was lucky. He was smooth with the clippers and scissors and we had great barber shop chats. He cut my hair to a length that was perfect because my hair grows super fast. Price was fair. I look forward to my next cut with him. I can say that based on observation all the other barbers were super on point and clients seemed happy as well! read more

I called in advance to ask how much a regular haircut is and I asked if they accept credit card - they said a regular cut is $25 for men and that they do accept credit card. I walk in and show the barber, Matt, a picture of how I want my haircut. The fade he gave me was terrible. I told him not to take too much off the top (that doesn't mean do nothing with it) He did absolutely nothing to the top except spray it with water and comb it. The part he gave me also came out terrible. The back of my head and my neck was beyond red from irritation once he was done. After the cut, I showed them my credit card and they said that "they don't accept cards on Sundays." I also wanted to confirm the price and the barber said $30! I mentioned that I called before and I was told that it was $25. He said "I charge my own prices." Even the price on the wall says $25....so $30 for a terrible haircut and irritation on the back of my head and neck. I had to go to my original barber right after I left so that she can fix the haircut. Overall, it was a bad and unprofessional experience. read more

First time coming to Untouchable Cutz. I walked in the one of the girls told me 20min which was cool with me. I didn't even wait that long to be seated. My Barber Jitu was so friendly and outgoing and made the experience even more comfortable. I showed a pic of what I wanted and she was spot on. Jitu was super cool but very attentive, she wasn't distracted by conversation at all and paid very good attention to detail. The Barbershop it's self has some very great aesthetics and super comfortable chairs, making my time there all the Better. The price wasn't bad, and they also do appointments. Unfortunately brought my child here for his first day of school haircut. I was specifically growing his hair out the entire summer anticipating a nice fresh tape up for the upcoming school year. Well I don't know if she was rushing or just simply didnt understand when I asked for a tape up on the sides with a no 2 blade and simply DEBULK the top. Well my son left there with basically no hair left. The sides were buzzed with what looks like a no1 and it's not even clean on the sides. There was at least 4/5 inches of growth on top of his head and there's maybe an inch left. I am beyond upset read more

I've been going to my barber for about 15 years. You all know how hard it is to go to a new barber let alone find one that cuts the way you like. I cannot stress how great this place is. Walked in on a Saturday morning without an appointment. Asked to see the next available barber and was in a seat in about 20 mins. Sat down with Rachel and asked for a mid skin fade. I've only ever gotten a 2 or a 3 so this was brand new to me. Rachel straight killed the cut. Best haircut I've ever gotten. The fade is perfect, the shape up is perfect and she trimmed my beard a bit to help shape it. If you are looking for a haircut in Staten Island this is the place to be. Ah. Don't bother unless you have an appt. If you walk in they look at you like you aren't good enough to bless their seats. All I needed was a light clean up to my current haircut which is an expensive professional salon cut so not much work to do, light trim/clean up. It's a beautiful thing that the economy is so that good there is no need to pick up a new client especially when they are a good, very good tipper. It's a sad when a business's poor customer service ruins their opportunity to get rates on their craft. Tried this place out for the first time since the Yelp reviews were good. Overall nice atmosphere friendly barbers. I had a female barber I think her name was Jaime she had blond hair and some tats. Used to be great but post the lock down became very unprofessional, unreliable and inconsiderate for customers time including myself a loyal customer who had been going there for 5 years. Im a great tipper and I even would give my barber $100 for Christmas every year and the few times I couldn't make it to my appointment I still paid my barber in full plus tip for it thennext time I came in plus paid for the cut. They are very ungrateful and have absolutely no respect for peoples time and believe the world revolves around them and that they are the only shop in town. This is a perfect example of how to run a business down to the ground. It won't happen overnight but eventually it will. They seem to want to work only from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. I guess people who work until 5pm have to go somewhere else. This is the first barber shop I've ever seen that wants to work only part time bankers hours. Their website however allows you to book until 6:30pm but if they don't have any appointments between 4:30 and 6:30pm they will call to ask you if you can come in earlier and if you can't they will cancel your appointment to go home early rather than wait the 2 hours to service you at the scheduled time they agreed on. They have absolutely no consideration for customers time. They did this to me the night before I had to go take a picture for a driver's license. I had to scramble at 6:15 pm to find another shop to cut my hair and shape up my beard. A few weeks before they chopped off one side of the top of my hair far shorter than the other side as well. I had to have the other shop chop the other side level and now wait a month for it to grow back to the length I had it. I thought it was only my barber doing this but the owner himself pulled the same stunt on me Thursday night. Very unprofessional, unreliable and poor customer service and especially for the prices they charge. If you have anything important to attend to the following day that requires a cut don't go there unless you schedule an appointment before 4pm. I'm sure it won't be difficult to find a barber elsewhere who will appreciate my generosity and respect for their time and in turn will be considerate of and respect my time as well. Learn that you don't go home if it gets slow for an hour or 2 and you have an appointment scheduled after that gap. Honor the hours you claim to be available and allow a customer to book. We also have lives, responsibilities and many other appointment elsewhere on our schedules. It had become a routine here to try to reschedule later appointments in the day to an earlier appointment. The money is at the shop not at home. The standard time for barber shops to close are 8pm. Not 4pm. If my time means nothing to you then you don't deserve my hard earned money. read more

Omg! The guy cutting my hair was chatting on his cell. Then he was having a loud conversation with the other barbers about going on someone name Ally's boat but wasn't sure bc of the weather. Nonstop! The cut was ok but I really feel he could be more attentive to the customers. It's rude. You can be a great haircutter but if you make the customer feel uncomfortable or ignored, the person will never go back, regardless of how well you cut hair. I also think $16 is a bit high for a buzz cut on SI. I go to barbers in TriBeCa and pay less than that. Otherwise, the cut was good. Please work on your customer service skills so you can retain clients. read more
