Called in to order a pizza + well baked wings and was told 15/20 minutes. I show up 25 minutes later and the order is still not ready no big deal I'll wait. They made me wait an extra fifteen minutes to cook the wings and to top it off the wings came out raw and no I can't just use my oven to cook since we are remodeling our kitchen. That was odd but not too bad However, when it home, some of the meatballs in the sandwich were hard and stale-like. Well, it just wasn't that good all around, sorry. Upper Crust has been a family staple for years, from team sports to church groups and catching up with friends, it's a great place. Friendly staff, casual but comfy environment and great eats. I love their half n half salad with extra cheese-- and the ranch dressing is delicious! Simple ingredients. Simply good. And the portion size is huge to feed the whole family. I really like their gluten free bbq chicken pizza. The real test is if GF pizza leftovers taste good the next day. And theirs does-- nice job! I'm all about cheese bread, and again, dipping it in some ranch. I can taste it now. I've gone and made myself hungry for Upper Crust again!!! The pizza was soggy, almost as if the pizza dough wasn't cooked all the way through. I suspect it came from the huge amount of veggies they put on top of the pizza. I think they wanted to add a little extra since I'm paying $26 dollars for a pizza but they ruined it. Their garlic bread isn't any better you can get better garlic bread at the grocery store. At least the small cheese pizza was great. I'm a local and have been here many times before but this time the pizza was just terrible. read more

Ok, so let start with food. Delicious! Living in downtown Vista, I like to support local businesses/chains so I have eaten here many times. The pizza is thin crust magic, the antipasta salad is MY FAVORITE thing in the world, and any of the sandwiches are magnificent. They have also updated their weird "we get your soda for you and you will wait nine years for it" thing they had going on, which is helpful. Everything is fresh and so so tasty. You really can't go wrong with ordering here. All delicious! Now the atmosphere. Down one big fat star. It's an old pizza joint that makes you feel like you are at Hometown Buffet, the kitchen from the movie Home Alone, and a dirty deli circa 1994. Go ahead and soak that in. With the amazing food this place has and how busy it ALWAYS is, you would think they could update juuuuuuust a little. But what really drops it down is the service. You can see the whole kitchen when you order, (which I actually like... I wanna see them gloved hands) but its very frantic, with lots of shouting. The kid taking your order may or may not put it on the stack for the cooks to see. You may or may not sit for 45 minutes for a to go SALAD. And for the love of all things holy, don't ask where your paid order is, or so help them, they will slap that together and then ring you up again when you have already paid. If this happens, management may look at you and say "It's fine, whatever just take it." And because there is a fire burning deep in the pit of your soul, you may answer "ARE YOU SERIOUS, YES I WIIIIILLL TAKE IT SINCE I PAID ALREADY!". Of this you will be ashamed for the sass you just displayed, because maybe everyone just had a bad day. But seriously, give yourself at least an hour of time to wait, barring a freak occurance of business slowing down and them charging you correctly. But the food is le BEST. I cannot believe this place has a four star on yelp. This place is without the best pizza joint in North County with the most reasonable prices. I have been coming to Upper Crust for 15 years and they're still as amazing since the first time. We just went there last night and had a hot stuff sandwich which is to die for, nothing comes close and we have experienced all the local San Diego classics. Average food, average flavor, decent service and somewhat clean location. Upper Crust makes for a good post football/baseball game destination for kids sports but not much else. Perhaps my pallet has changed a bit after venturing out to try different types of food but everything seems so bland. Comparing it to a Digiorno pizza that is 3 for $11 in the frozen food isle, it's a tough comparison. I have been here several times when I played sports in school and with my siblings as well. There is nothing memorable about the food and it seems a bit pricey for what you get. I suppose if you want to get a few pitchers of beer, slap down a pizza and share with the family then this might be your pizza joint. If you feel the need for some good pizza that wont strap you to a toilet seat later that day then I recommend trying a different place. read more

Very disappointed again. We live closer to the upper crust pizza in Vista. Attempted to give them another shot. Love the location in Oceanside. The owner and his team and food is always amazing. The Vista location could learn a few things. The pizza was under cooked again and the spaghetti with meat sauce was lacking serious portions. The meatballs were burnt. My girlfriend introduced me to Upper Crust Pizza a bit ago. I thought their pizza was very good. We got a large pepperoni pizza and I thought the pizza was cooked very well. It was a very cheesy pizza and quite delicious. They seemed to also have sandwiches and other items on their menu. The restaurant is in a small strip mall but so far we always picked up the pizza and left. The service has always been very good and every time we went their the pizza was ready at the time they said it would be. Overall a pretty good pizza restaurant and I wouldnt mind coming back to this location. read more

The Vista one's food is better for sure. They HOOK UP the pasta salad and cheesy garlic bread. Disappointed. I was unable to eat the pizza due to the strong garlic flavor, even after I asked for light garlic. Staff response was "too bad." Literally. I was so surprised as I at least expected an offer for something to eat for dinner. On principle alone, I really couldn't pay for a whole other pizza as the first I paid for sat whole and inedible in front of me. Very disappointed. First time there and we will not be coming back. We were looking for some fast and good pizza. So, we settled on Upper Crust. Located in a mini mall, this is a very unassuming place. However, they deliver on pizza. This is your order and pay and then sit down and wait restaurant. It's family style and all of your condiments are located in once central area. So, don't always expect the server to bring you things. With that said, the pizza and salad that we ordered was great. A medium pizza is big enough for 2 people. It's hearty and flavorful. Yes - go here. The pizza crust is excellent. The first thing I noticed was the bottom of the pizza was nice and crispy (not soggy). The toppings are fresh and the salad was too. The restaurant itself is standard, nothing to write home about, but it was comfortable. Typical for a pizza joint. Staff was helpful and friendly. Not a bad pizza, the sauce was robust, the crust was crunchy to the bite but gave way to a nice soft center. The toppings were fresh and the meats were premium. My only gripe would be the size of the beer mugs, pretty small, and the amount of cold cuts on the antipasto salad, not nearly enough for the amount of cheese and lettuce on the plate. I will go eat here again but i wouldnt say its my fav spot for pizza. read more
