This shop came highly recommended from some of my buddies that have cars, I drive a 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe and I wasn't disappointed. I bought the car and was told it had a 12 volt system and 3 weeks later multiple bulbs were blown and I couldn't figure out why. (Dash lights, dome light, radio, back license plate light etc) I had my alternator rebuilt, got a new battery and they still wouldn't work. I dropped it off and explained everything to David and while I was waiting for my ride home he was already working on my car. I previously had loved this business. It was nice to have an electric shop I can trust. I have several classic cars and always had great experiences. The last time I went in was completely different. David requested money up front which was weird I would usually never do but like I said I trusted him. I paid him partial up front. Over a week went buy for a small project on a truck I use for work with no word. I decided to stop in and one 3' wire had been ran. David used excuses that he was going thru a divorce. However like others mentioned I suspect it was a drug problem as that's what it seemed. He told me he would refund me. I never got my money back. I'm pretty frustrated-- earlier this year I dropped off one of my classic vehicles with David and the car sat for almost four (4) weeks without even being worked on. I was charged $400+ dollars and he never even touched my car. Then when I scheduled a time to come pick up the vehicle, the shop was closed and I wasted several hours waiting for his brother to open the shop. Six months pass by and I decide to give David and this business another chance because I had several really positive experiences before. I own a business myself and was told he was going through a divorce and dealing with a large amount of life changes...I can understand how something in your personal life can have an unfortunate effect on your work. 6 months should be enough time to heal and clean up your workflow, right? I'm generally a pretty forgiving person so I told David that because you charged me $400+ before and I never got a refund, how about I drop my car off and you fix the electrical issues and I apply the $400 toward the service this time? He agrees, and I'm stoked. Well...another 3 weeks pass by and David doesn't touch my car at all. Continually makes up excuses about how he needs to take care of his daughter because of the divorce. Okay, but how does that equate to not being able to find time to work on my car for 3 weeks? Every interaction with David in person...seems off. Like maybe he's high on drugs. I suspect meth or something in that category. Erratic behavior, talking way too fast, HIGHLY animated, and always making up excuses, fidgeting. Finally I call the shop and a woman answers (maybe family or one of his employees) and I tell them I'm totally fed up and need to get my car. This woman explains that David will probably continue making excuses and they agree I should just go somewhere else. When I pick up the vehicle, David seems high on drugs again. He claims he'll give me a refund. Makes up more excuses about how he was busy with his daughter and couldn't find time to work on my car, meanwhile there are always other cars there being worked on... I'm sorry, but I'm never giving David or Upland Auto Electric my business again. I also never got the refund he promised and so I filed a chargeback with my credit card company. Two consecutive times, over the span of six months, my car sat at his shop without being worked on for weeks on end. I found another electrical shop in Murrieta, California that works on classic cars called Exclusive Wire Works and they knocked out 80% of the work within the first few hours of me dropping my car off. Sure I had to drive 45 miles but after what I went through here...and wasting arguably two months of time? Worth it. David please get some help. Stop lying to customers and making up excuses. There's potential for a solid business model here and you used to do good work, but you need to do better to earn people's trust back. On Google Reviews, two (2) other recent reviews also noted that he seemed under the influence or high on drugs and had extremely poor experiences with David avoiding customers calls and not doing any work. read more

I had two windows go out in my Chrysler PT Cruiser ...and I smelled that burning plastic smell. I started calling around and started a project on Yelp to get quotes. David is a great tech and an honest person. I've been trying to get my tail lights fixed for a while now and he's been diligently working on the issue but has yet to actually charge me for the diagnostic testing. The first time I dropped my car off he worked for a couple of hours and wasn't able to get to the bottom of the issue before I had to leave but he didn't charge me for any of that time. I came in 3 separate times to try and fix it. He'd look at the lights, make a couple of adjustments and they start working like nothing was wrong. We were both perplexed. The last time I brought it in I said I had a new radio installed and I wondered if that was the issue? He pulled it out and adjusted some wires but said he couldn't find anything specific that looked like it would be a problem. He said he would order a part (I believe it was turn signal bulbs) because he'd seen it be an issue before, but he wasn't going to charge me for them unless they fixed my problem. Well, I haven't even needed those. Since he pulled out the radio and put it back, everything is working! It has been for a few months now with no problem. Basically he fixed my issue for free, after looking at it 3 times! I've never been to a place that didn't charge for the diagnostic time even if they couldn't find the issue. He's honest and an extremely hard worker. I kind of hope something electrical comes up again just so I can actually give him some business! Our 2017 Ford Edge's rear liftgate (hatchback) got stuck and would not open. We manually popped it open and tried to troubleshoot it ourselves. We checked fuses and even removed and replaced the latch and motor assembly but no luck. Had to be something electrical, we weren't getting a signal from the front to the back as no buttons or sensor would work to open or close the hatchback. Ok, we did all we could, time to call someone who knows more than we do! Checked on Yelp and talked to several auto electric repair shops but no one wanted to touch the job until we got to David at Upland Auto Electric. He said to bring it in the next morning at 10am and he'd take a look. We left it with him and about an hour and a half later he called with the problem found, a bad liftgate module/board that needed replacing. Two hours later and a fair price and we were heading home with a fully working vehicle again! I drove over an hour to see David at Upland auto electric hoping that he would solve my SUV's continuously running cooling fans that no other mechanic could figure out. David ultimately concluded that it was not an electrical issue, but he did suggest that I replace my aftermarket thermostat (which had just been replaced) with an OEM Toyota thermostat and bleed the coolant (which again, has just been done by another mechanic). I ordered parts and did the repairs and it solved the fan issue. My fans are back to normal and saved hundreds, possibly Thousands of dollars on costly repairs. David pointed me in the right direction even though it wasn't an electrical issue, which shows he's an honest and genuine person....a very rare find these days. read more
