My boyfriend is from North County and LOVES the pizza from here. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza, especially for the price. Since he loves coming here, I decided to find something that I could love equally to his pizza. I found just the thing, deli turkey sandwich. I've had it probably 5 different times, and every time it is the exact same. Delicious. I'm always looking for a good place for wings, so I thought I'd give them a try here. Bad news bears. They were all fatty, no meat. Gross. I tried one bite and knew I couldn't take any more. I should've told someone they weren't edible, but they got busy and I decided I'd just never order them again. This place is near my work, so a lot of coworkers go for their lunch specials. I recommend calling in your order at least 25 minutes before you get there, if you have a short lunch like I do. We love this pizza! My husband and I have been going here for years and now take our children as well, who also love it. While I'll admit that we've only had the pizza, garlic bread and salads, I am a big pizza fan and Upper crust is my all time favorite. The place is clean, well laid-out, informal, and pretty comfortable. Its ok for kids, with a couple of the usual video games. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. You have to get up for drink refills, and napkins, forks, etc.. which is kind of a hassle with booth seating, but they do have tables for larger groups. The soda fountain is smallish as is the area where the napkins and whatnot are dispensed. Not a big deal unless its crowded. The place could get crowded.. I noticed a line waiting to order, at times 3 deep and this was a weekday. The counter staff was fast, friendly, and patient. We did the family special. A large 1-topping pizza, a big bowl of salad, and 4 drinks for $26. We changed from the 1-topping pizza to a combo, and doing-so bumped the cost up another $6, which I thought was a bit much. We orderd an additional low-fat medium pizza for another $13, for a total of $49. A little on the steep side. The salad was unimpressive and mainly just a big bowl of iceberg lettuce with a few carrots and tomatoes thrown in for looks, oh and a little bit of pasta noodles on top. The Italian dressing was very good though. 4 people will likely not finish the salad since its big, but also because its just not that great. Pizza was a little slow coming, and that would have been bothersome if we weren't eating salad and chatting a lot. Here's the reason I would consider coming back. The large combo pizza was excellent, and the low-fat veggie pizza was even better. Its a little thinner crust with just the right amount of crispness. I came here a couple of weeks ago with my significant other and had an overall good experience. I feel that the food was good but have had better, even on a weekday at lunch time. 1. Service was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was anything to brag about, but I do have higher standards when I go out to places just because customer service is extremely important to me. The associates working were gracious and understanding and told my boyfriend and I about a coupon we could use since the one Yelp has is apparently not valid. 2. I feel that for what we ordered, it took an awfully long time in coming out. Upper Crust wasn't too busy because we went at about 8PM on New Year's Day. We got a medium pizza with olives and cheese and a side salad. After waiting for close to 20 minutes and seeing people who arrived and ordered after us get their complicated pizzas before us, I was starting to get concerned. Eventually we got our food and everyone was happy. 3. Make sure to wipe down tables and seats before you sit down. They can be a little funky. 4. The lunch combos are usually the best deals but they offer dinner specials as well and those are really good! Lasagne is my fave. read more

Everytime I come in, I always receive a warm welcome. Everyone is really friendly & makes you feel as though you are visiting family ( well, if you have a good relationship with your family that is ) BUT anyways, the food came out quick and was insanely good. My pizza order can be quite complicated at times, but it's always executed with perfect precision. The owners and staff definitely know pizza and continue to hold it down at this legendary local pizza spot. If you are from north county, and haven't been here yet, then you aren't from north county. Walked in & was instantly impressed because the interior is really nice! Unfortunately, that changed pretty quick as we couldn't find a SINGLE table that was clean. We came on a Wednesday evening at 5pm & there were only 2 other tables that were filled... basically not busy at all. Besides that, there were 3 employees just sitting at one of the tables in the dining area who just watched while we went and found napkins and water to wipe our own table off. Wouldn't have been that big of a deal but we have 3 kids, 2 of them being 9 month old twins so we were both holding a baby as we attempted to just find & clean a table. The young girl that brought our salads out to us just set them on the table and started walking away without saying a single word. I said "thank you" as she was already walking away & she just said "uh huh." I was extremely disappointed in the professionalism of the employees. Except from one... he was a tall, white male, blonde/reddish hair, maybe around 25-30 who was working at 5pm on 7/5. He was extremely kind & very helpful. The pizza was GREAT and the pasta was pretty good. I have never left a negative yelp review but the customer service unfortunately was not that great. read more

this place is on point every time we go they always give us service with a smile we call our orders in 20 minutes prior to going so we can have the food ready when we get there and every time everything is precisely the way we order it there food is awesome their beers are better in their service is impeccable! I have been going since I moved to Oceanside 10 years ago as a kid. Its my favorite. The lunch special prices are great! The salad is great the ranch tastes great especially since I'm not a fan of ranch dressing but this one is just perfect with the mozzarella, lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots that the salad consist of. The pizza is always good whether its pepperoni, sausage, olives. The deli sandwhiches are tastey, the calzones, the lasana. Anything you order there is no bad choice. Went to the new location in San Marcos and they are both great! Great service. read more

I truly do not wish to give UCP a bad review because I experienced nothing bad about the business in general. I read raving reviews on them and was craving a REAL pizza as I have recently moved from Chicago. I was hoping to find someone in the area that could come close to the standard that I came to take for granted there. I have yet to find it here. My opinion is that those who speak so highly of the pizza at UCP haven't ever tried the real thing-Chicago style!!! Ingredients? Mediocre,at best. I thought the price was good;at least until I got the pizza home and opened the carry out box. What I had read in the reviews about "plenty of toppings" turned out to be just another's distorted perception of "plenty".....and I have never seen such a small large pizza. Well,UCP. Been here once before and it was pretty good. Went a few days ago on my lunch to get a lunch special Togo. It would have been nice to know that they didn't have any pizza slices ready and they had to cook one before I ordered and paid. Normally I wouldn't mind waiting the 15-20 min but when you are on a 30 min lunch and still have to get back to work and eat it's not really worth the wait. So when they told me there was a wait i politely said I didn't want it anymore and they supposedly refunded me the money. According to my account they didn't but it's not worth going back in for $4.50. I just know not to go back. Also it's not very appetizing to see people who are touching your food touch their face and then touch lettuce and put it in a bowl for your salad. Also don't think people who prepare your food to touch trash cans or hold food over trash cans before they put your food on a plate read more

We've been coming here for years and always enjoy our food and the friendly staff. The remodel is beautiful and modern, but still homey and relaxing. The only (minor) complaint I have is the bench seats in the booths and chairs at the tables are very hard and uncomfortable. Makes it difficult to sit too long and this is a place where we'd like to stay and relax while enjoying our food. Also, the napkins have changed to a very small, one ply style that don't work too well. Still love the food and staff, so we'll still come to enjoy our favorite pizza place. read more

We used to come here very frequently but since the update occurred it's not the same anymore. Last time we ordered a pizza to go there was so much oil on the top of it that it leaked through the box onto the car seat. That never happened before and we have always ordered the same toppings, pepperoni, basil and bacon. Decided to take the family to a new pizza place...found upper crust on yelp and so we gave it a try. We went in on a Tuesday evening for a quick bite to eat and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. My wife had the hot stuffed turkey sandwich, her new favorite!!! The rest of us had pizza. Pizza was excellent, crust was delicious, I have a new go to pizza place and the best part they are only 5 mins from home. The service was outstanding as well, Christina our server was amazing!!! She waited on our table as if I were at a 5 star restaurant. I am used to the normal service from pizza places where they get you the food and leave to never come back. Christina came back on multiple occasion to bring drinks, napkins, ranch, she even got a lid so my daughter wouldn't spill her drink!!! First class food and Christina's first class service sealed the deal and this is my new go to pizza joint!!! Keep up the good work upper crust. read more

The reason I'm giving two stars for what should be a 5 star place based on it PIZZA, is for the wings. You guys do a great job on the pizza, the best in my opinion. These wings though, I was pretty disappointed to learn that they are frozen. They were slimy and no good at all, was really looking forward to a nice pizza with some wings. So did you ever see the movie Waiting it was a funny little movie about a team of morons running a restaurant. See in a movie in it is funny, oh we laugh and joke, but in reality it leads to a terrible eating experience where I feel like standing up, demanding all my money back, and driving across the street to Shakeys where I will actually be served. I watched a team of teenagers joke and chat while I waited thirty minutes for an over cooked pizza and subpar spaghetti. To top it off we order beers and asked three times for our pitcher while we waited for our food. The third one finally told us we had to go get it ourselves, then once we got our pizza we got to stare at it for almost five minutes waiting for the kid to bring the plates he asked if wanted after bringing the pizza. Look when it comes to movies I am willing to laugh when it comes to dinner I would just prefer to be served my food and beverages. read more

Bummed, we've been here before and it seems like it's just slid down hill. Staff was pretty unattentive, the table next to us was dirty when we got there and wasn't cleaned the entire time we were there. Almost every video game in the arcade will eat your quarters so be careful. And I would bring your own ranch cuz after ordering a pizza and sandwiches they wanted to charge an extra $0.65 for ranch..... The pizza was okay, the sandwich was bland.
